Ever, Ever After: The TR Formerly Known as Wishing You Were Here- May 2011

I LOVE the picture of Carter not wanting the grape! That is precious! I don't know what it is about grapes but Reid has never liked them either. Maybe it's the texture. :confused3 But, it sounds like y'all had a very good meal & the key lime pie sounds wonderful! Your TR always ends up making me hungry! :lmao:

I have to agree... I wish Porter could stay 3 forever! He will turn 4 in October and it seems like over the last year he has really "grown-up." This has been my most emotional year as a mommy. He is beginning to lose those toddler ways and is quickly developing into a little boy. It is absolutely amazing to watch but it makes me so sad at the same time! Luckily, he says he wants to be just like Peter Pan and never grow-up... which is fine with me!

Isn't 3 a great age? I love it! I'm dreading March when Reid turns 4. That's funny that Porter says that about Peter Pan. Reid is obsessed with Peter Pan & is always telling me we're going to go live on Neverland. That is fine with me!

I'm sorry you didn't get to go on your thrill rides! Or get that pork chop! Sunshine Seasons seems like it has something for everyone, I really have to go there! :thumbsup2

The boys look very happy with their dinner, and I'm glad they liked their pie! :cool1:

I'm sorry the almond croissant didn't live up to expectations. I love almond flavored things, so I would have had high hopes too! I'm glad you found another drink, quickly! That is one thing you can say about WS, there are drinks around every corner, and lots of yummy, fancy ones at that!

That's so funny that you think that time is going slowly, I feel like time is just racing by with Everett. Maybe its because I only have one toddler. That might be inspiration to get moving on baby #2, to get things to slow down a little!

I agree that its fun to think about the adult vacations we will take someday. I was just telling Mark that I want to do something really big for our 10 year anniversary, like go on a Baltic Cruise, or go to Fiji or New Zealand or something. He said "you know that it is 5 years away, right?" and I told him I might need 5 years to make up my mind! :rotfl2:

I still think the idea of an almond croissant has a lot of potential. Maybe someday I'll find another one that's good. I was really happy to find another drink, especially one as cool as the American Dream. WS does have a lot of fun drinks to try.

I'm the only mom I know who thinks it's going by slowly. Maybe it is just because I have the two so close together. On the other hand, having baby #2 might make time go by even faster, since you'd have another one growing up so quickly.

Fiji or New Zealand would be so cool! I used to want to go to Bora Bora, until we priced it and learned we could stay at the Polynesian three times for the same money that Bora Bora would cost. I still might spring for it someday, but the Polynesian is awfully cool, too. Really you only have about four years to make up your mind, since it would probably take at least one year to plan it properly.

I think we were posting at the same time!

Sorry you couldn't get your pork chop- that is disappointing! :sad2:

I hope that the Key Lime pie at least made up for some of the disappointment- it certainly looks yummy in the pictures. The boys look like they were really enjoying it, but I didn't doubt it, if they are anything like Everett, they have never met a dessert they didn't like! :rotfl:

It looks like we were posting at the same time. Was it nap time for you, too?

It really doesn't seem right to miss out on a Chewy Caramel Bar and a pork chop on the same day.

The Key Lime pie was great. I love it and having the boys like it just as much as me made it even more fun. Carter and Landon definitely like most desserts, too.

Sorry about the pork chop, but I'm glad you at least got your key lime pie! :thumbsup2 It looks like Landon and Carter sure enjoyed their meals too. That was a good decision to go to Sunshine Seasons. Even if you've been snacking, you might as well use up those dining credits! Especially when there is the opportunity for pie at the end of the meal.

I was actually a little surprised when Jeremy showed up with two key lime pies. With the sort of luck we'd been having that day, I wouldn't have been a bit surprised if they had been out of pie and pork chops. Landon and Carter loved their food. I always like it when Carter tells me what he wants to eat. That's just what Jeremy thought, about using up the credits. I agree, it's best not to leave any credits behind. :rotfl:

Again no pork chop? :sad2::sad2: It looks like the kids really enjoyed their meal and I love the photos of them....they just look like such happy babies.

I didn't know they had key lime pie at Sunshine Seasons; another thing I'll have to tell my hubby -- he loves key lime pie and if Carter and Landon liked it, I'm sure Mark will too.

I was having some bad luck with Epcot foods that day. At least they weren't out of macaroni and cheese. I would have hated to have disappointed Carter. I love it when the boys eat their dinners happily.

I love the key lime pie from Sunshine Seasons, and of course, Carter and Landon have excellent taste in food. :rotfl:

What no pork chop??? :confused3 What a bummer! :sad2:

Your boys are just so cute! Smart move skipping the grapes Carter...that MacCheese looks pretty yummy! popcorn:: And I must say that is a pretty fun name for it! :cutie:

I love how happy they look after the key lime pie, too cute!! :goodvibes

I have always wanted to try the tuna there, it looks pretty good :thumbsup2

Looks like another yummy meal at SS.

Very smart hiding the pie until the end:thumbsup2 I am sure I would forget that part.

Man, that was just an off-day for you guys. I'm sorry about having to skip the thrill rides and missing out on the pork chop. At least there was key lime pie to make up for the lack of your desired entree (and for the almond croissant).
I laughed at Carter's determination not to let the grape in his mouth. Nothing was getting in his way of mac and cheese.

It never fails, does it? The minute you want to do someting productive, a shining little face wants your immediate attention.:cutie:

No pork chop? :sad2:

Key Lime Pie? :yay:

I am truly sorry the day did not go as expected, but the beauty of Disney is we are always left with wanting more, right?:goodvibes

What an eventful day at Epcot! It stinks that you missed out on the Caramel Chewy Bar and the pork chops, but at least you got yummy Key Lime Pie and the American Dream. :) I will be trying all of your Epcot recommendations on our upcoming trip.
Carter and Landon are such sweeties, every time I read an update I giggle over their cute little expressions. :lovestruc DD will be turning 3 in January when we go and I can't wait to see how a trip with a toddler will turn out. Hopefully she'll be potty trained by then.

I can kinda see how two so little and so close in age might make things seem to move slow for you. I'm definitely the opposite there though. It seems like the years just flew! These baby days really don't last long enough. :sad1:

Glad you had a nice dinner, despite all the food issues of the day. What's up with the grape refusal there? I thought they loved them! Maybe you should've grabbed some ketchup?

I was just thinking yesterday about the trips we took before our kids were born and how relaxing they were. Part of me longed to be able to do that again, but the other part of me knew that I would just miss the kids the whole time.

I'm sure I would miss Carter and Landon horribly if we went on a trip without them right now. I sometimes miss them when we go out to dinner without them. They say that once you have kids and you finally get a chance to go out alone, all you talk about is the kids. We try not to get stuck on that topic, but it is kind of fun to talk about them when they're not listening. :rotfl:

Yes, it definitely picks up... primarily, because you are running to the bathroom every 5 minutes! :rotfl:

Is that every 5 minutes per kid or total? Either way, I'd be happy to run them to the bathroom every 5 or 2.5 minutes to be done with diapers.

Sounds like a great trip... Can we go with you? Let's plan a empty nesters dis meet!

That would be fun! We should start planning it.

Sounds like I should be looking forward to age 3. Of course, in a way, I'm not looking forward to it, since they won't get in free any more. Good luck with the never growing up. :goodvibes

Sorry you missed out on a ride and a pork chop! I guess key lime pie sort of makes up for it! It looks like the boys really enjoyed it! Carter must have been talking with Audrey Anne because his quote about mac 'n cheese and grapes is straight out of her mouth. She loves "maccheese" but thinks that grapes are balls that I put on the plate for her amusement. They usually end up getting thrown across the room.

The key lime pie made up for it. We really had a very pleasant night, despite nothing working out the way I wanted it to. Carter and Landon loved their food at Sunshine Seasons. I'm not going to tell Landon what Audrey Anne does with grapes. He'd be throwing grape balls all over the room.:rotfl:

Hi There- I've just started stalking your TR.....and just wanted to say...that....the flamingos at DAK are on the Safari. The pink birds up front, are Roseate Spoonbills :)

Hi! Welcome! I will be the first to admit that I know very little about birds. It seemed a safe assumption that pink birds would be flamingos, but I guess not. That's very interesting. Maybe next time I'll read the sign.

:lmao:

I thought that was a cute picture of Carter. Nobody was going to sneak a grape on his fork and get away with it. Carter usually likes them, but apparently not that night. It was a very nice meal, though and the key lime pie was a lot of fun. Carter and Landon are enthusiastic pie eaters.

I'm sorry you didn't get to go on your thrill rides! Or get that pork chop! Sunshine Seasons seems like it has something for everyone, I really have to go there! :thumbsup2

The boys look very happy with their dinner, and I'm glad they liked their pie! :cool1:

The thrill rides would have been a lot of fun. If only we hadn't wasted all that time getting waters. Oh, well. Maybe next time. Sunshine Seasons is one of our favorites. I hope you get to try it someday.

The boys were very hungry, so they were happy to get their dinners. And of course, letting them have pie was really fun.

What no pork chop??? :confused3 What a bummer! :sad2:

Your boys are just so cute! Smart move skipping the grapes Carter...that MacCheese looks pretty yummy! popcorn:: And I must say that is a pretty fun name for it! :cutie:

Isn't that sad? It seems like Epcot was out of a lot of things that day.

Thanks! Carter sure thought his MacCheese was tasty. He ended up eating every last bite of it. I love Carter's pronunciations of words right now. There's nothing cuter than a two-year-old accent.

I love how happy they look after the key lime pie, too cute!! :goodvibes

I have always wanted to try the tuna there, it looks pretty good :thumbsup2

That key lime pie totally made their day. The boys could go to bed happy after that.

It is pretty good tuna, considering it's a counter service restaurant. Jeremy says that it's never as good as the first time he had it there, but I don't know if that is an actual reflection on quality or if he's remembering it too good.:rotfl:

Looks like another yummy meal at SS.

Very smart hiding the pie until the end:thumbsup2 I am sure I would forget that part.

We always have good meals at SS. I think one trip we ate there three times. :rotfl:

We're pretty good at remembering to hide the desserts til the end. One glimpse of key lime pie, and Carter's MacCheese would have lost all its appeal.

It was definitely an off-day for us. It was kind of funny how many things just didn't quite go right. I was expecting a perfect day, too, since Jeremy was back. The key lime pie did help our night to end on a good note.
No grapes in Carter's mouth! Carter was really loving his macaroni and cheese.

I probably shouldn't have talking about going on rides so loudly. Carter probably heard it in his sleep and woke up so he could go, too. I'm sure he thinks he's ready for Mission Space orange. :rotfl:

No pork chop. It was too bad, really. After no Chewy Caramel Bars, I wouldn't have thought they'd be out of something again.

That Key Lime Pie was wonderful! I'm glad they had that.

That's certainly true, we're always wanting more. This trip was way too short. Even though the day didn't go as I thought, it was still a pretty good day, overall. We had a lot of fun.

What an eventful day at Epcot! It stinks that you missed out on the Caramel Chewy Bar and the pork chops, but at least you got yummy Key Lime Pie and the American Dream. :) I will be trying all of your Epcot recommendations on our upcoming trip.

Our Epcot day was kind of crazy, but it was a lot of fun, still. I do wish they had had the Chewy Caramel Bars. I keep wondering now, if they're really as good as I think or if they won't be able to live up to the hype the next time I get one. I hope you like all my favorite Epcot foods.
Carter and Landon are very sweet boys. I'm very lucky to have them. I love to see all the things they do and the faces they make. You know, I've been hearing that 3 is a great age, so I'm guessing your trip will be really fun. Good luck with potty training!

I should talk to someone with twins and see if they think it goes by really slow. Maybe it's just me. I can think of so many fun things to do with the boys when they're a little big older. Probably the years will start flying by soon enough.

Generally speaking, Carter and Landon do both love grapes. Occasionally, though, one of them will refuse to eat a food that he usually enjoys. I don't really know why. The best I can come up with is that Carter just really, really wanted macaroni and cheese.:confused3 I'm sure Carter would have been willing to dip grapes in ketchup for me, but he doesn't like ketchup himself.:rotfl:

 I suppose I am, too.

After dinner, my first thought was to take the boys on Living with the Land. That wasn't my favorite, but I thought Carter would enjoy it, since he loves rides.

Living with the Land was already closed. I should have known it would be. Oh, well.

We left The Land pavilion. I was kind of surprised to find it had gotten dark outside.

"What time is it?"

"It's almost nine."

"Really? Wow. Where has the day gone? I guess that means there's not much point in going to The Seas."

"Probably not."

That was okay. If we left now, we could still have an early night and get a good start at the Magic Kingdom tomorrow.

As we walked slowly toward the exit, I heard the very familiar beep of a Kim Possible Kimmunicator.

Carter giggled. I checked on him and was surprised to find he had our Kimmunicator from the abandoned Kim Possible mission that we had never finished.

I wondered how long Carter had had that. We found the nearby CM and turned it in, much to Carter's disappointment. He thought that Kimmunicator would have made an excellent souvenir.

There was hardly anyone around, since Illuminations was going off. We got a chance to see some of the topiaries we had only seen from afar on the way in.

We passed by Spaceship Earth and it was magnificent all lit up at night. I couldn't believe I was saying good bye to Epcot already. This trip was way too short.

DSCI0325.JPG

But at least I had one more whole day at the Magic Kingdom coming up. And it had been a very good day at Epcot.

DSCI0326.JPG

We paused to admire the Toy Story display and to gaze at the grand and miraculous Spaceship Earth.

It had been a wonderful day.

We made it back to Pop Century. Jeremy still hadn't even been to the room. The boys were eager to show off the finer points of the room to their Daddy.

Carter seemed especially pleased that Jeremy was still there and wasn't going to leave again.

Jeremy and I started getting everything ready for bed while the boys played a little.

"Hey, Kate. Is he supposed to be playing with that?"

That's never a question I like to hear. I looked over and saw Landon playing the room phone. Mousekeeping had helpfully placed it back on the table in plain view instead of leaving where I had hidden it from Landon.

Landon was holding the receiver up to his ear and jabbering away while banging all the buttons. I rushed over to get the phone away from him.

Landon saw me coming and started babbling even faster. I picked him up and tried to get the phone away from him. He held on tightly and kept gibbering until he said bye.

Once he said bye, he let go of the phone and gave me an irritated look, surprised that I would be so rude as to interrupt his conversation before he was through. He crawled off and I hid the phone again.

After that, getting ready for bed went pretty smoothly. We got the boys into jammies and turned down the lights and tried to create a relaxed mood so they'd go right to sleep.

It was during tooth brushing that the knock on the door came. It was a loud and insistent knock.

It startled me, because no one should be knocking on our door at night.

"Probably just some kids playing around. Let's not answer it. It can't be anything good."

"Security! Open up!"

Security? My plan of ignoring it didn't seem quite as feasible anymore. Jeremy opened the door to see what Security could possibly want from us this time of night.

"We received a call from this room."

The officer was looking around at all of us suspiciously.

"We didn't call Security. Everything's fine here."

"Oh! I bet Landon called Security. Our toddler got his hands on the phone awhile ago. I'm so sorry he called you all."

"That's all right. We're required to check out every phone call, no matter who calls."

"Sorry about that. We'll make sure he doesn't get the phone again."

"All right. Have a nice night."

He left and about ten seconds after we closed the door, Landon said bye.

What a crazy day. Luckily Landon's phone call hadn't disturbed the sleepy mood too much and we got everyone in bed and turned out the lights.

Carter had some interesting thoughts tonight.

"Daddy. Mommy. Carter. Landon. Good."

It was good.

"Carter, 2T. Landon, 2T. Blue Dog, 2T. Bear, 2T. Daddy, 5T!"

Carter laughed hysterically for several minutes over that one. He laughed until he fell asleep.

I realized I hadn't set an alarm for our ADR the next morning, but we probably didn't need one. Carter would take care of waking everyone up.

Kate, a great day at Epcot...despite some disappointments with food.

I am :lmao::lmao::lmao: that Landon called security. And here you thought he was just babbling; he was really makign security came to check that all was okay with all of you and he and Carter probably arranged it to be sure Jeremy didn't go anywhere.

Can't wait to read about your full day at the Magic Kingdom.

What a nice end to your Epcot day! I love your family photo! :)

Oh little Landon...you are so silly! At least Paul Blart didn't show up at your door! ;):rotfl: I'm glad that they investigate...

Oh Magic Kingdom is my favorite!!!! :surfweb:

Love the family pic at EPCOT. :thumbsup2

I have to admit that I almost expected a pizza guy at your door, ya know. Glad it was nothing serious, even if he must've made it seem that way on the phone. :rotfl:

Had to go back a couple pages to get caught up but all those food pictures are making me hungry!

That is too funny about Landon calling security.

What a great end to a great day! Love that Landon called security on y'all! :rotfl: Maybe he didn't agree with something you were doing & felt like he needed back-up! :confused3 Can't wait to hear about MK day! I bet those 2 precious boys had a wonderful time! :goodvibes

Landon calling security is too funny! :lmao: What a crazy little boy! The security officer seemed nice, I would have been worried that he would be upset to show up and find out he was summoned by a toddler! :rotfl:

I hope that Carter indeed wakes you up in time, your last statement sounds potentially ominous!
