ever disneymooned and NOT get special treatment?

We didn't wear the bride/groom ears on our honeymoon, but we wore the pins and received special treatment of some sort from most places. Whether it was a heartfelt "congrats" or a free dessert, it was rare that it ever went completely unacknowledged.

On the flip side, we've celebrated anniversaries there and had it go by completely unnoticed, even when the celebration was listed on the reservation and we were wearing our buttons. We go in with our expectations low, and are so happy if we receive any type of acknowledgement.

I agree to not expect something....though I often wondered why they ask "Are you celebrating anything" when you book dining reservations. Why even ask? We've celebrated several special moments (Anniversaries/birthdays) and booked reservations, telling them what we were celebrating, yet never even got congratulations. :confused3 I agree not to expect anything, but by the same token, why do they even ask if your celebrating something special, if they aren't going to acknowledge it with a simple "congratulations".

I guess I'm the only one that will admit they "expected" something, when we booked Remy on our anniversary cruise, especially after annotating it on our reservation. Just a verbal acknowledgment would have been nice (especially after paying over $300 for dinner for two)!

We're honeymooning in Disney in late October of this year and while we do have the ears and we are planning on getting matching shirts, we're not expecting anything at all. We're just doing it because it's fun and it'll be a great way to have something with our date on it from Disney World!

We received a beaded giraffe from the AKL, chocolates, candy and even a set of matching beaded elephant key rings from a random CM at the check-in desk during our VR stay.

We also got free dessert at every other place we ate at and so many congratulations when we wore our buttons.

The very first time we stayed at the AKL we were celebrating our anniversary and one day we returned to our room and found a set of wooden figurines and a photo signed by Belle and the Beast. Made our whole vacation, we were so happy.

At Pop I have gotten signed birthday cards during a couple of my birthday trips, free dessert, even at counter service.

at our latest anniversary trip at the GF we were gifted roses and a bottle of champagne plus a lot of attention.

DH is in charge of our resort reservations, I make the dining and entertaining ones, we always mention it is our anniversary or birthday when we are celebrating it. We also go in not expecting anything and don't get flustered if nothing happens, being at WDW is a celebration on itself, anything thrown in is like an extra cherry on top.

We got lots of special treatment when we stayed at the Polynesian (first half of our honeymoon)-extravagant towel animals every day, chocolates, real flower lei's, the CM's at our CL lounge kept referring us as the "bride and groom"-they made us feel so special the whole time! We didn't get noticed much while at the WL honeymoon suite (second half of our honeymoon), aside from an initial congratulations when we checked in....but that was OK.

In the parks, we got congratulations and smiles from CM's and guests wherever we went, free desserts, free champagne at Artist's Point one night, free wine tasting at California Grill, and a few times we got a special phone call from Minnie Mouse wishing us congratulations (once at the Poly store & once in the American Adventure Pavilion).

We wore our "Just Married" pins everyday, but not our bride/groom ears.

We didn't really receive any special treatment. Our table was decorated (confetti) at one of the restaurants, that is all I can recall. No free desserts, but we were on the DDP.

We went with absolutely no expectations. We wore our "just married" pins I had to snag from ebay since you can't get them anymore... and I wore a custom made white mouse ears wedding fascinator since the headbands give me a headache.

We received many congrats and well wishes, at the Poly we got a real flower lei, we got a few free cupcake desserts with chocolate congrats icing messages, and a few extra small tokens here and there. All in all, not much but a little extra pixie dust that was definitely appreciated!

I think the key is to go in without much expectations and just enjoy what you are gifted with. The well wishes and words of congrats meant the most as they all seemed heart-felt!

We wore our just married buttons, and I wore the bride ears most of the time. We had great conversations with many CM which made the Disneymoon great!
As far as "free" things, we did receive a free dessert with "Congratulations" written in chocolate on the plate from Coral Reef Restaurant :goodvibes

It really is just fun to hear everyone wish you congratulations especially when you are killing time in line, or waiting for a reservation at a restaurant! My husband isn't much of a talker to strangers, but he was getting into full on conversations with people about how great DFTW was :rotfl:

Not that you are expecting anything, but it's okay to wonder if anything 'extra' magical will happen...there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but like other's have said 'don't expect it'...one way to just make yourself have a better time though is be friendly! Smile a lot, you're on your honeymoon! My DH chats with EVERYONE...so much so that people have mistaken him for a celebrity because waiters have come over shaken his hand from previous dining visits at WDW :confused3(during same trip of course) he smiles all the time and just really loves to have a great time, a family behind us at Kona Cafe bought us a drink because we occupied their baby for a bit. (that was more my kids and me that time...;) On our Anniversary trip this past February he said to the woman checking us in 'Hey, do you have any Anniversary buttons? This is our first trip ever without the kids! We're so excited!' well, that was it! She was so sweet, not only did we get the buttons she upgraded our room and gave us vouchers for free drinks at the bar! I was shocked but like I said, my husband is just a genuinely really nice guy. She was so funny, she goes," before I give you your things you need to repeat after me 'yes dear'...no look at her and say it 'yes dear yes dear'...:rotfl2: She said, that's how you stay married 25 years and more!"

If you are having a great time and happen to be friendly and just nice, you'll have a great time no matter what! You can't walk around WDW with a scowl on your face and wonder why nobody is paying any attention...not saying that's what others do, but if you're happy and excited...show it! Don't feel self conscious, spread the positive vibes and you'll have a magical time :goodvibes

We're not expecting any free stuff, but our honeymoon will be my fiance's first time at Disney and so I'm hoping that the CM's will congratulate us and help me show him how magical Disney really is! :) I really want to get my hands on the "Just Married" buttons, fortunately our honeymoon isn't for another year and a half so I'm keeping my eyes open until then!

It's been 8 years since our vow renewal and I only really remember a couple of things besides congratulations. The bartender at the Rose & Crown pub drew a heart in our Guinness (I also remember a woman at the bar getting all excited over us congratulating us and being thrilled about it). And at the castle (and this was 2005 so Cinderella's Royal Table was different) at lunch the funniest one of all happened. We checked in downstairs and the host spoke into his radio "We have a honeymoon, I repeat a honeymoon." DH and I just cracked up it was like a special ops mission! The girl hostess asked if we got married there (we'd given up explaining a VR and just said yes at the Wedding Pavilion earlier in the week). Our table was decorated with confetti and we got champagne flutes to take home. We still use them.
Worth noting on our 1st honeymoon 18 years ago nothing at all happened. They didn't have the buttons and all and we only mentioned it when we checked in.

We only wore ours 1 day in the MK and nothing beyond congrats happened. I wasn't wearing the bridal ears though, I wore a tiara and H wore a mickey tophat. We wore the happily ever after pins. We ended up taking them off because we felt weird, like we were fishing for special treatment or something.

I felt like this, too! We had another couple on their honeymoon at our resort. They wore matching "just married" shirts each day PLUS the buttons PLUS the ears. Truthfully, it did feel like they were advertising to get stuff...

I did buy us each wedding trading pins, which are smaller and much nicer. They were only noticed occasionally, which was just fine by me! We did receive toasting glasses at CRT and some chocolate covered strawberries from Downtown Disney, but both were just through chatting with CM's and not from advertising.

My future wife and I will be disneymooning the last week of Sept 3013, staying on one of the Honeymoon Suites at WL. Like other PP's, we'll be wearing our Bride & Groom ears, and going not expecting anything special, but if it happens, great!

Future wife's birthday will also be occurring during our honeymoon, and we'll be doing dinner at V&A's for that occasion!

When my sister got married in Mexico she got lots of little extras from the resort to say thank you for bringing your guests here. A fruit basket and fresh flowers upon check in, free room upgrade to a very large suite, champagne in the room while the bridal party got ready, romantic turn down service the night of the wedding including a drawn bath and roses on the bed, breakfast in bed the next morning. None of these things were advertised in the wedding package, just staff going above and beyond for the bride and groom. None of these things were expected, but boy were they appreciated. I don't think anyone expects anything free at Disney, but I think a free dessert here or there would make a honeymooning couple feel very special.
