Ever "bribed" someone to go on a ride?

As mentioned earlier I started when my now 7yo DS was 5. He got a pin for any ride he went on. That was motivation enough for him. However, my other DS who is now 5 could care less about a pin or any other bribes. Hes either going or not...no talking him out or into it. Funny how different they are isn't it.

While I was in the Italy pavilion, an Italian family offered me money to take their son on a ride. She was trying to have a conversation with the CM (in Italian of course) and her son was soooo hyper. She said to me, "will you take my son on a ride? I'll pay you." :rotfl: I just looked at her kind of surprised. She kept going on about how she was serious and she really would pay me and would I please take her son on a ride. :rotfl:

My sis is a real wimp when it comes to rides-I mean, I'm not a big fan of roller coasters in general, but I've been on ToT and SplsM etc. I bribed her last year to get her to go on Test Track and she loved it.

I had to bribe my DF to try Its A Small World and despite his reservations he liked it!!

LOL - I used to bribe my daughter with toys and money and anything else i could think of in order to get her to try new rides. She always loves them and always wants to go back on. But it was worth it...she is 13 now and will ride pretty much anything. We are major coaster people so it's good she likes them too! It makes going to amusement parks that much more fun then when you have to leave someone behind!

I once bribed my cousin's then 8 year old daughter with $20.00 to ride Spaceship Earth. Can you believe it? :rotfl2: She would ride just about anything else, but refused to go in that flimsy old thing! Kids can be SO funny!

I like the idea about using the pins for the ride as a bribe. May have to do that on our Sept trip.

We have yet to have to bribe dd at WDW yet, however she will be 40" tall this time and will be able to go on SM and BTMRR and those will probably take some bribery (although we're thinking of telling her BTMRR is just a train ride).

Please Do not tell her its just a Train ride! My husbands parents told my husband that when he was little now he will not ride hardly ride the rides thier are a few hm pirates buzz and a few others but other than that I cant get him on anything.

My parents told me the Backlot tour was just a little train ride when I was younger. But when we got to Catastrophe Canyon, I screamed and cried. It was awful. I hated it that they had tricked me :guilty:
I do love the ride now that I'm a lot older.

You shouldn't need a bribe for Dinosaur. It's great. Not scary or intense at all. (Okay, it might be a little scary for a four-year-old, but your command of the written word tells me you're older than that! :) )

My vacation buddy was afraid to go on Dinosaur because she thought she'd reinjure her back, but she got off at the end and said it was no problem at all.

What about for someone who is deathly afraid of anything Dinosaury? :rotfl: I can't even watch the Land Before Time films without being scared, let alone a trailer for Jurassic Park!

I have to laugh at this. I thought I had researched all the rides at all 4 parks for our trip in March, 2005. I guess I figured Backlot Tour was not worth researching. I had no idea about Catastrophe Canyon. We were on the tram and was sitting on the outside, right by the canyon. I had no idea what was about to happen. Let me just say the lady next to me and I got really up close and personal.

I can't help you with the fear of dinosaury things. lol But, I can say Dinosaur is jerky but not a bad ride. Not like a rollercoaster or anything. You can always close your eyes if you don't want to see them.

My sister bribed my youngest DD to ride a coaster when she was young. She had to giver her $20 and a shirt that said she rode the thing. It wasn't at Disney but she hated it!!! Still isn't a big coaster fan and neither is her mother. lol Does LOVE RNRC though so go figure!

Thanks for your concern, I appreciate it. :goodvibes My dd loves rollercoasters, once she is on them, so I don't think we'll scar her for life. Although now I am thinking about doing the pin thing to get her on new rides.

As I said before, we know her ride threshold and would never make her go on something we know she would hate (ie: Haunted Mansion) or make her go on something again she said she didn't like.

i bribe my old college roommate to go to wdw. every year she says she doesn't know if she can go. i usually convince her although sometimes i have to bribe her w/a couple of boxes of pocky from japan. she managed to get me on astro orbiter one year. i hate things that go in a circle. i can't remember how she bribed me, but there had to have been one.

i think my parents must have bribed me w/ice cream when i was little. my mom managed to get me to go on sm even after having seen someone wheeled off on a stretcher. i really hope it was something more then ice cream though! it is quite sad, but i can easily be bribed w/ ice cream. bf uses it all the time!

Not in Disney, but in our local theme park there was a bungee jump thing. My friends got me on it by paying for my ticket and offering me a funnel cake with ice cream and strawberries. What can I say, I'm a sucker. I screamed and cried the entire time. It was awful!! But man, that funnel cake was really good when I was safely on land! ;)

My 9 year old really wanted a Tower of Terror light up pen he saw in the gift shop and I told him he coudln't get it unless he rode the ride. He did ride but didn't like it and said he'd never go back, but was really glad he got his pen.

:mickeybar This kind of ice cream works for me!

I laughed when I saw the title to this thread, because DS and I were just talking about this very thing!

When DS was 5, he didn't want to go on POTC. I knew he would like it, because he likes Pirate stuff.
But he saw how dark it was, and was scared.

I told him it just had puppies and flowers in it!!! :flower2: :dog: :flower1: :dog2: :rose: pug:

Hey, there are dogs in it, and I did see some weeds and flower-kind of things!!

He was very mad at me, but did enjoy the ride, and loved it the next year when he went on it!! pirate:

the first year I took my sister in law to Disney with us, I took her on the rides saying they weren't scary and I managed to get her to do every thrill ride they had at this time. I think we did have to bribe my nephew a few times though to go on rides.

:lmao: I am going to Animal Kingdom tomorrow. I am still in the process of using the bribe method for getting my mother to ride Expedition Everest. I rode it once before and I told her that there is really nothing to worry about - it is fun.

She loves Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain, and used to enjoy Space Mountain. However, she is scared to attend Everest.

I just told her if she rides it I would give her $50, you would think she would take the offer - well not her! I dont know what to do now, I practically tried everything. :confused3

 I told DS6 that he just HAD to ride TOT for the family picture. The picture shows this poor terrified child--he said it wasn't too bad but says he won't go on it again until he's a teenager.
