Ever been sick on a vacation?

Last Nov my DH came home on R&R from Iraq. We went to WDW to finish the honeymoon that came to an abrupt halt with a call from the higher ups to come home to help plan a war. Anyways, the weather changes and the time zones did him in and he started with a major sinus cold the day we flew out. By the end of the week he and I both had bronchitis and bad fever. We flew home to be greeted by my mama who promptly took us to the hospital. Good news is that they put us in the same hospital room for the other week he was home before going back to Iraq. Isn't that romantic?

My sister got sick with mono when we went on vacation down the shore last year. She got tests taken a couple days before we left and the doctor told us about the mono the day we went down. She spent the first 2 days just laying in bed and staying around the house. After that, she did stay in bed longer than usual, but she did manage to get up and go out sometimes.

Once I did get sick on a flight  Now there is no fun in trying to hug the "plastic god" in a 2 foot by 2 foot room.
Yeah I could have used the bags, but I had made puppets out of them.

That'll learn ya! ;)

Last December first night of my trip went to Boma - stuffed myself and felt bad going to sleep - thought it was from overeating. Had an emergency appendectomy at 10 pm the next day. Spent the rest of the time in the room.

Went for a makeup trip in January - slipped on some tile and landed on my chin - another trip to ER. I couldn't ride any of those rides that say "no neck problems" and was very tired.

My friends were telling me never go to Florida again - like I would listen to that.

 Oh, it was so awful. :( For my college graduation, my mom treated me to 3 nights at the Disneyland Hotel and 4 days at Disneyland or something like that. While I rebelled somewhat in early high school, in late high school and college, my mom and I became really close and went on several mom/daughter DL trips. This was to be our last as I was getting married a few months later. Anyway, the night I went to the college grad ceremony, I felt light-headed and feverish. I thought it was just excitement. Then Dad treated us (about 10-12 of us) to dinner at a very nice restaurant. Then my best friend and fiance came over to my house and we goofed around, had a little champage....well, I was up all night praying at the porcelin god if you know what I mean. It was BAD. The next day ALL of my friends and family came over for a BBQ, and I couldn't eat a thing, running to the bathroom often. It was so awful and what was worse, people were joking with me like it was a hangover. I still was woozy the first two days at Disneyland and now the illness was at the point where it was affected the "other" end and again, glad I knew where the bathrooms were at Disneyland. THEN, the worst part happened- my mom got it. We were waiting for the Aladdin parade to begin and my poor mother had to RUN to the bathroom as she was afraid she was going to throw up in the street.

God, it was so bad.

We had lots of chicken noodle soup from the then Monorail Cafe. Then the A/C on my mom's car broke and so we "had" to stay an extra night. The DL hotel was very kind and only charged us 50% of the room rate. We finally were both feeling okay the last day and we toured the park...I think I made it to the parks every day (was also meeting a friend who lived in San Diego for one day), but it wasn't very fun. Pack Imodium for any trip- it's VERY expensive at hotel gift shops! ;)

Sam got sick on Sunday of our trip (we checked in Friday night). He alternated between sleeping and puking all day Sunday. Monday he was still sleepy, be we werent planning to do a park that day, we were driving down to Sarasota to visit some family. We went ahead with the plan since he wasnt puking, but he slept all day on her couch. Tuesday he woke up and told us he was ready to go to Epcot, but he was still kinda out of it. He just sat and napped in a stroller whiel DH and I toured World Showcase. By Wednesday the kid was ready to go commando touring.

As for me, I have had plenty of bad colds on vacations, but never at WDW. Most of our other vacations are family visits, so being sick isnt a big deal.

Unfortunately
This year in Feb we went to Universal and Sea World over vacation. Vacation was the week after Presidents Week. I came down with that stomach bug the day before Presidents Day. We left a week after I got sick and while I wasn't puking or dealing with any other tummy issues anymore, I had NO energy. And still no appetite. I pushed myself way too hard (I'm a commando) and my friend and I are pretty sure that's why I've been sick with just about everything that's gone around since I got home. Still sick now in June, but totally different thing. We just expect that my immune system didn't get the chance to come back up to the level it should be at. However, I had a great time on the trip, aside from sleeping more than usual and being exhausted. But I learned I can't push like that if I've been sick. That's prolly the best advice.
Caught a stomach bug coming home from WDW in Feb 2002...started throwing up in the airport. NOw that was a fun flight home. We had terrible turbulance too. So at least I wasn't the only one filling bags.

Yes, I had a bad stomach virus last October when we went to WDW. I just took the painful cramps and went anyway and had fun. :D

I got sick in Mexico even though I was careful what I ate. It only lasted a few days, but at the time I was convinced that I had the Dengue fever, or some other tropical disease.:(
