Ever been hurt on a ride/attraction?

Oh my goodness!! The same thing happened to me on that ride. I'll never ride it again!

Did it really!!! You know, after I got off I wondered if it had ever happened to anyone before...because it seemed so easy. I had been on it before and I was all right, but like you, I won't ride it again. It was too scary.

The scariest thing was a few months after returning, we found out my Dh had a spinal stenosis in his neck. The doctor basically said if he was even hit in the car at 5 miles an hour, his neck could have been paralyzed. If DH had been me on Dudley Do-Right (he was riding in back of me and was just fine) he might have been seriously, seriously injured. We had no idea he even had anything wrong with his neck....he was asymptomatic and had been walking around with it for years. It's too scary that something like that can happen and I'm not taking that chance again!

I have another that I just remembered...

We were leaving MK in the evening, and had just gotten on the monorail, but the doors hadn't yet closed. There was a CM in the monorail with us, and he was leaning out the door, yelling down the walkway at someone he knew (not yelling in anger, but they were far down and he was trying to say something to them.) Anyway, you can guess what happened...the doors closed, right on his head, then reopened again right away. I'm sure it hurt, but he seemed more embarrassed than anything.

I mean, a CM should know better, right? I did laugh a little, after the fact.

A friend of mine at work had a piece of firework from Illuminations land in his eye. But he didn't go to first aid or tell anybody at Disney. After he got home, his eye kept bothering him and he wrote a letter to Disney explaining what happened. They sent him a check for $500!!! We told him how stupid he was for not informing anyone at the time.

Same trip...the guy doesn't like drops of any kind and his family convinced him to go on Splash Mountain. He was basically having an anxiety attack after the first 2 small drops and had convinced himself he wouldn't survive the last one. So...mid-way through the "up" portion of the last hill he decided to jump off!!! There are some stairs over to the right and he twisted his ankle when he landed. He said the ride immediately shut down and a voice came over the speaker tellling him not to move. Someone showed up and walked him out. His wife and son were mortified and had to sit there in the middle of the hill for about 20 minutes until the ride started again. He said they didn't get kicked out of the MK, but he was sternly reprimanded and asked to not EVER do something like that again.

Needless to say, that family will not ever visit Disney again!

Now everytime I ride Splash Mountain, I look over at those stairs and think of him. :lmao:

Once banged my head whilst riding Back To The Future at Universal.

Was sat at the back where there is less headroom, wasn't badly hurt though.

Many Many years ago, we went on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and just as we were boarding the door on the submarine started to close and hit my Aunt on her neck. She was ok just had a little pain in the neck !! :rotfl2:

hi all,
well never in wdw,but when i was 12 or 13 we went to dollywood in tenn.it was no ones fault really.i went on a flume type ride and on the drop something flew into my eye.my folks spent a hour trying to rinse my eye,but it was no use.something felt like it was stuck in my eye and it started to swell shut,we went ot first aid, where they confirmed i had a scratch on the pupil part of my eye.i was in a lot of pain for 4 or 5 days and had to wear a patch, cause any breeze or light would cause me alot of pain and my eye to tear real bad.in case your wondering we did not sue or even ask them to cover the dr's or medicene bill.it really was no ones fault, just a accident that no one could prevent.btw we had family with us and that we were staying with and i was the center of a lot of pirate jokes from my cousins cause of that eye patch.

Two weeks ago, on my favorite ride!!! We were in the last "seat" of the "car" my ears were killing me when we got off--like they were banged against the side "bars". I mentioned it to my hubby, he said the same thing--it must be something to do with the last seat???We never had this happen before.......

A young girl had broken here elbow on TOT. She said she had been sitting in a seat near the wall and when the ride went down she held up her hands and then when the ride went back up her arm hit the edge of the wall/seat.

Ouch!

Being a tall person with long legs I constantly find myself hitting my knees when I'm getting on a ride. I have had some very coloful bruises!

I am so with you on that one. That is just one more reason that I don't like being so tall.

I use crutches to help me walk, and when it rains, usually in the MK, the ground can be slippery. I took a real good fall one year walking from the Crystal Palace towards the entrance to Adventureland, I may have bruised a rib.

Since I was so close to the first aid station, someone was there in a flash.

Forgot that I have a friend who did the same thing on the outside stairs in the rain, she got a scraped knee. The bartenders gave her some ice for it and she got teased by some of the cast about her boo boo.

Sigh... That was me.

My true moment of glory, though, was during the AP previews for the opening of Islands of Adventure. With all the big thrill rides there, I managed to get a black eye on the Caro-Seuss-el.

My advice to everyone is save your story. You never know when you may need to retell an embarrassing moment at the Comedy Warehouse.

Can't you still hear Fletcher Hodges saying "awwww...did you get a boo boo."

Just this January my son, wearing flip-flops literally fell HEAD FIRST down 5-8 rows of bleachers at Lights Motor Action at the end of the show. He has ADHD as well as some other medical issues and wanted out of the show at that minute. He went tumbing down the actual seats where you sit. By the grace of someone he was not seriously hurt. He did bang his forehead, nose, chin and knee pretty badly. What amazed, and scared me, was that the whole incident was witnessed by 100's of guests, those nearby where very helpful in stopping the fall. however, the only time a CM appeared was once we were at the bottom of the bleachers! They told us we could walk to the front of the park for first aid!

DD and I got the last seat last visit as well. My ears weren't hurting but sure had a headache. It must be something about the last seat... maybe you feel it more??? I wouldn't call mine an injury but we've always been towards the front and it's never happened before.

I got a nasty wedgie on a slide at Blizzard Beach!
My head got banged around on the Hulk at Universals IOA, and my food challenge at Universal Studios came up for a visit to the "bucket" while I was downing my partner's portion (after successfully downing mine). :woohoo:

4 of my family of 5 have been injured while at WDW.
  • Me: While walking from the parking lot to our 2nd floor CBR room, I cut a corner too close (obviously) and, the corner of the rail sliced my forearm as a knife would slice.
  • DD3: Kept tripping over the "seams" in the sidewalk at CBR. She scraped both her knees. We put big Band-Aids on them and she kept falling and ripping up Band-Aids. She was distracted looking at bunnies, ducks, ducklings, and lizards.
  • DD8: On Test Track, her neck got hurt when the car makes the sharp turns.
  • DS2: Aparently, mousekeeping moved dd8's homework. It must have fallen from the top shelf and she put it under the sink. DS2 found the pencil and immediately took off running with it. He fell and the pencil cut and bruised his forehead.:faint: This totally freaked me out but, it wasn't deep enough to require stitches or anything. *shiver*

Yeah it did happen. And that thing with your husband is scary! Glad he's ok.

I got whiplash, not at WDW, but at IofA, on the Dudley rollercoaster/waterride.
