HI, my good friends are renting and booked for a reservation Nov 11 -16th. I know that ALL DVC resorts are booked completly on November 11th, their checkin date. Is there a possibility they won't have a room. I am so nervous for them, since I suggested they rent and set up the rental (from a good friend).

I guess I just would like some confirmation from you DVC pros that they won't get bumped to another DVC resort. They really want the Boardwalk and they have a one bedroom there.

Thanks!

There should only be two reasons for them not being able to check into the resort they reserved - self extenders (and there is an entire thread on them) or maintenance issues. DVC retains a portion of the villas for to resolve the maintenance issues, but if the problem is too big, they might have to move to a different resort. Rarely happens, though.

We've had reservations for very popular times of the year (all DVC resorts sold out) nearly every time we've gone. Never had a problem (and we always stay at BWV). Your friends will be fine.

I agree with DebbieB - it's possible (but very, very unlikely) that someone gets bumped.

Thanks thats what we wanted to hear!!

Just one more questions for the two of you, since you are pros! Just want to make sure they can buy their park tickets and pay for Dining (already booked by the DVC member) with their Disney VISA Reward points at checkin. If they can, can the purchase of their park tickets be done right at checkin and have their tickets placed right on their room cards? Or do they have to go to a separate line (guest services) to buy their tickets? Thanks.

Also, if they have left over points after buying dining and tickets (they have been saving a while!) can they just have that on the room key so they can charge against it.

Sorry if I am asking this in the wrong forumn! Just not sure if DVC checkins are really different!

Thanks Again!

We used Disney Reward points towards our DDP when we checked in. And they should be able to put their newly purchased tickets on their room key. We have purchased tickets for our guests at the check in line in the past.

Did they transfer their rewards points to a rewards card? That card is just like a VISA card when used on property. You can make transfers instantly by phone (which I did standing in line at a QS eatery and having realized that I forgot to do it before we had left home) or on-line. You do need to manage the card because once transferred, any unused points will expire with the card. I believe the card is good until the end of the year after you order it.

Actually it was Deb & Bill who posted, but I agree too! ;)

I've never heard of someone getting bumped and if it happened I'm sure they would make some accomodation.

I remember 2 or 3 posts over the years where people were bumped. My recollection was that the true reason this happened was never revealed. In the two that I recall somewhat one was given BWI or BC concierge and the other bumped from BCV (? 2 BR) and given a 3 BR at OKW though were initially told they would get a 2 BR at OKW since they were an owner there and that was why they were chosen to be bumped. But I seem to recall that one had to fight more than the other to get satisfaction, the OKW GV one.

Things Happen but my impression is that Disney is usually very good in recovering from this type of situation.
