Ever Been Bumped off a Flight?

They asked for volunteers Sun, 25 Nov, while we were going from Texas to Missouri. My daughter and I agreed to wait three hours until the next flight and each of us received lunch and $300 credit on American Airlines. It was only noon so we didn't mind waiting. Plan on going back to WDW Mar 03. If we don't use it within one year, $50 will be knocked off.

I bet there are people out there that volunteer all the time and fly free a lot!

We were bumped off a flight Tuesday after T-day last yr. We had already checked in and just a little before boarding they called me to the podium and offer me $400 for each of our 4 seats, put us on a flight that left a hour later but only arrived about 10 minutes later, and paid for dinner.

I took the deal. ;-)

We used part of the vouchers to pay our trip next week (which were a steal at $100 each), and they renewed the remainder of the voucher for another year. Yippee!

Nov. 24 eve, got a $350. voucher plus overnight in hotel for voluntary bump off Delta flight leaving Orlando for Boston. Original ticket cost $230, round trip. Got on 7 AM flight next morning.

Had volunteered unsuccessfully on this routing about ten times in the past 4 years. No one was bumped except Sept. 3 eve MCO-BOS, was 4'th volunteer, first three wanted to be bumped all or none, and Delta needed exactly 3 seats. I supposed I would have gotten that $500 voucher (no hotel) if they needed any number of seats other than 3.

Several years ago got voucher good for standby outbound (or 24 hour advance reservation) round trip anywhere in 48 states from United, voluntary bump off flight from Dulles (DC) to Boston, original ticket cost about $150. round trip. Got on flight leaving two hours later. Used voucher for trip from Boston to New Orleans.

I was bumped this year on our way down to WDW in July. I paid $175 per ticket via Priceline and was given $200 per ticket in vouchers . They sprang for breakfast that morning and we arrived about 2 hours late. We'll be using those vouchers on our May trip.

We volunteered for a three day delay bump on Delta last New Year's. Fortunately we didn't have to be home(NY) for work or school, so we were delighted to be in Orlando for the extra time. We received a total of $4000 in vouchers(4 people), vouchers for dinner at restaurant at the airport, and two suites at Amerisuites for our 3 night stay.

a few years ago (dh and I) from ORD to MSN. We only had to wait about 90 minutes and got $200 each and dinner. The following summer, my son and I used the vouchers to visit my father in NJ and only had to pay $40 more for the two of us for tickets!! I will always take a bump if given a chance!!

I often purposely book flights that I know will be full expressly so that I can get bumped. Been doing it for years.

We got bumped this summer on a trip out west and received flight vouchers. That's how we're returning to Disney in January!! All smiles from us. We were delayed 7 hours--they gave us a day room at a hotel, $$ for dinner, and flew us first class on the way home. Now that was very, very cool. We told our kids to enjoy it while they could!

Not me, but once on a business trip they asked for volunteers. I was traveling with a co-worker on the return leg. He volunteered for a free RT ticket and the next flight out. I wanted to get home to my wife after 3 weeks. Due to thunderstorms, my flight was the last out that day as they closed the airport. He did not get back for more than 24 hours after me.

Jodi1980-Our vouchers are from Delta and we have a year to redeem them, for travel that can take place within another year.(vouchers received 12/00 must be redeemed by 12/01 for travel until 12/02).
