Extra Magic Hours in the evening? - on certain days:
Sunday - Epcot (evening)
Monday - Disney's Animal Kingdom (morning)
Tuesday - Disney-MGM Studios (evening)
Wednesday - Epcot (morning); Magic Kingdom (evening)
Thursday - Disney's Animal Kingdom (evening)
Friday - Magic Kingdom (morning)
Saturday - Disney-MGM Studios (morning)

How will they handle it? They'll issue wristbands

Will they clear the park? Park closes like normal. Non wristband will not be able to ride the rides

It is easy to monitor in the AM, but in the PM!!??? We'll have to wait and see

Would they handle it like E-ticket nights? Kinda

Maybe have to get a ticket? No

oogieboogie....thanks!:p

If it goes over well.....do you think they will continue it into June?

I guess we will have to wait and see on that one.:p

I emailed WDW and told them I thought nighttime EMH was a great idea and hoped that they would continue to have them when we were there in June. Here's their reply:

"...Guests staying at a Disney-owned and operated resort during the Extra Magic Hour test period will be notified by postcard before their arrival (and again upon check-in) of this change to assist them with planning their stay. They will also be directed to a website with details of the offerings. The schedule and details of the offering will also be distributed to resort Guests with the World Update. If the location changes for the Extra Magic Hour and a resort Guest is not aware of this, the resort Guest will be provided with the revised schedule.

Right now this test of evening hours is scheduled for May 9th to May 22nd. But that can always change. Please check your resort when you arrive."

I'm glad i'm not the only one with this info!
MGM has no Night MAGIC HOUR?

WELL, that is the info that the particular CM I talked to had...
This is why I don't bother to share info...

Hi everyone,

I just received a postcard from Disney in the mail about the extra magic hour. One side is blue and says,

"Just because the Parks are closed, doesn't mean you have to leave."

and at the bottom of the same side it states,

"Presenting a change in the Extra Magic Hour benefit."

The other side is long and states,

"A Special Benefit During Your Stay. No, we're not talking about stowing away in a trash can until everyone's gone. We're talking about the Extra Magic Hour benefit - a privelege exclusive to Guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels May 9 through May 22, 2004. On select nights, one of the four Theme Parks will be open at least an extra hour for Guests to enjoy some favorite attractions. No catch, only extra magic. Just use your Key to the World card to pick up a wristband and you're in! And don't forget about the Extra Magic Hour benefit in the a.m. On designated mornings, one of the four Theme Parks will be open one hour early so Resort Guest can pop in to enjoy select attractions. Visit www.disneyworld.com/extramagic or see the World Update when you check in for all the details. Valid Theme Park ticket and Resort I.D. required. Wristbands may be picked up at select locations in each Park no sooner than two hours before Park closing, or at the turnstile after the Park has closed, before the Extra Magic Hour benefit begins. Wristbands not needed for the Extra Magic Hour benefit in the morning. Walt Disney World."

By the way, the website location indicated above isn't available yet.

patster, thanks for the post. We have all been waiting to se this. Interesting that they state at least one hour instead of the up to three hours we have been hearing. I also noticed that they extended the MK hours the week of the 9th by 1/2 hour per day.

Question:
Do you think that any resort guest could obtain a wristband after the park officially closes to everyone else and we could still get in?

I was thinking if this is taking place in June we wouldn't be able to take advantage of many of the nights due to reservations already made, but I think that if we went to Cirque and then went to say MK afterwards we would still be able to get in since we were staying in a resort?

I hope that made sense.

My only concern is the process of getting wristbands. I remember waiting in line for E-night wrist bands. Frankly, I'm wondering if they'll be checking for wristbands of people around the park, or just when they go on rides. We'll be staying on property, but if we stay in the park for after-hours, it will probably be only for the ambiance and not to go on any rides. I kind of hope we don't have to go through the possible hassle of getting wristbands. If so, I do hope it's relatively quick-not like some of those E-night lines!

Hi everyone,

You're welcome.

Simba's Mom,

I'm worried about the wristband lines also. Maybe they'll offer fastpass for the wristband lines.;)
Seriously though, hopefully they set up quite a few wristband locations.

EEyorelover,

I suspect that it'll work like e-nights did. If you arrive before the extra hour(s) has ended , you'll probably be allowed in. Understand that it'll probably use up a day on the ticket if it hasn't been used for a park entry earlier that day.

Thanks. We have never done an E-ride night so I didn't know how that worked. We will have UPH so we should be okay if this extends into June although I'm not sure with our early morning ps if we will burn the candle at both ends.

For E-ride Nights, there are always several locations from which you can pick up your wristbands. We never had to wait in any long lines for them. I have been to E-Nights 4 or 5 times. We love them and I think the wrist bands will definetly work! They check for them when you try to ride a ride. DH & I did the late nights when we were there over Easter Week, worked really well for us because crowds thinned out then. I hope they are doing that next time I go. (I also hope it's going to be sooner than my signature says.)

When I attended an E-nite a couple years ago, if you didn't have a wristband, the CM's wouldn't let you past certain areas - even to walk around. I remember them standing in Liberty Square, and they were turning back people towards the castle who wanted to go into Frontierland or towards Fantasyland if you didn't have a wristband. It was great to flash the wristband and head for the HM with no crownds!

Thanks patster734!

Just out of curiosity, when is your trip? Is it early in the test period? Mine is at the end of the test period, so I'm just wondering how they are going about sending out postcards.

Thanks for providing that link! Hopefully it will be up and running soon!!

:teeth:

We'll be there May 8-19, but not on Disney property until the 15th. I hope we get our post card this week.

We just received a card with Goofy on it with some "tips" that really weren't all that helpful. It was exciting to get Disney mail, though.

I'm going to keep checking the website, too. Somewhere I read about a press release for this on May 4th or 5th, so I wonder if the website won't be available until then.

I am so glad that I am on the Dis so I got a heads up on this information early!

Beth

How on earth did you get your postcard today when there is not mail on Sundays? I want mine....he he he.
