Evening Extra Magic Hour! (VERY LONG POST)

It might just be that SOG and most of the DTD hotels didn't want to participate in this test phase. I'm betting that if this program does come to pass and is offered all the time, SOG and all DTD hotels will do it. They wouldn't want to lose the business over this perk.

This sounds great! I'll be there in May. The only thing I'm bummed about is that I'll be leaving around dinnertime on Wednesday to come back, so I'll miss the EMH at MK. :(

I love the evening extra hours. We both work second shift so we are night owls.

I agree that this is a neat idea to combine EMH morning hours & evening hours. This way you can enjoy early entry some mornings, and sleep in a little on the others. My hubby & I have always stayed on-site at Disney & were really looking forward to staying at the SOG this year since he is now a member of the Army National Guard. I am very unhappy that as of right now SOG isn't being offered the EMH in the evenings. Why are they offered the EMH in the A.M., but not the P.M. Seems really bizarre to me.

In the past SOG was treated the same as any other on-site Disney resort. It seems this may be changing into the future. I think the U.S. armed forces and their families should get the same benefits as other on-site guests when staying at the SOG - this is the least Disney could do for our hard-working armed forces. JMHO.

:)

I think that would be up to SOG as to whether they want you to have the same bennies as WDW resort guests. I can't see how it falls to WDW to give you this benefit. I thought that each hotel, DtD ones included, made up their own mind whether to participate. You could always stay in an actual WDW resort and enjoy all the benefits WDW offers to their guests.

This is the info I received by e-mail from my DU travel agent today, it says that EMH will still remain as previously scheduled!!. My Mother's Day morning walk down main street might happen after all! Take a look:

"E-Night Trial Period Planned for 2004
There's a special treat in store for guests staying at a onsite Disney resort from 5/9/04 to 5/22/04.

Plans are in the works for scheduling eight Extra Magic Hour Evenings. Guests staying at a Disney resort will be able to enjoy select attractions at the designated theme park for up to three hours after the park closes to the general public.

Wristbands will be given to guests producing a valid Key To The World Card. They will be distributed beginning three hours prior to the start of the the event.

Regular park admission will be required. Guests using single day passes cannot "hop" to the selected theme park offering the evening hours, but must have used their pass for that park on the day of the offer.

The Extra Magic Hour morning schedule will remain in place. The attractions open in the evening can vary from those running during the morning.

The schedule for the Extra Magic Hour Evenings is:

Sunday - Epcot
Tuesday - Disney-MGM Studios
Wednesday - Magic Kingdom
Thursday - Animal Kingdom

Fastpass will be available. "

Question
On Tuesday May 18th MK is open til 9:30 with Spectro at 8:30 since this is an extra MH for MGM do you think this is the day we should stay late at MK, since me are not onsite guest? Do you think most people will be at MGM? Or do you think because they are having Spectro they will still have a large crowd?

I hope we keep the morning hours! I've been looking forward to Miles' birthday as an EE Sunday at MK.

How and where will Disney "officially" announce these extra evening hours? On their web site?

According to the tentative schedule, Sunday will be evening EMH at Epcot, no morning EMH at MK.

They're supposed to send out postcards to all resort guests before May informing these changes. I would stick to your original plan for now, but you can always make double PSs and just cancel later when you know the official scheldule.

I'm sorry, what a mess. Why don't they just officially release it already/ Seems ti would save them a lot of agony with all the calls and emails they are probably getting, in addition to people booking double PSs.
Come on already...

I would guess they have not officially released the info, because they were still tweak it. Some CM's leaked the inner office memo and that is how it goes.

I like to find out about what is going on as much as anyone, but can you imagine being in management at Disney and every time you try to do something it's all over the Internet before you can even share it with most of your employees. It would drive me crazy.

Has anyone heard when the information will be released or when the post cards will be sent out?

We are leaving here on May 8th, but we don't check into a WDW hotel until May 15th. I'm worried that the post card will arrive after we've left.

I'm trying not to get too obsessive about this, but I do have several plans worked out. I just keep reminding myself that we are going to have a wonderful trip regardless!

What company is DU? I'm not familiar with that abbreviation.

Thanks!

Overall I'm glad that there are going to be evening offerings for EMH while we're there. I only wish they had let me know earlier so I could have planned my Priority Seatings differently.

WOW - this just goes to show you can't please everyone, and on this thread it almost seems you can't please anyone.

We arrive 5/9 for four nights before our cruise and am pretty excited about the extra night hours...although we may not use them. I have PS for dinner for four evenings but am not changing anything due to this.

If this is the worst thing that happens on your vacation - be thankful.....

don't sweat the small stuff, we are getting more time at Disney - and everyone is getting so worked up that this is already implemented for the rest of the year....RELAX maybe it will maybe it won't.....

I would think you should have it before May 8th, being that the first day this is being offered is May 9th. I would guess a postcard might come around the end of April or beginning of May, but that's just my guess! :teeth:

Sorry guys,
But without having to read every post on all 11 pages........
Just wondering if this is in fact official.....
Extra Magic Hours in the evening?
How will they handle it?
Will they clear the park?
It is easy to monitor in the AM, but in the PM!!???

Would they handle it like E-ticket nights?
Maybe have to get a ticket?

Thanks!

again sorry if all the info has already been posted.....but this is the first I have heard of this.....been really a busy week for me and I've been away from the boards since the weekend.:earseek:
