We are going in May with our two girls, ages 5 and 2 (the latter who will turn 3 on the trip). Should we even consider evening EMH's with such young kids, or will that be a complete waste of time? We are planning to return to the resort everyday for a nap, so that would help, but still not sure if kids that young would be able to enjoy evening EMH to the fullest. And even if they have a good time that night, are they completely wiped out and out of commission the next day? Or are they more resilient than we parents give them credit for? :teeth:

So, just wondering if any of you have done evening EMH with young children, and how that worked out for your family ...

Thanks!

I think it really depends on your kids. I know my 2 & 5 year olds would be fine at EMH after a late afternoon nap, and even the next morning probably wouldn't be a problem BUT that afternoon/evening would be where we'd run into the cranky monsters.

We don't plan on taking advantage of the EMH's but if we feel the kids are up for it we might add it on to our plans. I'd rather not plan for it and be pleasantly surprised to be able to do it.

We are also going in May with 2 five yr. olds. And, we are planning to do MK's EMH, but mostly just to walk around, watch any parades and fireworks. And, maybe some rides with short lines that we would not normally do. We are just going to take it easy, and probably not stay till the end.
What I am curious about, is how packed it really is in the evenings?

Evening EMH refers to the extra magic hours - hours that the park remains open to resort guests after its normal closing time. :flower:

I'm wondering this too. We'll be there the week of July 4th

My kids are morning people and the early EMH at MK was wonderful. I don't think they'd do well at the late EMH, my daughter especially if she's tired or hungry she's evil. We didn't do any late EMH on our trip. I think it does depend on your kids.

My kids would do great at evening EMH (provided they had a late afternoon nap which is typical for them when we are at DL). Morning EMH will definitely be hard on them and I'm not sure we'll do it. Just depends on the kids. But I like the don't plan on it and see how they do mentality. Thats how we are and any extra time you get at the parks is a nice bonus. :)

Depends on the kids. All children are different. If the kids have a late night possibly they'd be ok.

We are going in a couple of weeks with a 15month old, 4, 2-6 year olds. We plan on going to the park the next morning that had the EMH the night before. I am going with the idea that most wouldn't go the night before and then get up early and go again. Hoping my plan works!

What are your kids' schedules at home like? My 3yo wakes at 6:30 am, takes an afternoon nap, and goes to bed at 8pm. So, I know that morning EMH will be fantastic for us, but evening EMH will not work for us. Unless his schedule changes before we go (in the fall). We're planning on going to the parks as soon as they open in the morning, staying until DS is too tired, then going back to the hotel for a nap and a swim, and that's our day.

Remember, evening EMH does not start until 9 or 10pm most nights in the summer. Our 11 and 8 yo would be nasty people the next day if we took them that late. I would be surprised if a 5 and 2 yo could do it. Of course, everyone's kids are different, so if you think it will work - go for it.

We did the EMH at Epcot one night and it was dead. I can't imagine it would be that way at MK, but my guess would be that the crowds would be much lighter than during the day. :cool1:

Totally depends on the kids. DS4 would have no problem with it, especially if he napped during the day--he gave up naps a long time ago and on those rare occasions he does nap, he doesn't go to bed until 11:30 or later!

I say if you want to do it, try it. If it doesn't work, then don't do it again. Or maybe the kids will sleep while the two of you enjoy some things?
