Even the Christmas commercials are depressing!

Then take 5 minutes out of your day to watch this classic. I first heard about this one on the DIS, as I don't live in Canada. I still absolutely love it and rewatch it every year.

Thanks for sharing, a great commercial and what a sweet sweet surprise for those passengers.

That is my favorite commercial so far this season!

And the one Dan posted earlier from Etsy and the grandparents watching the kids on zoom. I want a doll of my DGS. But he can't draw yet....lol

My DBF and I both like the Hershey's commercial. When we are enjoying quality time in the evenings watching TV after work we usually Fast forward through most commercials but we watch that one.

Anyone in the Pittsburgh area? I haven't seen the Eat 'N Park tree/star commercial yet. Have you?
I am and, no, I have not seen it yet although another poster—mrodgers I think, mentioned it up thread. I look forward to it too. I tend to watch most TV on the DVR though and skip commercials.

Who still watches commercials? Even if I can't skip the commercials, I'll do SOMETHING during the breaks... read, sudoku, check online, get a snack, go to the bathroom, SOMETHING so I don't have to watch them.

That is so amazing. It remains as the best holiday commercial of all time for me. With the Clydesdales in second place.

I totally agree,,I was just about in tears..but I was also almost in tears at Greys and Station 19. Too depressing :(
I cried through all 3. And (and especially)The Good Doctor. Mostly seeing what first responders went through and the guilt they carry with them.

Wow! What an amazing commercial! Thank you for posting it, as I have not seen this before. It made me cry and is among the best I have ever seen!

I posted the video the other day upthread and stated it's not Christmas season until I see it. I have to seek it out now though as I don't have cable and don't have OTA (I need to get a tuner and antenna and rectify that some day) so no, I haven't actually seen it in broadcast.

 Sometimes you just have the tv on. And if I happen to be watching a network show live, I can handle sitting still through a 2 minute set of commercials.

The only holiday commercials I have seen with any regularity are the Old Navy ones with RuPaul. Absolutely nothing depressing there...except when I think about how much better RuPaul looks in a one piece pjs than I would.

Love that the West Jet one got mentioned! They do something every year, the one where they visited one of the Caribbean islands was pretty awesome too, as well as the one where they focused on Fort McMurray which was ravaged by fires. Not sure how or what they will do for this year, it’s been a hard year for airlines.

My friend said The Good Doctor upset her. She had COVID and is not easily shaken so maybe caution there. And if you watch none of these maybe it will help someone else.

On topic, I haven’t really seen many because I rarely watch anything live but as I was skipping commercials one made me rewind: John Travolta and Samual Jackson for Capital One Shopping. Travolta’s Santa kept asking if Jackson “is off the naughty words.” Made me giggle.

Off-topic: The Good Doctor was really tough to watch the first two episodes. Last night, Freddie Highmore came on at the beginning and explained that now they were in the (hopefully near) future where COVID isn't the concern that it is now.

On topic: I haven't seen too many Christmas commercials yet because we tend to use the DVR and fast-forward commercials. I have seen that Etsy one with the grandma who can't be with her children/grandchildren. I find it equal parts depressing and heart-warming, depending upon my current mood. I imagine that it's difficult to know how to advertise right now. If you lean too hard into reality, it gets depressing. Conversely, if you advertise life as normal, it also gets depressing.

The Christmas commercial that makes me rant has nothing to do with COVID. It's the one where the husband surprises his wife by buying a truck and and SUV and she then takes the truck that he had planned on for himself.

Well I just needed a pick me up so I rewatched some commercials people have pasted in. Did the trick!

I haven't been able to find any new ones yet since this morning keep them coming please :)
