Even the Christmas commercials are depressing!

Life is what you choose to make of it I guess.
Life is a culmination of life experiences. Not everyone has the same life experiences.

That’s a choice each person makes.
Not completely. If I had a choice in it I would be living a happily ever after with a great man. But that is not what happened. To be quite frank it is not like I have been turning away suitors.

we are basically an optimistic people but Hollywood and Madsison Ave are often the last to figure it out. (Im assuming Madison Ave still the advertising center, if nt who ever is is the last to know, lol)

I read the Grey's was going to do just that but someone producer, show runner, writer, whatever, said that being a show set in a hospital they couldn't just ignore it. I'm okay with COVID being an underlining story but I don't know if I want the entire season to be entirely COVID focused.
I was starting to feel like the first part of Grey's was a covid infomercial. It got better, though.

2020 really is the worst year. I always say to myself, "It's not Christmas until I see the Hershey's Kisses bell commercial!" Well, wouldn't you know, they screwed that up this year too! I saw it on youtube the other day, and while it started out normal, they interrupted it with a new segment with a little girl grabbing one of the Kisses and putting it on a cookie. Now granted, this was on youtube so I don't know for sure if they're still showing the original on regular tv, but I hope they are. Some things are just sacred and should NOT be changed, especially during a year of such upheaval in so many other things. First Apple holds Charlie Brown hostage, now this!

They are still showing the real commercial on TV. It's my favorite. I've seen it several times in the last week or so. I'm thinking that someone has messed with the commercial on YouTube.

Life isn’t over yet, now is it.

My Christmas was absolutely awful last year, so this will be an improvement even with a pandemic!

I don’t mean to make light of it, though. I know people will struggle. I’m just ready to come out on the other side.
I spent last year 2 weeks of my Christmas break watching videos on Youtube and reading of people doing all my favorite hobbies of motorcycling, bicycling, and others because of the 70° weather, laying in bed sicker than I've ever been in my life. A few months after Christmas, I spent 8-9 months wondering if it was Covid I had.

You are down because you choose to be. And you just can’t see that.
Sure. Of course. You’re right. No one who doesn’t have the same life experiences as you as the right to feel anything but how you think they should.

OMG. Very unkind.

My point was that the poster was saying that the commercials made her sad as she is alone. I was just saying that she has 2 lovely children that she seems close with so that she is not alone. Families come in all sorts of formats - they are not always 2 parent homes - doesn't mean you are not a family. It's sad the poster doesn't feel she is complete without a spouse.
Sorry but that is how I read it. Dwell on the blessings you do have especially during this horrid year. Hopefully once things are open are the poster has healed enough they can seek happiness.

What gives you or ANYONE the right to say how someone else should feel? Happy cheerie commercials may give you warm fuzzies and that’s great FOR YOU but that doesn’t mean that everyone else has to feel the same. I have the right to feel the way I do. I have the right to wish that I’d be lucky enough to find someone to share my life with. I’ve been dealt pretty crappy hands in the love department. That’s my experience. It is FAR from a choice.

I’m sorry you are feeling so alone. Hopefully you will find happiness soon.
