Evacuated!

Had to be walked off ToT and Space Mountain. The emergency braking system is way cool on Space Mountain :cool1:

We got stuck once on Haunted Mansion. It was when the car was turned backwards going down. We were stuck about 20 minutes. I tried not to freak out, but I was imagining the car starting to slide backwards and us plowing into all the cars behind us. At least we weren't evacuated, seeing HM with the lights on would have really spoiled it for us, since its our favorite ride in MK.

I read about some kid getting traumatized on the old Pinnocio ride a DL. He was already nervous about the ride. When Stromboli lowered his cage and said that he would be trapped forever, the power went out and everything stopped and went dark. The kid totally lost it at that point.

I've had lots of small stoppages (1-10 minutes) but no evacs at Disney. I did have to evacuate the train ride as Astroworld after we hit a truck.

So what would be the best and worst rides to be stuck on or evacuate?

I think IaSW would be the worst to be stuck on. I think I'd like being stuck on the dinosaur part of Universe of Energy. I think I'd like evacuating Splash Mountain the most. I'd probably dislike evacuating SE the most.

Imagine if the elevators broke on the Living Seas and you had to climb all the way back to the surface? ;)

We had to be evacuated twice this week from rides and it's never happened to me before...Dinosaur and TTA. It was definitely weird to see Dinosaur with the lights on! We walked through the whole attraction. I might be just really bored but...

What rides have you been evacuated from?

Only Splash Mountain. My little sister definetely touched Brer Rabbit on the way out and got in trouble. It was fun though! I have see Dinosaur with the lights on too. Very weird. I still get the bejesus scared outta me even though i know what it really looks like. Oh, that Disney magic gets me every time... :cool1:

On our trip in July we had to be evacuated from The Land ride. We were right in the tunnel that leads into the area with all the plants when our boat stopped. We had to go outside and walk around the outside of the building and ended up coming back in a side door which led us back to the beginning of the ride. We got to see the shop where they repair the boats. It was kind of funny because my husband was videotaping as we were walking along and the CM told him there was no picture-taking allowed backstage. Another visitor said to us they must not want us to film the weeds that were growing up in the cracks everywhere. :) They did give us each a fastpass ticket to ride it again later on.

I got evacuated from Tower of Terror. It was kinda cool to see the background stuff and take the "real elevator" that allowed us to be put right back on the ride, since our ride was messed up they put us right back on instead of fastpasses, which I thought was perfect.

I remember one more from the DLR. While it didn't end in an evacuation, in the early days of California Adventure, I rode the Superstar Limo. (I didn't know it was so bad, it was brand new :confused3 ) Seated in the front of the car, I had my arm around my DW across the back of the seat. When we pulled into the unload area, the lap bars released and the bar from the back seat sprung forward, pinning my elbow against the back of the seat. It was only slightly painfull (the bar hit my funnybone), and 2 cast members starting pulling on the bar to get me free. They finaly just sent the car (and me) on up to the loading area where the bars release automaticly and I was free.
Not very exciting, but the thought of having to again on that ride was a little truamatic.

I have to ammend my earlier statement: Non-crappy rides at Disney always work for me :)

We didn't get evacuated, but we were stuck in the dark for a while.

I was riding the Tower of Terror with DD5, we had gone through the show part and were heading for the drops when all of a sudden it just stopped. No lights, no announcements, nothing. There were some teenage girls in our elevator and there was some screaming and some people were wondering if it was part of the ride. DD was starting to get a little frightened so she pulled her penlight flashlight out of her fannypack and turned it on. Someone said "Thank G*d!" and there were some audible sighs of relief. Being stuck in total darkness and not knowing what was going on was pretty scary.

Finally they came on with an announcement that we'd be moving soon, but nothing about what was going on. They brought us back to the entrance and those who wanted to get off were able to and those who wanted to try again were able to get right back on.

When we were getting back on, a CM told us that there was nothing wrong with ToT, that they had to remove a guest. He didn't know exactly why, but apparently there were a couple of warning announcements and then they had to stop the whole ride to remove someone who was being a jerk. :confused3

We were evacuated from Universe of Energy once...didn't happen until the end, though, so we didn't have much to see.

When the lights are on in Space Mountain, you can get a good look at the space hings they project onto the cieling. The meteors are definitely chocolate chip cookies!

Last summer we were evacuated from Splash Mountain. We were actually stopped in our boat in the sun  for about 40 minutes before the CMs came up and got us:

i've gone thru the back of Haunted Mansion a few times. it was kind of weird and cool.

plus i went "under" MK too for the tour. that was really fun.

Had to ride HM twice in a row because the bar would not lift up to let us exit--DD was only 6 and it really freaked her out!
Been stuck on Splash a few times before it started to move again about 20 minutes each of those times.
Been stuck on test track at the water spray room for about 10 minutes then it moved a bit and we were in the heat lamp room for about 10 minutes an then at the end but not fully up ot the exit for about 10 minutes. Really did not enjoy that ride!
Gotta say though I am one of the people who is absolutely terrified of Dinosaur. I ride it with the kids but have never opened my eyes. If this ride ever broke down and I needed to be evacuated I'd be so screwed--I'm not sure I could do it. I'd be the one flat on the floor of the car with my hands over my head and ears shaking like a leaf (possibly in a puddle). I can't even imagine the cost of therapy after that!

Never stuck at WDW, but at DL We've been stuck on POTC within sight of the unloading platform, IASW (in the sun), and Indiana Jones numerous times. Once in the tunnel just before the bugs (in complete darkness) and another time just before the bolder at the end. Indy was hanging over our heads saying, "Let me in, me in,in,in,in,in,in" over and over for 10-15 minutes. I had a feeling it was coming as the ride had been going in fits and starts all the way through.

Not at wdw, but my dd7 and I got stuck on a ride at Cedar Point in Ohio this summer. Its called the demon drop. 4 people sit side by side with over the shoulder harnesses. You ride up like an elevator and then free fall, and end up on your back with your feet sticking up in the air, then slide back down through something that opens up and you are returned to an upright position. So here's us for 10 minutes at 90+degrees in no shade... :rotfl2: DD was fine but the 20 yo next to me became convinced that the next car was going to slip and come down and we all would die. Luckily she was very quiet as she told he bf her fears, and dd was on the other side! It was pretty funny, but hot.

The "cm" says, "the ride's over 25 years old. It gets tempramental in the heat."

Hey! I rode that ride the year it was new! Wadddayatryintasay? Get me my cane. :hippie:

QUOTE=Fairy_Tale_Bride]We got stuck and had to be escorted out of Expedition Everest, right at the park where they show the Yeti shadow! It was our first time on the ride too...creepy!! We had to walk down 17 flights of stairs, but we did get 2 free fast passes!
[/QUOTE]

Was this just in June? We were loaded on the front car and ready to go when the other train got stuck. They told us just to stay in the train for about 5 minutes, then they decided it was going to take a while so they made us get off. It was right at park closing that day.

We were never evacuated from a ride but we did have a cancelled show of the Lion King once. It all started okay, then about 2 or 3 minutes into the show all the music just stopped and they made an announcement that the show was cancelled.

We've been walked out of the Tomorrow Land Transit authority, I've been "stuck" on many rides but thankfully they've always restarted with the above exception. I'm always the one who waits in a forever long time just to get up right before you board and then the ride shuts down...lol. I've also been lucky enough to have a full behind the scenes tour of Spaceship Earth, I'll never look at the ride the same way again, and OMG there were sooooo many stairs. =o)

Trapped inside Everest!! We had to walk down 17 flights of stairs!! Boy...was it hot!! Here we are in the mountain and escaping from the Yeti!! :scared1:
