Evacuated!

Never evacuated but stuck on Smalll World for 20 minutes. to this day if my DS 17 wants to irritate me all he has to do is start singing "it's a world of laughter a world of tears"

There was door one part in ride, we stopped for few minutes, that said "Exit D" and as joke I kept saying "LET ME OUT, LET ME AT EXIT D!!" because ride is scariest ride in world maybe. We turn corner and boat in front of us empty ... everyone bursts into laughter "they used exit D!!"

Last October we were evacuated from Buzz Lightyear after being stopped for 10 - 15 min. . DS14 would have killed me if we had been stuck in It's a Small World. He would have been looking for Exit D also! :rotfl:

We were "stuck" on Splash Mountain for about 15 minutes same trip but not evacuated.

Got stuck on Splash Mountain about 15 minutes one time. And this summer got stuck on Buzz Lightyear. The dark room that looks like you are spinning. Light came on and side rails came up. We were told to remain seated and started moving again in about 10-15 minutes. If only we had got stuck where we could shot at something.

We were evacuated on the old Horizons ride in Epcot. If you remember, 4 people sat in the cars all side by side facing forward. We were stopped right in front of the huge projection screen, and there we sat for about 20 minutes. Eventually, we heard a knock on the back of our seats, the middle seat opened up and a CM popped her head through. She told us to come with her and we followed her down into the fabled underground tunnels of Epcot. We all walked a bit and ended up coming out on the side of the building. All in all, it was pretty cool.

Boy are you gonna kick yourself.

That was where we got stuck too - but there is a little hatch on the ceiling near the bottom left hand side of the tunnel. I shot that the whole time, my point score was about 500,000 by the time we got moving again, my DP wondered what the hell had gone on!! :rotfl:

When I was a CM, someone attempted to exit their car on Space Ranger Spin. There are sensors all around so if that happens, the lights go on, handle bars go up, ride stops....the works. It looks like prison lock down! When guests tried to pull that I worried about their safety of course but also I was scared for what the other guests must be thinking when those bars come up!

I wondered how they knew the child was out and were able to stop it so fast.
I figured they were watching cameras or something like that.

I graduated from there last year. My friend called me and said all too casually "yeah, there is an escaped murderer on campus and classes are cancelled"

HUHHH??

I'm glad they caught him! (and glad I already graduated :rolleyes1 )
My 1st thought was that this would be that you had to evacuate from VT on Monday!

Yeah I think there were about 40-50 sensors that we needed to check every morning. If even one wasn't working, we weren't allowed to open the ride.

I would use Exit D too!

spaceship earth. the part towards the end where we tilt back. we needed help from the CM'S getting the kids and myself out b.c there was a huge space between the car and stairs beside it. DS6 talked about our evacuation of SE the rest of trip :)

We must have been on at the same time because the same thing hapened to DS (he was also 6 at the time) and myself. oooo Creepy.

BTW I am from Plantation!

I didn't know this happened so often. What would they do if the person on the ride couldn't walk? My sister has been transfered from her wheelchair to a ride seat but she could never walk out of the ride. Would they just have to wait a little longer? On IASW the whole chair can ride. Just not something we have worried about for her. Disney is 1 of the few places she can still go as it is accessible. I should add she isn't riding the coasters but could get on Buzz if they stopped the track for a minute.

Just last week, right as we boarded the POC boat, the ride broke down. Unfortunately, we were stuck sitting there for an hour because the gates you enter the boat through wouldn't open. Maintenance came and finally got our boat to move up so we could exit. They had 20 boats full of people they had to evacuate off of the actual ride. We did get three fast passes to use anytime though!

Actually, in the Guide Books for Guests with Disabilities, they specifically say that on many rides where the guests transfer from their wheelchair to the ride vehicle, that in the case of an emergency they may be required to navigate steep stairs and narrow passages and the like (example: Splash Mountain).

Edit: however, I'd still drop by the DISabilities board and see if anyone has specific experience with it, as I can't imagine they'd say "tough luck" and leave someone.

We had to walk off TTA back in February. I found it hilarious because it was my sister & nephew's very first ride on their very first trip, and it broke!

We got evacuated off of POtC last October, snapped a few pictures too. It wasn't too bad, the CM's got into the water (wearing thigh-high rubber waders) and pushed the boats over toward a door. The worst part was seeing the CM area behind the attractions!

It says on many rides that you will need to navigate steep stairs and narrow passages. The other alternative is to wait to be evacuated. You can't see it when you are ridng, but each ride car is marked with a number. The CMs note that number when someone who would not be able to get off by themself boards. That way, if the attraction needs to be evacuated, they know where the people who will need assistance are. There are also limits on the number of people needing assistance who are allowed on each attraction at the same time. That's one of the reasons that people with disabilities are sometimes waiting in the exit area.
We have been coming to WDW at least once a year since 1987 and have never had to be evacuated from anything. I've seen a few posts over the years from people with disabilities who reported they were evacuated by the fire department. It doesn't happen often, but they are prepared.

Thank you! I knew they had to so something, but as I didn't know I didn't even want to try to speculate as to what. :goodvibes

Not in WDW, but in DL and DCA- been evacuated from Winnie the Pooh (there was a "sticky situation"- "Hunny on the tracks" my dd loved that!), Matterhorn (a few times in my life) and Monster's Inc in DCA it is strange to see everything with the lights on and being guided out of an attraction
