Evacuated!

I got stuck on IASW for about half an hour- and no I have not brought myself to ride again- and I can still make my kids scream by playing that song lol

Never evacuated at Disney- but did have to evacuate off an old rollercoaster at the now closed Astroworld in Houston. I was 5 months pregnant (no flames I got my doctors approval to ride the rides before I went lol) and we were on the climb that starts the ride and it stops. After sitting on the hill for about 30 minutes they decided to evacuate us and we had to get out of the ride cars and go down a small catwalk and open steps- really scary but I do remember the event all the time- and my now 8yo tells people she once got stuck on a roller coaster too

I was evacuated from the Haunted Mansion and Kong.

I've been stuck in Splash Mountain, BTMR, Barnstormer, EE, Dinosaur, Spaceship Earth, PotC, Small World, Peter Pan, Snow White

I was evacuated from Splash Mtn, probably about 10-12 years ago. We got stuck on the first small hill going up- the one that takes you around the front of the mountain, right before you go inside. In fact, I was right next to that geyser that randomly shoots off and gets people wet...yeah, I got wet a "few" times :sad2:

After about 45 minutes of sitting there with my dad (and my mom apparently getting somewhat concerned waiting outside), we had to exit the logs and climb through the mountain. There were LOTS of little TINY stairs that we made our way down from, and somehow after this stair maze we made it out of the mountain. It was pretty cool seeing everything from the inside- too bad I don't remember much now.

We had to be evacuated twice this week from rides and it's never happened to me before...Dinosaur and TTA. It was definitely weird to see Dinosaur with the lights on! We walked through the whole attraction. I might be just really bored but...

What rides have you been evacuated from?

OMG!!! being evacuated on Dinosaur is one of my biggest fears! LOL How creepy was it????

I got stuck on Test Track for a good 15 minutes once, we were on the hilly part with all the sharp turns.

That happened to us too, but we got stuck right when the semi-truck goes to hit you. That horn just kept going for 15 minutes. :headache: They never took us off the ride, but they had to push the car in front of us.

I was evacuated from the hot seat on WWTBAM after missing the 64,000 point question. :teeth:

I'd LOVE to get evacuated from Dinosaur. I'd be trying to be like Johnny Depp trying to check out the Jack Sparrow in that Podcast that was up. :lmao:

We were evacuated from the R&RRC earlier this month - I've been stopped/delayed several times over the years, but never evacuated before! They shot us all out like always, but after we went thru the tunnel, the ride stopped right before we went up the first loop! It was weird inside with the lights on and no music - neat but wieird! I tried to get a couple pics, but they didn't come out. They pack a LOT of roller coaster into a fairly small building - and that first loop goes RIGHT up the wall!

Last year we decided to ride Spaceship Earth as our last ride as we were leaving Epcot to head for the airport (it's one of my daughter's favorite rides, go figure). We were almost at the very top when the ride stopped. They started playing this message for everyone to remain seated, the ride would begin again shortly, it never did. 45 minutes we waited with no information about what was going on. I started hyperventilating, watching my carefully planned trip home starting to slip away, imagining that we were going to miss our flight. :furious:

Finally the lights came on and CM's came around saying we were going to have to evacuate. They started at the BOTTOM of the ride. They had to come around to each car and use a tool to open the door, then we stepped out onto a walkway that runs alongside the track. Since we were almost at the top, we were among the last people out. By now I'm crying because I'm so upset that we're going to miss our flight, just the end of a long week, 'ya know?

So we start walking down, and of course, never one to miss a photo opportunity, even in distress, I whip out my camera and make my daughter pose with various statues as we're going down. I have a great shot of her in Rome next to the "thinking" boy/man. Finally we took a turn to an inside stairwell and then went down the stairs the rest of the way.

When we got to the bottom, we FINALLY found out what happened - someone slipped while getting onto a car and fell onto the track. I think they broke an arm or leg, so the ride was shut down for a while as they tended to that. I think it would have been less stressful for everyone if they would have come on the loudspeaker and at least let us know what was going on, the not knowing is part of the stress.

FYI, we literally ran out of the park (I've never seen my daughter move so quickly, I had to catch up to her since I was pushing my son in the stroller), raced back to the airport, ditched the rental car, piled kids, car seats, strollers, luggage, etc. into the airport, and found out our flight was delayed 1 hour.

Sometimes God has to find a way to remind us that we're not in charge... :goodvibes

WOW! Can someone fill me in on how they evacuate you from water rides like Splash and POTC?

I got stuck on the Jurassic Park river adventure one time, they didn't get us off the ride, but the techs were walking around, this was where it goes towards the building then up, if they had to evacuate you in the middle of the first part with the lagoon, I have no idea how that would work, probably wouldn't, they would probably either move the ride up to where you could get off, or I guess some of the water rides may have rescue boats to come and grab people.

Spaceship Earth Broke Down When We Were At The Very Top.we Sat There About 20 Min. Until A Cast Member Came And Got Us.it Is Very Strange To See It With The Lights On.the Walk Out Took About 10 Min.

My 6 YO nephew and I were evacuated from Big Thunder Mountain last December. The ride stopped as we were making the final ascent. Let me tell you, I was SO happy when the ride stopped. Even though I had explained the ride in detail, and he had watched it before boarding, it turned out that Liam didn't like the ride, and he had started to cry right before the ride broke. I felt AWFUL! He is a big Star Wars fan, and told me that he "used the Force" to stop the ride, heh heh.

It was interesting to walk below the mountain and see all of the undersides. Liam was particuarly impressed, especially when we had to duck down under a low doorway that he was sure his Uncle John would have bonked his head on if he had been with us. As compensation, they gave us two fast passes that were good for any ride in the Magic Kingdom. We went over to Buzz Lightyear, his favorite. I let him beat me, of course, and all was well again.

DBF and I were evacuated from Maelstrom this past March. The ride had just started and we were half way up the hill when it lurched to a halt. They first ask you to remain seated, but after they sent everyone in line outside, turned on the lights, and turned off the water, we knew that there was a bigger problem. It was neat to sit there and watch the engineers in action - they definitely earn their keep! The cast members were to nice and thoughtful helping everyone out of the boat and guiding them out, they were apologizing profusely for something that was totally out of their control.

Splash Mountain--not just once but twice on the same vacation. :teeth: It was a little disconcerting to see how unmagical it looks when you go outside into the CM area.

We got fast passes for any ride both times. I was SO tired of the music by the end of the second time!

Oy...so..I was just standing there waiting for the rest of my car to be evacuated so we could start the journey to the emergency exit..I turn around and BAM! There's that dinosaur eating another dinosaur...moving back and forth..his big teeth gleaming..

I jumped out of my skin :rotfl:

But other than that, it was fine :)

We were never evacuated but we were stopped and the lights were turned on in Journey Into Imagination because someone had gotten out of the ride and was walking around inside!

The scariest one, though, was at the old Mr. Toad where a very young child (3 or 4) had gotten out of a car! The ride came to a screeching halt, the lights came on, and a visibly shaken CM came into the room and escorted the parents and the child out. The parents apparently did not speak English and seemed rather oblivious to the danger of what had happened or why there was such a
big deal made about it. It scared the fire out of me! It was several minutes
before the ride resumed. We were later told by a CM that when they have to
do an emergency stop like that, it sometimes takes a few minutes to reset the
ride.

I hate when things like that happen! :guilty:

Ah, and I see you're a VA TECH student... or went to VA TECH. That's so crazy what happened the other day!

I graduated from there last year. My friend called me and said all too casually "yeah, there is an escaped murderer on campus and classes are cancelled"

HUHHH??

I'm glad they caught him! (and glad I already graduated :rolleyes1 )

When I was a CM, someone attempted to exit their car on Space Ranger Spin. There are sensors all around so if that happens, the lights go on, handle bars go up, ride stops....the works. It looks like prison lock down! When guests tried to pull that I worried about their safety of course but also I was scared for what the other guests must be thinking when those bars come up!

We once got evacuated from Buzz Lightyear (because someone had dropped her purse, and all the little sensors went off), so we decided to go on the Barnstormer. The first time around, the Barnstormer got stuck, but they finally got it moving. Then second time, they had to evactuate us from the top because they couldn't get it to move again. They gave everyone who'd been on the latter ride a by-pass line pass thing, which was really sweet of them. We used to it by-pass the Indy Speedway since that line is always huge (even on a cold January day:P). Luckily for us, that ride didn't stop or anything :cool1:
