Can points be put back into their original use year?

I was wondering if member services will agree to put points back which I borrowed from my next use year but I no longer need. When I was booking resorts at 7 months out they didn't have the resort choices I wanted so I had to borrow to secure second choice. My first choice then came up, but now I have 9 points that need to be used up by August 2026. I only visit WDW every 2 years so I'm not planning on returning until 2028. I can't use 9 points and I will be short points for the next trip. to top things off, member services transferred more points than I needed from another contract (clearly couldn't add), but said that it wouldn't matter. Has anybody done this and is it easy getting points reallocated?

All you can do is to ask nicely. They have been known to make a “one-time exception” to their rules.

It is unlikely, that’s why there’s all of that language warning you that borrowing is a final transaction.
What they may be able to do is reallocate the points used on your current reservation to use those 9 borrowed points which would free up 9 current use year points that you could then bank into your next use year - not sure if that’ll be far enough out to cover a 2028 trip though.
Did you use the transferred in points for the vacation & do they have a different use year?

If have current UY points in that reservation, the trip is outside the holding period 31+ days, and if still within your UY banking window…Use Modify Feature.

UY is Sept - I used points from 25 (which included banked points) but I needed to borrow 9 points (because I could only get the dates I needed with a 1BR on the first night). When the studio came up I released the 1BR and booked the studio, but that's left me with 9 points I can only use up to August 26. I could bank the points and use by August 27. My preference would be to use them in August 28 with the rest.
I have 2 small contracts at the AKV both with Sept UYs so MS told me it wasn't a problem transferring points.

If both your contracts are in the same UY, they should be under the same membership number which means you don't need to transfer points. Unless you have 2 different membership numbers for some reason.

To answer your question, banking/borrowing are considered one way transactions. However, if you explain to MS they may make a one time exception, but they're not obligated to.
