i have done my esta and the date for passport expiry is wrong it wont let me change it everything else is correct will it matter

If I understand it correctly, any info with the red astrisk like passport details, names, dob, etc cannot be changed. If you have time to do so you can contact them and ask but I would think it will matter and the only way to amend that is to apply for a new one.

That's right, any passport info cannot be changed. When applying was free I would have said just do a new one but now there is a charge you should contact them and see if it can be amended otherwise I can see you having problems when you go through Immigration.
