I'm another one who must find an alternate plan because of Japan's restaurant being closed. How do you think our chances would be of getting in at the ESPN club on a Saturday around 3:30 or 4:00? (I think I read you can't make ADR's here, correct?).

You are correct. There are no ADRs here.
As for crowds, it really depends on what sporting events are happening. I have been able to walk in on a Saturday, but also have seen lines out the door. If you are going in the fall, there will likely be college football games going on which could add to the crowds.

Thanks, it would be Aug 25th. Any big sporting events I should know about that day, lol? (As you can tell, I'm not a big sports fan, but DH is).

Also, there would be 8 of us. Do you think that would be a big problem? With the size of our group, it's the only place I can think of to go where we might have a chance of getting in.

Thanks!

Depending on which side of the restaurant you are sitting on, you may have to sit at separate tables. I think you are safe as far as sports events, there are only two MLB afternoon games, all NFL preseason games are evening starts and college football doesn't start until the following weekend. They sometimes have different events going on in the restaurant, but I think they are usually during the week.

Hi, I agree, we have eaten here many many times to watch the Hawkeyes in the winter. The crowds definately ebb and flow with the sporting events. 8 is no problem, I have seen them move tables many times.

Food is really good for the price...had a friend tell me it was "best rueben" he ever had.

Wings are great and are full wings in a nice not spicy almost dry sauce.

Salads are huge.

The Hot Dog is enough for two!

I like the Mahi sandwich

Nachos are almost gross they are so big and covered with cheese and ground beef!

I think you will have fun...if there is a long line, just put one person in line with a cell phone and let the rest of the folks wander around the Boardwalk...when you are second in line, get them back!

At that time of the afternoon Big River Brewing would be an option...not sure they could do 8 together, but close together.

Enjoy...Ted
