ESPN - Do I need a PS?

Do I need a PS for ESPN?? Is it an enjoyable walk from EPCOT? My sports crazy dd and dh want to check it out and it is on our dining plan. Any good food suggestions?

I'm not sure what the general rule is with PS's at ESPN, but we went to eat there on our last trip (Aug. 03) and we were told it would be at least a 90 minute wait. We went on to another boardwalk restaurant and had no problem getting a table with about a 15 min. wait time. So I definately would suggest a PS.
Of course this was before I was a fanatic about PS's and we actually had a Garden Grill PS for that evening and cancelled to meet up with friends on the boardwalk.

I have been told you don't need a reservation. I think someone on the board said they don't take any. We are going end of June and when I made all of my PS's I did not make one for ESPN. My DH and DS's are sports freaks and all my DH watches in the evening is ESPN. If anything they will have a great time. I have been told the food is good so we shall find out.

In re to the walk, I did find out that from Epcot you can take a bus to Boardwalk or catch a "friendship" boat to Boardwalk. They say you can also depart thru the International gateway and follow the signs to Boardwalk. The walk is about .5 miles.

Hope this helps a bit. I am using this info as my guide as well.

We tried to get a PS through our Dreams Unlimited agent, we have 6 people in our party and they said no PS unless you have 8 or more. We are hoping by going late afternoon that the wait won't be too bad, otherwise we will just try a different resturant, plenty around....LOL

We stayed at BC last August so ESPN was right across the way. I don't think that they take PS's. We went around 5:40pm and did not have a problem;however when we were leaving there was quite a line.
Regarding the walk from Epcot, very enjoyable. Just exit Epcot through the International Gateway and get a handstamp to get back in. I wouldn't take a bus. I would think it would be a hassle.
P.S.- I loved the Dinger Sandwich. Trying to find a day to head there during this trip, only we're staying at OKW so it is not as convenient.
The kids loved playing the video games right at the table!!

The walk from the International Gateway is short and pleasant. It only takes about 5 minutes and you walk along the water, get to see the Boardwalk. We've gone there many times for lunch while at Epcot for the day. It's convenient, fun, and has good food.

FYI - there are no buses from the BW to Epcot or Epcot to the BW. It really is a short walk, or you can catch the friendship boats. For either option exit through the International Gateway, not the main entrance/exit at the front.

ESPN is at most a ten minute walk from the International Gateway of Epcot. If you take the Friendship boat you will go past ESPN and exit at the Boardwalk. From there you would have to walk towards Epcot to get to the restaurant.
MUCH easier to walk. Just turn left and go over the first bridge and you will see ESPN on the other side of the water.
I agree that they do not take priority seatings.

ESPN does not accept PS, its a First Come, First Served set up.
I would try to arrive between 5:30 and 6pm before the line starts to get too long. Usually, if there is a Sports Personality scheduled they will be "on" at 7pm, check the marquee in front.
I always recommend the Buffalo Wings as an appetizer, they are really good.
