Escape to Neverland - A new Tagliarchy adventure!!

Brindle is out of surgery and doing well. No organ damage. The inside stitches (body wall) were completely torn/undone. Her sebaceous level ones were in and healing nicely - except for what herniated. The outside ones were holding/healing nicely too.

So now she had a new huge incision - and we are back to square one in terms of healing. She is staying overnight since the damage was more complete than they expected prior to surgery. We will have to crate her totally for at least two weeks. We may sedate her too. She will not be allowed out the crate unless we are right beside her loving on her. I have lived with Brindle for nearly 9 years and have never seen her in the crate. This should be interesting.

I am totally surprised that we did not have to put her down today. I was up most of the night worrying about it. For lack of better words - Brindle kind of just exploded. I am not in the medical field - so I do not expect to see the kind of stuff we had to clean up last night.

One positive in the whole thing was how helpful Lily was. She has always said she wants to be a vet or a rock star. I needed help keeping Brindle from moving and needed the phone, paper towels, and towels. She ran to get everything I needed - and she walked around the part of the house I had not been in letting me know the messes she was seeing. She also had no problem looking at the wound (She told me she thought the stitches just popped out and they needed to put her insides back in and she would be okay). When I finally had to call the vet - Lily petted and comforted Brindle. I can't believe she was looking at the wound and the area of the carpet where the 'explosion' happened without getting grossed out. She has always been fine with stuff like this - yet will gag at the smell of some foods.

I hate to get my hopes up - but it is really looking like Brindle may recover.

Sher, glad to hear things are looking up for Brindel. It will be difficult to keep her caged (more for you than for her probably), but will be the best for her healing. Isn't it amazing when the kids 'step up' in an emergency? Lily should be very proud of herself.

.

:grouphug: Bluebayou and Slo--- I hope that this week coming will be better. Prayers and pd for y'all and your families.

BlueBayou--- you may only put washable toys/blankets in the crate and have a radio playing low in the background.

Joe normally leaves NPR on for Brindle. It is cute. She really doesn't play with toys. She is an old girl - who thinks she is people. She is on our bed or the sofa when we are not there. I think it is going to be hard on her - I think she will think she is being punished.

In all the the madness - I forgot to mention how much Lily loves her American Girl doll. She brings it to the dinner table - she puts it to bed with her at night. She has been setting it up to watch TV when we leave it at home. It is very cute.

Happy 7th night of Hanukkah to all who are celebrating the Festival of Lights.

Eight Candles
Sung to: "Frere Jacques"

Eight Candles, eight candles,
I can't wait, I can't wait.
Hanukkah is here,
We celebrate each year.
Hanukkah, Hanukkah.

Eight candles, eight candles,
I can't wait, I can't wait.
We count the lights,
Shining so bright.
Hanukkah, Hanukkah.

:grouphug: to SLO's dh, and her mom and to BB for Brindle. I hope everyone starts the New Year out stress free.

Today is Kevin's birthday and my MIL is taking the girls overnight:dance3:
We are going to celebrate Kevin's birthday by going out to dinner tonight, and then tomorrow Kevin and I are going to the Museum of Science and Industry. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow, because I haven't been to MofSI w/o children since way before Stephanie was born. I'm one of those people that really loves to take her time at museums, and read alot, so going w/o the kids will be a treat.

Last night Kevin and I watched the movie Stepbrothers - it was so bad!!!!!!! Do yourself a favor everyone, and don't rent it - such a waste of money, and such a waste of 2 hours of my life. On a scale of 1-10, I give it a -5, so bad!!!!:sad2:

I got a lot done here yesterday - I was so happy with myself!!! I made some order in the family room, and got the majority of gifts put away. I started cleaning the playroom, which was a terrible terrible mess!!!!! It was both the girls and my fault, because we just kept throwing stuff in there. Finally, after I was done, you could see the floor, so the girls took their new bean bag chairs in there and watched a movie last night - the first time they've done this since the September. I still have a lot of work to do in there, because there are so many baby toys that need to be gone through for the garage sale, and many other things that need to be gone through and thrown away. Since these are chores that the girls can't do, because they would throw nothing away or sell it in the garage sale, I need to do it (which is fine, because when I'm in a cleaning mood, I get a lot done!!!:thumbsup2 )

BB - I"m glad Bridle is doing better and I pray she's able to come home today. Please keep us posted on how she doiing - I will pray for her!!! Tell Lily good job with being a great helper:) Which doll did she get for Christmas? Katie got Nellie, and Stephanie got Mia.

Belle and Cheeringmom - Thanks!!!:) I hope this week is better too ::yes::

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I have to go change some sheets. The girls got flannel sheets for Christmas and I washed them yesterday, so I'm going to put them on their bed for tomorrow night - they'll love them!!!!!:goodvibes

Have a good day!!!

BB - Which doll did she get for Christmas? Katie got Nellie, and Stephanie got Mia.
Lily got Samantha. It was the only one she wanted. Of course they 'Put it in the archives' the week Lily started reading the books. I told her to pick another doll - but she had her heart set on it. Joe ended up going on Ebay. Now she thinks Santa is magic. He got it from somebody who had a whole collection (Holiday dress, hat and accessories, mittens, coat and hat).

Lily was looking online and now sees that all of Samantha and Nellie stuff is sold out. She is not pleased. Now she is saying she wants Nellie next Christmas. Hopefully, she will have moved on before then.

Are these your kids first dolls? This is Lily's and I am surprised how into her she is. She has never been a doll kid. She does have serious attachment to stuffed animals.

BB - how is brindle today?? I am sorry that you had tom go through all of this and i hope she is okay.. and understands about the crate. I am guessing that it will be harder for you than her..

morning..

yesterday was band practice today they are coming over at 1 and practicing a bit and then relaxing for the concert tonight.. they are one of four band and they are very excited.. they are looking into another local concert Jan 28th?? .. i'll post pictures tomorrow night ..

Hey everyone, just checking in quickly as it is so hectic here and we haven't stopped since we got down to my Mum's. We have some more guests over now so I haven't really got time to catch up but I have some free time tomorrow so will be back on here then to see what I have missed.

Anyway I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas :goodvibes. We had a lovely time, and our sad it is all over now, but we have made lots of plans for next year so I have that to look forward too.

Speak to you soon :goodvibes

Hi guys,

BB How is Brindle doing today? I hope she is getting better.

Slo I hope you have a nice day tomorrow. I love museums too, I hope you do make it over to London one day. The museums here are all free and are really good, especially the science one.

Geffric I hope the band have a great gig.

Ariel I hope you had a great Christmas too, we had a fun one. We haven't thought about next year yet!!

Well I have spent today doing a little WDW research, we plan on going to WDW for our next American adventure. We are hoping to go for Christmas/New year 2010/11 with our friends. If we don't manage that then we will go ourselves anyway but probably the following summer as August trips are easier for us.

Happy 8th, and final, night of Hanukkah to all who are celebrating the Festival of Lights.

I Have a Little Dreidel
I have a little dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play!

Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play!

It has a lovely body
With legs so short and thin
And when my dreidel's tired
It drops and then I win!

Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play!

My dreidel's always playful
It loves to dance and spin
A happy game of dreidel
Come play now, let's begin!

Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play!

Hello all!!

This is the artist formally known as RIKKU!!!

New name....same attitude! Don't ask me why I decided to dump the old name...I just wasn't feeling it anymore.

So how are things? I wish my work would allow me to actually hang out here! Alas that simply isn't the case. I do miss you all though!

OMG! A visit from a founding father!

How's the family? How are things in Nash-vegas?

We were just reminising about the 'old' days (2003-2004 :lmao: ) a few pages back.

Hey there!

The family's all good! They are 17, 7 and 5 years old now so I'm starting to feel ancient myself!

Man I miss the days when I hung out here non-stop! Unfortunately the "powers that be" where I work really frowns with being on-line so tht little joy went out the window!

I'm going to try and be around more with the new name...and maybe get some new tags...::HINT HINT::...

Wow, a drive-by from one of the originals... so good to see you. So now you're a dork??? Ohanafamily hasn't been on in a long time, either. Darn work gets in the way for most everyone.

We spent the last night of Hanukkah at OF's parent's with the rest of the family. I always feel so uncomfortable there (or anywhere that we have to spend with his family.) But the kids had a good time. And it makes DMIL happy.

BlueBayou, how's your sweet doggie doing?

slo, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Kevin. Have fun at the museum tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, I have no idea what I'm going to do with the kids tomorrow. We make go find Ian a new jacket. He had one but left it at the grocery store the other day - I just realized it was missing today and they don't have it in their lost and found. :( It was a really cute jacket, too, with Handy Manny and lights. Oh well. I just hope we can find a replacement but I fear there won't be much if anything to choose from.

I have been creative in the kitchen this weekend---made french onion soup today with leftover bbq prime rib. The red wine in the soup enhanced the smokey flavors. Yesterday, I poked holes into MIL's mini-loaf cakes and used a 1/3 bottle of amarito.

NC Beast's Father is doing okay. Mil and him are visiting Williamsburg for the decorations and spend time with some friends.

It so doesn't feel like a Monday to me:upsidedow
I'm not used to being off work 3 days in a row - it's so weird!!!!!:upsidedow

Kevin and I had a nice night last night.
We went out for Mexican, and then came home for some leftover Christmas dessert, and we watched the movie, Righteous Kill, which was very good. I was releaved that this was a good movie after the bomb we watched the other night:laughing:

Thanks to everyone for their birthday wishes for Kevin :cake: I will have to show him your posts:)

Yesterday I got out the Wii Fit that I got for Christmas. I really enjoyed it, and was working out with it for about an hour. I was in my normal clothes though, so I wasn't working out very hard, but next week, when my workouts start again, I will work more seriously with it :thumbsup2 (I'm talking about this as I eat my Christmas cookie with my coffee:laughing: )

BB - I"m glad Lily was able to get Samantha:goodvibes Samantha was Stephanie's first doll, and she loves her!!! Now that she's retired, Stephanie has put her on the doll stand, and is not playing with her anymore (I think she's afraid to ruin her). The other dolls Stephanie has is Nikki (2007's doll of the year), Julie, and now Mia (2008's doll of the year). Nellie is Katie's first doll, and she, like Lily, and wants Samantha next year. If our girls get bored with their dolls, we can just ship each other their dolls and then Lily will have Nellie, and Kate will have Samantha  On a serious note though, if one of us sees someone on ebay selling the dolls as a pair, we should split the cost - it could save us some money:thumbsup2
**How is Bridle today?
**How is your mom doing? I can't remember, did she get that house close to you?

geffric - How was the concert last night? Did you go?

Ariel - I'm glad you had a good Christmas:santa:

Danauk - I would love to visit London someday:goodvibes I'm counting on doing this when my girls are older :thumbsup2
**That's great that you are making your next WDW plans - how fun!!!!:yay:

RRBB - That's such a bummer about the Ian's jacket :guilty: I hope you are able to find something today:wizard:

PK (Rikku) - So good to see you!!!!!!:goodvibes We miss you - please come by more often to visit!!!:grouphug:

Belle - I wish I was more creative in the kitchen, but I'm always afraid to mess somthing up:headache: I love to cook, but I must have a receipe to follow, because I just can't do a dash of this, and a dash of that - I have cooking anxiety!!!!!
**I"m glad to hear your FIL is feeling better :)

ibounce - :wave2:

Well, I need to go get ready for the museum - have a good day today!!!

NC B - glad FIL is doing well. I am not good in the kitchen for fancy stuff.. the soup sounds good.. wanna share the recipe??

Well last night was Eric band's thing.. there were 4 bands and Eric's was 3rd.. they had a great turnout but their set as okay for a while and then the bass guitarist broke his guitar, Eric broke his snare and this bass pedal.. so the last part of the set wasn't good..but it is good esperience for them and they make a CD on thursday night.. so he needs to get his stuff fixed..

SLO - glad that Kevin had a great b'day.

Hi Rikku - nice to see you. How is the family??

Be back later.. today is work and I am downtown..

Slo, RRBB, Geffric, DanaUK, NCBelle, cheeringmom and ibouncetoo - Thanks so much for your concern about Brindle. She seems to be doing fine. But she seemed to be fine prior to her horrible incident - so I am on edge.

She is doing okay in the crate. Lily gives her a bone treat whenever she goes back in her crate - so she is getting more comfortable with it.

Slo - my mom did get the house across the street and three houses down. She has not moved in yet - but is indicating she would like to make the move in late Jan. A couple from my Church are helping her clean and pack. They have spent more than 100 hours and it is still not ready. At this point it has been a year since she has seen the girls. So in a way - the move to be closer to family is, at this point, is keeping her away.
