Brindle is out of surgery and doing well. No organ damage. The inside stitches (body wall) were completely torn/undone. Her sebaceous level ones were in and healing nicely - except for what herniated. The outside ones were holding/healing nicely too.
So now she had a new huge incision - and we are back to square one in terms of healing. She is staying overnight since the damage was more complete than they expected prior to surgery. We will have to crate her totally for at least two weeks. We may sedate her too. She will not be allowed out the crate unless we are right beside her loving on her. I have lived with Brindle for nearly 9 years and have never seen her in the crate. This should be interesting.
I am totally surprised that we did not have to put her down today. I was up most of the night worrying about it. For lack of better words - Brindle kind of just exploded. I am not in the medical field - so I do not expect to see the kind of stuff we had to clean up last night.
One positive in the whole thing was how helpful Lily was. She has always said she wants to be a vet or a rock star. I needed help keeping Brindle from moving and needed the phone, paper towels, and towels. She ran to get everything I needed - and she walked around the part of the house I had not been in letting me know the messes she was seeing. She also had no problem looking at the wound (She told me she thought the stitches just popped out and they needed to put her insides back in and she would be okay). When I finally had to call the vet - Lily petted and comforted Brindle. I can't believe she was looking at the wound and the area of the carpet where the 'explosion' happened without getting grossed out. She has always been fine with stuff like this - yet will gag at the smell of some foods.
I hate to get my hopes up - but it is really looking like Brindle may recover.

) a few pages back.
It was a really cute jacket, too, with Handy Manny and lights. Oh well. I just hope we can find a replacement but I fear there won't be much if anything to choose from.
I will have to show him your posts
I hope you are able to find something today
