Escape reception

What are some ideas for a very very small escape reception ? What are the minimums to do a dessert party?

Also, I am using an outside photographer. Are we allow to take pictures anywhere besides inside the park? For example I wanted to go take pics at the Animal kingdom lodge hotel. Are we allow to do that?

If you want a private room, you can book Citricos' Chef's Domain, which only seats up to 12, by calling the restaurant directly; there's a $600 food and beverage minimum. Todd English's bluezoo at the Dolphin also has a small room available, but the food and beverage minimum is $1,200 for 15 or less. And Jiko has a private room that you can reserve half of for 20 people, but it's a $2,400 f&b minimum. Oh, and Victoria & Albert's private room is $2,100 for up to 12 people.

If you're OK with just having a regular reservation during normal dining hours, any of the restaurants on property can accommodate a small party, and some have a separate area you can eat in, if not exactly a private room.

Dessert party minimums at Epcot start at around $22/person for food and beverage, plus site fees ranging from $250-$550 and then a $12.95/person viewing fee for anyone who doesn't have park admission. And some locations require you to hire trandportation, so that's another cost.

Grand Floridian dessert parties have flat food and beverage minimums ranging from $500-$1,000, with no viewing fees, site fees or required transportation.

With an outside photographer, you can take pictures EVERYWHERE except the parks.

I am having my small reception at the St. James room (it's at the boardwalk convention center). There will be 16 of us, but I wanted to have private room.

I am using an outside photographer as well, you can take pictures anywhere except inside the actual parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot...) you can take as many as you want at any of the hotels. There are lots of great locations, you can even get pics with the Castle behind you!

We're having private dining at Sago Cay at the GF for 8 people. We're having photos at the Boardwalk, GF and POR too.

We're having an outside photographer and Disney have said we can have the disney photographer too if we want, but I don't really see the point. alsodon't know how the outside photographer would feel about that!

So dessert parties go by per person then? there is no minimum? how about wishes cruise for a reception? has anyone done that? Do they also offer tea parties?

In most contracts it states that the outsider photographer is the only one or else they can leave the job and keep your money...At least that is what it says for mine.

I was offered the same as Beep - that the Disney photographer would be at the ceremony at the same time if I would prefer that rather than substituting. I think it is a fairly recent thing, as I was only offered it about two months before the wedding. In the end we stuck with substituting for a shoot at the Magic Kingdom.

With Randy we took photos at the Boardwalk, Yacht Club, POFQ and Grand Floridian, as well as on the monorail!

Then our "reception" was at California Grill - they were wonderful, and we had a big round table with a kind of semi booth around one side so we had a little bit of privacy.

Do they go higher if your reception goes on after 4.00pm like at the restaurants?

One bride was quoted $685 for one side of St. James. Another was quoted $1,500 Sun-Thursday and $1,800 Friday and Saturday to use both sides.

However, Disney has told me several times that there are no set minimums for Escape receptions at these ballroom locations because the numbers depend on a ton of different factors - time of day, day of week, and time of year, to name a few.

So while one person may be quoted $500 f&b min for, say, the Key West Room, another might get a higher quote. Just don't be disappointed if they quote you something different than what you read here.
