Just wondering - have any of you had an Escape wedding and simply added hors d' oeuvres to the cake celebration?

We're still in the air whether we want to have an actual meal at a restaurant or even our own private one at the resort, or if we just want to add hors d'oeuvres to our cake celebration. We would like to have a 5pm wedding and then head to the DP at 7:30 or 8 (if we extend it like the plan is) but I don't really want to try and squeeze an actual meal in there because there's no way we'd have the time. And I would like to keep our events together, for example, I don't really want to have the wedding and celebration and then go do whatever for awhile and then meet up again. I think it would be nice to just have everything flow together one after the other, know what I mean?

Anyway, for those of you who have done it, what kinds of hors d'oeuvres did you have? In addition, I know there is a food & beverage minimum if we were to host our private meal at the resort but does this minimum apply to hors d'oeuvres if that's what we choose to do? Or is it just charged by what hors d'oeuvres you choose? Those who have considered it but haven't done it, what stopped you? Am I better off having an earlier ceremony and planning a mean afterwards before the DP? Suggestions?

I seem to be curious about everything =] I'm a big planner and try to have little details somewhat mapped out before I choose to do anything...

I don't know what Disney's policy on this is...but we had an Escape wedding last month. And I felt like we barely had time to eat the cake, much less anything else! Of course, we did a first dance, but that took all of 3 minutes. If you are using DPS, that limits you time-wise to get those pics in. And of course, if you are using the limo service, you only have the limo for 4 hours total. We just barely had time to dance, eat cake, get some pics, and jump back in the limo. And it might just be me, but I felt really rushed, and like it all went by in a blur. I had NO time to visit with my guests. Just a thought! :goodvibes

We extended the cake & champagne reception time and had the fruit and dip platter which was about $7 per person. There was no other charge's.

We then had a reception and then a DP. It was way too much food.
