Planning an Escape VR for July 2008! :goodvibes Need help on some suggestions for a fairly inexpensive (if that's even possible at Disney) for a dinner after our VR for about 19 people (including us). Was thinking about a Illuminations dessert party, but figure that was going to cost around $800 and didn't really want to spend that much. We have the DDE so I was hoping to use that at some restaurant to help curb the price. Any suggesions? And past experiences and approx. what it would cost? Is it possible to have a dinner for 19 for under $800. Not looking for anything too formal, more fun, than formal. 12 adults, 7 children. Please help, have to make ressies soon!! :confused3 Oh, and how do you book? wedding coordinators for escape weddings aren't much help. They say you are on your own :sad2:

i'm trying to figure this out for my family dinner the night before my wedding and am coming up empty handed. we are doing a rehearsal lunch at garden grill, but that requires park passes...how about ohana?

How about something like Boma? It's a set price for the buffet so you would know the cost upfront, the atmosphere is good and there is a bar above it so you could have a drink.

We went in September last year and had a really good time.

what about chef Mickeys? Haven't ate there in awhile but it is a buffet(choices for all) and the characters are there too(for the kids and others too). I haven't been to Ohana, though but alot of brides here go there too.

For something more inexpensive, I would for sure look at an "all you care to eat" type place. It is great because you do know the price up front. Some have already been mentioned. Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Faire are great options and also have characters. I'm having my welcome dinner at Ohana and I'm okay with it. I really wanted to do either the hoop-dee-do revue or the luau at the Poly. Both of those include alcohol in the price! I probaby wouldn't do the hoop-dee-do for my wedding meal, but I think the luau would be nice. Good luck in whatever you decide and keep us posted!

We're doing Ohana for our Escape Reception dinner. It's great for adults and kids alike. They had a Hawaiian performer (she sang, dance and played the Ukulele) that played games with the kids (limbo, teaching the Hula, etc) and it was just fun for the adults to either watch or participate in. We absolutely loved it and we're returning there for our reception (no kids). We just loved it so much and the food is fantastic!

We did 1900 Park Fare. There were 19 of us (14 adults and 5 children). The adults all drank alcohol and we used our DDE. The price tag including gratuity was still under $750! The atmosphere was perfect and we had a blast!!!!

We are having a lunch reception at the Turf Club (located at Saratoga Springs). DF and I have the DDE so that will save a bit. Also, we are having a welcome dinner at Whispering Canyon.

We recently had our lunch reception at the Portobello Yacht Club in Downtown Disney and I can't say enough great things about them! We were sat in a private area (though not a private room, as they don't have one) and had a personalized, four course menu. Our luncheon was around $325 for 9 people, two of whom were children. The food was very good, the staff was super sweet and Eric, the person in charge of events at PYC, was super helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend them for a wedding lunch or dinner!

I also agree with the other ladies that Ohana would be another great place for a wedding dinner. We ate there on our honeymoon and absolutely fell in the love with the place. It was our fave restaurant next to California Grill.

Good luck with your decision! :goodvibes
