has anybody here been to the emergency room? why did you have to go and what happened? just wondering, but here is my experience that scared the heck out of me.....

my dad was in new york on business, and my mom was having her friend and her friend's daughter from out of town stay at our house. my mom's friend's daughter is my age and her name is amy. so anyways, i went to gymnastics, and they picked me up from there and we went home. then we opened up one of the beds on the porch and we were just about to put a movie in when someone said something that was funny, and we were all laughing. then amy said i had a funny smile. i felt a little insulted cuz i hadn't really seen her before, but i laughed it off and went to tell my mom. when she saw me she gasped. i will never forget the look on her face it scared me so much!!! then my mom's friends sai, "morgan, we're going to take a little ride." i suspected it was to the emergency room when somebody started packing books in totebags like "An Activiy Book for the Waiting Room." ahem. so we got there and they took me right in. my mom, along with a lot of other people, thought i had had a stroke. so they took me in to my own little room where they did tests in my blood etc. then they discovered i had bells palsey. bells palsey is when like the muscles in one side of your face stop working. the doctor said i would probably have to stay overnight. so of course i start crying and then he's like, "well, you will have your own big room with a TV, and nintendo." i was like woah so i was kinda gettin excited, and around 11:00 my mom sent my brother, sister, amy, and amy's mom home in our car cuz we figured we would be staying at least one night. meanwhile, my dad is still in new york on business, so my mom calls him and leaves a message on his cell phone saying that i was at the hospital, we'll call ya later for more details. lol!well at 3:00 AM, the doctor said i could go home but i would need to wear an eyepatch when i slept to keep my eye closed (it wouldn't close because of the muscles), and i would have to put false tears in my eye. there was only one problem... we sent the car home. so i had to sleep in the waiting room and take a bus home in the morning... being able to only blink one eye, having only half a smile, and having slept in the waiting room of a hospital... i must have looked like a wreck!!. but later i went to the regular doctor, and they did more tests, and we dicovered i had bells paulsey from lyme disease, and lyme disease from a tick, and we were lucky to catch it cuz usually there is a bulls eye on the skin or sumthing?? i dont know but anyways i had to take this gross medicine. the pharmacist is like, "Oh, don't worry, it's not that bad! We made a nice, rasberry flavor for you." i hate rasberry. so my mom says that she can't see any signs of it anymore, but i think one side of my face always smiles before the other one...

everybody else share your ER stories here....!!

Ok, This past January,I had a basketball game at my school. It was all going pretty good, we were winning be 5! Then someone from my team stole the ball, and we started running as fast as we could down court. Then I heard someone say "sorry" behind me, and the next thing I knew, I was liying on the court in a pool of blood. (sorry about the gruesome-ness, I'll try to leave it out!) Then the trainer came out, and started asking me questions to make sure i didn't have a concussion. So he wrapped my head up in gauze and told my mom to take me to the emergency room. So when we got there, the receptionist was from Greendale, so that was ok, she was nice. I got my own room about 5 minutes later. With a tv too! lol! So i watched a FRIENDS re-run and then had to go get 6 x-rays on my head! yikes! I looked at myself in the mirror, and saw my eyeliner was totally running all around my eye. (my eyeliner is a dark purple color) I didn't pay much attention to it other than it wouldn't wash off. lol! So I watched the end of Providence, got 8 stitches, and was released by 9 oclock. We got in the car to go home, and I looked at my eye in the mirror and realized that it wasn't my eyeliner, but a black eye starting to form! eek! lol! This experience wasn't really that bad, but we lost the game! And i was talking w/my friend Laura til about 11 that night telling asking her what happened! lol! It turned out a girl from the other team got her feet entangled with mine, and I fell, not her. go figure. It's ok though, she was actually crying after the game too. So i felt better! lol!
I have another one good one, but it wasn't exactly in the emergency room, and i think this post is long enough as it is, so maybe i'll post it later!

I never had an ''interesting''ER experience except for a few X-Rays but I'll bump it up for anyone who does!:p

oh gosh!!! I hope everything is ok now with you too!!

oh, I don't know about me! I can't remember stuff to well now! JK!JK! lol!
My other not really emergency room, but hospital story is kinda long, but here's a shortened version. I had back surgery on Feb 19th, and was in Children's Hospital for 6 days. (no DIS either!:( ) It was a great experience overall! The surgery was 4 hour long, and I was on a different floor than I was suppossed to be on cause there wasn't any room. So there was me, and a bunch of cute little toddlers. It was so fun! I got to watch Blue's Clues and Nickelodeon all day, and sleep! When the nurses actually let me stand up(2 days later!) I'd walk around the halls and wave to all the little kids! But my best memory was waking up at like 2 in the morning and talking with the nurses there. (there's not that many little kids here up at 2am anyway) I'm gonna be volunteering there this summer! All my sorta emergency room experiences have been good! lol! so far............

Oh man, I have so many hospital stories. I'm a walking land mine, I have around 50 stitches in my head from around 7 different incidents. I've had around 13 concussions, only the first 4 I've gone to the hospital for, after then it became redundant. All they did was take X-Rays then tell me to be more careful and saddle us with a bill. I broke 5 bones in my hand once wrestling, but I didn't notice for 2 weeks, but then my left hand was twice the size of my right hand, and I decided to go in. The thing is, for most of the injuries, it was from wrestling. Five of the stitches incidents were from wrestling, once when I got hit 7 times with a steel chair and got busted open. Same with most of the concussions, and the hand injury.
And once I was playing football barefoot, and 3 pieces of glass got lodged in my foot, and in time they moved right next to the bone. I waited a month, and when I couldnt fit my foot in my sneaker I went in, and had a very painful operation to get the glass out.

Side note: Does anyone else feel like some veteran describing their old war injuries?

LOL, i've got plenty of others, bt i think the lyme disease was the most interesting. i took dance since i was 4, and one time in second grade, i go to my mom, "mom watch this!" we were in the kitchen and she was making dinner and i did this little twirl think i dont remember what it's called. and then i lost my footing at the very end and i slammed my chin into the kitchen floor. and then my hands came down, and then my legs. so my dad carried me to the bathroom, and they decided i needed to go to the hospital, so i went, and they didn't take me in for FOUR HOURS!!! i mean, i'm 7 years old, my chin is in serious pain, and i'm really tired!!! i thought this was the EMERGENCY ROOM, where they're supposed to take you in right away. but anyways, when they did take me in the doctors like, "wow, they should have taken you in earlier. but he liked the band-aid i had on so that made me happy:D. and after they stichted me up, i couldn't eat or drink for a while cuz i couldn't move my chin. Meanwhile, my brother and sister were at my best friend's house eating dinner and playing games ::sigh:: oh well lol.
