Is the presumption here a phone or something else flying loose from another rider? The attendants we spoke to while waiting for a weather delay told many stories of people sneaking in phones and losing them or getting caught while boarding.

Could that be involuntarily manslaughter or something similar?

Which really brings into question the entire metal detection process. How often are people either A) able to bypass metal detection or B) bringing restricted items through metal detection without being detected?

I have no actual evidence of anything and am not trying to stir the pot.

With that said, I know someone that almost passed out multiple times on this ride during the AP preview. One side seemed to be more intense than the other based on initial feedback. The ride has also been operating at half capacity for a lot of the season. IDK if something was wrong with the actual ride itself.

I've also read lots of complaints about the ride vehicle and restraint. I've seen speculation that the rider could have passed out and been tossed/jostled repeatedly with inferior head/neck restraint while incapacitated. 😥

I doubt it considering it was reported as "multiple blunt impact injuries." That would have been numerous phones flying out of pockets and hitting the one rider?

Yeah, that’s probably not likely, I was just thinking about the incidents with DD in the past. It sounds like the injury from being under-restrained and potentially unconscious is more likely.

Yes! That is true that happened on the other DD ride. All tragic 💔

"ORLANDO, Fla. (September 23, 2025) – Nationally renowned civil rights attorney Ben Crump has been retained by the family of Kevin Rodríguez Zavala, the Epic Universe park visitor who died after riding the Stardust Racers roller coaster.

According to preliminary reports, Rodríguez Zavala, 32, lost consciousness and later died at a hospital after suffering multiple blunt force injuries. The family is seeking full transparency, including the release of maintenance logs, inspection records, ride data, and video footage, to understand the circumstances surrounding Kevin’s death.

Attorney Crump issued the following statement:

“This tragic loss demands a thorough investigation and full transparency. A man died after boarding a ride that should have been safe. We will hold all responsible parties to account and fight to ensure Kevin’s family receives the answers and justice they deserve.”

The family is asking for privacy during this difficult time and requests that all media inquiries be directed to Ben Crump Law’s office."

I'm currently enjoying my day at Epic Universe its 245pm and I've rode every attraction. I was here for the first day of passholder previews with my husband and kids 7, 5 and 3 (no express pass but phenomenal day rode everything, met toothless and watched How to Train your Dragon show), we also ate at Das Steakhouse and Pizza Moon. We were here 2 days end of May with express and had a bad experience on our second day so we're comped a 3rd day (we did a half day). I'm currently sitting at a table at Atlantic as a walk-up. I purchased express pass for the day and my morning started with a 750am Cake Bake Shop breakfast reservation and I was done by 815am so spur of the moment decided to rope drop Remy. There was only 1 person in the single rider line so I decided to utilize it and had exited EPCOT by 845am. I drove myself to Epic parked and arrived at Isle of Burks portal at 950 as the opened it. I was able to rope drop Hiccups without express pass and then jumped in line for Dragon Racer and was headed to Ministry by 1040 am. I still have an express pass for Hiccups that I intend to use later and one for Monsters Unchained since it was basically a walk on. I plan to watch both shows and leisurely explore and may attempt the single rider line for Ministry possibly. If you do Epic I highly recommend buying express pass. Of course Stardust is still closed today which was to be expected but I probably would have knocked it out by this point as well. This has been one of my most enjoyable theme park experiences ever. Maybe I got extremely lucky or I went in with a great strategy. I would have been extremely frustrated without express because most rides had a 55-180 minute wait when I joined the express pass queue.
