Epic Mickey?

The reviews have not been good on this one. The biggest problems they say are the controls and the camera. I was excited to get this, but now I'm skeptical.

My EPIC Mickey REVIEW!!

Ok since a lot of you have yet to play it heres a little info.

I work at a Gamestop, been there for a few years Mickey came out on the 30th and the whole day people were coming in and picking it up, it was very popular the first day out!

I picked up the Collectors Edition which came with:
Mickey figurine
Behind the scenes dvd
The game itself
and decals for your wii and wiimote!

And now for the game.

Now since mostly all us are Disney fans here I think each and every one of you will enjoy this. I got so excited every time I saw pieces of Disney World!

The beginning is like Fantasia and Mickey gets himself into a little mess playing with the Wizards model of Disney world which makes it into the "Waste Land".

The first level is this area where theres the Dumbo ride ( though they call it the elephant ride) lol and the teacups! I got so excited seeing this, after exploring a little bit of this area I went over to Its a small world ( I think they called it the boat ride or something ) The theme music plays in parts of the "ride" and you have to find your way out and to fix the boats. The next part I enjoyed alot was "Mean Street" which looks JUST like the Main Street we all know and love, but it is a little dark and mysterious, The castle is all distorted and the statue of Mickey and Walt is Walt and Oswald! The little cutscene that shows this OMG I was almost in tears! :confused3

I know this doesn't really tell a whole lot about the game, it is kind of hard to explain but once you get playing YOU WILL LOVE IT!

The Game DOES require ALOT of reading,as the characters dont voice over what is being said in the dialogue boxes so with that being said I would suggest this game for children 10 & up if you are considering it as a Christmas Gift, just giving a heads up.

I do not think it would be scary for young children at all, but it is different from the Mickey they may know from say Playhouse Mickey or whatever that show is called. It goes back to the older films of Mickey (Steamboat Willie etc) and also older characters are in it so they may not recognize them.

Overall though this game is GREAT! I really would recommend it to everyone here who is a true Mickey fan!

You sold me!!:rotfl2: Off to order it!:thumbsup2

I bought the game today, but haven't played it yet. I am SURE that this will be me...I am controller challenged, to put it mildly! But I hope that I can figure it out and don't get too frustrated by it.

Controller challenged sounds about right.:confused3 I have been debating on whether or not to buy this game...I think the only game station my family does not own is a wii, and I really hate to get it and have no other use for it than me ATTEMPTING to play this game. Well I dont plan on doing anything about it until tax time anyways. (after my trip to Disney in January)LOL. Maybe Ill find some place to try it out when we go to WDW...Keep the reviews coming! :thumbsup2

Played through the entire campaign and as a someone who is enjoys gaming and someone who enjoys disney this intersects both of my main past times and will give my 2 cents.
For a casual gamer and a disney fan this is a very good game. Lot of nostalgia and very fun disney history and bringing in the theme parks and characters makes it a great story and a true disney fan will enjoy this very much.
For the gamer in me its kind of poorly put together, the camera is probably one of the worst I have ever seen in a game. The movement and motion sickness that is being heavily reported online is something I can see and understand but not an issue for me. The controls are also on the subpar side. You adapt to it but it does take away from the game because fluidity and smoothness are lost to stop everything and line yourself up so you dont have to do it 40 times.
I would have to say that most people on these boards will love it but get annoyed by the camera and be satisfied. But if you are playing it for a game and a platform game like most mario games and other platformers, I would skip right over it.

For anyone with the paintbrush, do you REALLY need it, or can I save $20 and not get it? Does it help a lot?

I have the same question. I bought my DD Just Dance 2 but I'm thinking about returning it and getting Epic Mickey instead but I don't want to pay another $20 for the paintbrush if it doesn't make things a lot easier.

you need the paintbrush as much as you need the epic mickey wiimote charger.

ironically, the nunchuk is used for the paint thinner.

Sorry, Brad but this doesn't answer the question for those of use who are clueless! :lmao: I assume the answer is "no".

I bought my wife (and probably me, too) Epic Mickey for our Wii. I was wondering what everyone's impression of it is, and how complex the controls are for the game. My wife tends to get a bit impatient if a video game is too complex, but she does love the mouse!

The paintbrush controller is just a normal Wii nunchuck attachment with a paintbrush facade. It will change nothing about the game.

The physical controls are not complex at all, but the in-game controls aren't great. You will miss a lot of jumps and get killed by enemies due to the sometimes-frustrating controls and the poor camera.

Personally, I enjoy the game (though I still need to go back and finish it). The camera and the controls are very unforgiving, and you will get frustrated at times, but they don't make the game unplayable. If you're a fan of Disney, particularly classic Disney, I definitely give it a recommendation. There's tons of details and fun references that personally, are what make the game.

I think the controls are ok. The camera is what's lame. It's the price you pay for not having dual analog sticks.

nice - resurected post from 2010!

I really enjoy playing the game - for anyone who likes WDW it's fun to see the way they translated the places in the MK to the game.

I didn't enjoy it at all. The original idea and execution was FANTASTIC, but it got dumbed down because people were offended... They ended up with a final product that was a mish-mash of sort of fun moments, , ruined by bad controls and worse camera angles.

I did enjoy the Kinect Disneyland game though.

There are 3D games on the Wii that don't have camera/control problems. Super Mario Galaxy, for instance.

I *love* this game... but I can't play it. People have mentioned the poor camera angles, and see, at some point, I got old... and I get motion sickness from playing!  I wish I could tolerate it, because I think it is the perfect dose of mouse when you need it. I'm particularly obsessed with the classics, so the incorporation of the black and whites makes my day.
