Epic Mickey - Worth the Hype

So, the new Epic Mickey game came out today. Has anybody bought it yet? Is it worth all the fuss? I am thinking about buying it this week if it really is as good as I have heard.

It is on my DS (15)'s Christmas list, his grandpa is getting it for him. I was glad he didn't ask for a killing type game.

Are you a gamer? Have you ever played Kingdom Hearts, Okami, Zelda, or Fable?

It is an RPG which is what I prefer to play. That might explain the "hype". It is rare to get a fun RPG released.

I just received it for my dh's Christmas present. The premise and format is right up his alley. Not so much up mine. I'm a pacman kind of gal.

DH and I got rid of our Wii for an XBOX (we love Fable, Left 4 Dead, Soul Calibur and just were tired of the Wii) and now I wish we had it just so we could try Epic Mickey.

Can't wait to hear about it!

I'm picking mine up this evening and I plan to play quite a bit tonight or tomorrow. I'm excited about it - the reviews I've read so far have been very good. Some of my favorite "forgotten" Disney things showed up in the Epic Mickey digicomic, and I'm hoping some of them will make an appearance in the game as well.

I have played all the Kingdom Hearts and i LOVE them. The 2 for PS2 were the best though. I have played a few Zelda games also and they are super fun. I am curious about Epic Mickey but it's gotten panned my gaming critics so I hope it's not terrible!

Epic Mickey I suspect is very much like Okami which I played and it was fun. My youngest dd wanted it and of course I end up picking it up and then finishing the game first. She kind of got bored with it.

It is a different kind of game, if you have never played Okami.

But yea, you are right that it is probably not going to be like the first Kingdom Hearts or Zelda Twilight Princess. Heck, RPG's kind of blow for the most part imo. There is just "no freedom" anymore, you know?

Yea, but are there ANY good RPG's that are released anymore? NO. They are too plot driven because the makers do not want to put in the time because I am sure it is not cost effective. Everything is active or first person.

Look at FF13. I could not wait for it and I just hate the strict plot driven gaming. I really need to check out Fable 2 because I know that is "free".

So.....I had to force myself to learn first person last yr. I bought an XBOX. I can play "Left For Dead" pretty good now. I need to check out HALO next.

Next up is to get into the active gaming. I think I am going to buy "Just Dance" for the Wii, if I can pick it up used.

That's always my fear with video games..

It probably won't be the sort of game where people play it over and over, but since there are different endings and it's easy to miss out on some side quests I suspect that many people who like the game will end up playing it more than once.

Fable 2 was AWESOME. I recently completed it, but want to go back, following the more evil line..LOL

I am looking forward to Fable 3 too..and Epic Mickey..I may rent it first, just to make sure I like it, then buy it for Christmas for myself

I'm going to do the same thing when I finish my character now!!

I always want to steal things but don't want to ruin my good standing..
