After Madalyn disrobed, we headed up to the Japan counter service. I had never been up there before its sort of up from where the drummers perform and across the way from Teppan Edo. There is a little bit of seating inside and a little outside.
I am not sure how they deal with summer crowds up there. Anyway, we got a shady table outside and I went in to get some food. Madalyn and I still were not hungry, but my bottom-less pit of a teenager was ready for a real meal! She decided that since she had never had sushi before, buying a plate of it was a good idea and pairing that with some udon noodles would be even better. In case she didnt care for the sushi. They have such a combo, so I indulged her.
She thought the sushi was okay. And loved the noodles. I had a few of the noodles, but they were really salty. And while Katie was eating, Madalyn found the need to make a wish on a coin to throw into the pond.
And then we were visited by a duck family! There was the momma duck and a bunch of ducklings. They were adorable as they waddled from table to table looking for scraps that had been dropped over the course of the day. And while I was attempting to get a photo. My camera stopped working. I took out the battery and put it back in. Managed to take a picture. And then I got a lens error notation. I took out the battery again. And then it seemed to work again. By now, the ducklings had moved on. And my Kodak moment had paddled away.
Next stop: Morocco. I would be hard pressed to name a favorite country. But I think that Morocco would be one of my top choices. I love the fountain at the entrance to the pavilion.
I love the shops. The alley ways that lead to more fountains.
(Where my camera proceeded to die yet again. And I had to once again, take out the battery and see if that would reset it.) Mo Rockin. Getting a henna tattoo. And the food. Oh, the food. Marrakesh is a favorite for table service. I always get the same thing the lamb couscous. (And I am trying to work it into my girls trip in August!) And this trip we went to the Tangerine café. I think I got the shwarma platter. Katie was finally full, so Madalyn and I split this one. Madalyn ate most of my lamb. Katie discovered. And then devoured my hummus. None of us really cared for the cold couscous salad. So. Um. I really dont think I got much of this dinner!
But that was okay, because I knew that we were heading to France for pastries! France is a favorite for my girls. Again. Its the food. Let me explain. In the first few days of school, Madalyns class made these all about me pages. With things like their ages, family and pets, favorite subject, and favorite food. They were hanging in the hallway when we went to open house. I was standing there reading them. And Madalyns just made me laugh out loud. Why? Because of her favorite food. Some of the other kids put things like: mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, spaghetti, bacon. But Madalyn? Her choice for favorite food was escargots! And it was even spelled correctly. Thats my girl! She keeps trying to convince me to make a reservation in France for next week just so she can go and get her own platter of escargots and not have to share. Maybe I can order her up a table for one!
Anyway, we bypassed the snails on this trip, and made a beeline right for the pastries. Madalyn got an éclair.
And Katie got my absolute favorite dessert in the world showcase the strawberry tart.
Devine! And this is high praise coming from me. I am firm believer that fruit and dessert do not belong in the same sentence together. Its an oxymoron. Chocolate is dessert. But this tart? For this. I will make an exception!
Looking at the time 7:45ish it was time to head back to future world if we wanted to use our fast passes for test track and Soarin. We blew through England and Canada. I really wanted some fish and chips but I was oh so full. Are there snacks of any kind to get in Canada??
We stopped to get our picture taken again.
And again. My camera dies. I play with it a bit and get this final photo before I decide not to mess with it again. (Leaving it to my engineering husband to mess with when we get home. He finds some post explaining how to deal with a lens error and just cleans the contacts between the camera and the lens, and all appears to be working now. Knock wood!)
We headed over to Test Track. And then on our way to Soarin, we had to stop and ride Space Ship Earth. My girls just love this. I love it! We planned for the future. And then went back to my scooter so that we could quickly get to the Land. Except that we realized that the umbrella that Madalyn bought in China was no longer with us. She wasnt sure if she left it with my scooter. Or left it on Test Track. Or in one of the vehicles parked outside. Or in a Spaceship earth vehicle. We went back to ask at Space Ship earth, but they hadnt seen it.
We decided to go on over to Soarin and then wed check with guest services on our way out. We got to the ride right at 9pm and we were the last ones through before they closed the ride! We soared over California and then when we were done because we were all the way over to the right they let us ride again with the last group through! Very cool. Two times in a row!
So we meandered over to Guest services to check the lost and found and it wasnt there. Unfortunately, it wasnt there the next two times that I called about it either. Oh well. Well see if Madalyn buys another to replace it. And if she can hang on to it this time!
Thus ends our Spring break surprise mini trip report.
Up next: We leave in THREE DAYS!!!!
Final plans for our first trip of the year
Massive changes in ADRs for the girls trip
Additional guests for the girls trip
And how many more trips should I plan this year?
