Epic Mickey - 10 day girls trip - Aug/Sept! *Updated 8/25 - 7 hours!!*

We ate at Y&Y last October... pretty sure I had the Crispy Honey Chicken with jasmine rice. Not sure what anyone else had. Shane likes mahi mahi, so that very well could be what he ordered!

I had to look on to find out about your Year of Disney! Have only read the first page so far but it looks awesome :thumbsup2

I love all your pics and yours girls look lovely. Bringing friends along is an amazing idea, I have a sister who is 13 (much younger than me!) and she would love to do this!

Looking forward to hearing more :)

Welcome and thanks so much for joining in Ariel! We had a great time with the friends coming with us over the summer - but it really does make for a different dynamic. I am so looking forward to Friday and 10 days with no demands from the girls!

Make a later reservation :goodvibes We miss you by two well three days! We're flying on the 24th we're staying off property for first 12 days but going straight to animal Kingdom on the 25th anyway :)

Ack - We are going to just miss you aren't we?! Our schedule is like that so we can be back for our traditional Thanksgiving with the family - which is good because my husband isn't coming with us on this trip!

Did you like Y&Y? I thought it was okay - but my favorite part was the wok fried green beans - yum! And those are not included with the free dining.

Here is my wish to transform dining: you get one appetizer and one dessert per four people. Four people don't need 4 desserts. And I really want appetizers back :thumbsup2

4 days!!!

I am trying to not concern myself with Irene. But with the way she is tracking right now, it looks like our only issue will be the drive down. And possibly rain the rest of the day - and maybe on Saturday. Hopefully. Fingers crossed. And pixiedust:

We left off on Wednesday, August 31st. Angie and I have eaten dinner at Boma. And we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our third co-conspirator, Shannon (aka, Pixie Mama). She will probably not arrive til 11ish. And I have a feeling we'll all be too excited to get to sleep right away.

Our plan for Thursday - Sept 1 - is to be at Epcot for rope drop. I am not sure if Angie and I will even be able to get fast passes for test track or Soarin' earlier in the week, so I am so glad that we'll finally be able to get to these rides! The other thing on our agenda is to really meander through the World Showcase sans children...something that Shannon has never done. And I *know* that the caramel kitchen will be on the agenda as well. And we will top off our evening eating at the Beach Club - at the Cape May clam bake. I picked this night because of the calamari - one of my favorites :thumbsup2

Friday will start bright and early at Hollywood Studios with the mad dash to TSM - and multiple rides on RnR - and cupcakes at Starring Rolls. Eventually we may head over to Magic Kingdom - and then monorail over to the Polynesian for our 8:10 adr for Ohana.

And then we finally hit our last day of the girls trip. :sad1: We will be at Animal Kingdom for rope drop and multiple rides on EE. And avoiding the Flights of Wonder show as Shannon has bird issues;) And then we'll head over to Epcot for our last evening - with an adr at 7pm at Rose & Crown. I think we are too early to eat on the patio for Illuminations - but I think we'll find a way to watch the show for our girls trip send off.

On Sunday, I am not sure what Shannon is going to do while she waits for the rest of her group to arrive to start part two of her girls trip (pool? DTD? A park day?) - but Angie and I are thinking of going to DTD and using up any remaining counter services at the EoS to take in the car with us. And then we have the long drive back. And reality waiting for us. Until the next trip!

HA!

I was going to leave a comment that said, "You have just 4 days... where's the next update?!"

You beat me to it. ;)

Yes, we all liked Y&Y. I'd eat there again. And I agree, I'd rather have appetizers back on the dining plan than desserts. Too bad each person can't choose... they could let you choose to have an appetizer or dessert with each TS meal.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure what I'll do Sunday. Probably go to DTD with you guys, if you and Ang decide to go. I guess I could still go there by myself, if y'all end up leaving earlier. I hadn't thought about going to a park by myself, but I could do that, too! I'd have to add a day to my ticket, but that wouldn't be too much, right?

Oh, and regarding my "bird issues"...

Do you know I've never seen the Enchanted Tiki Room show?! :lmao:

Yippee - I posted before I made you angsty!

I saw somewhere that appetizers are too expensive and that is why they were taken off - but I wish we could just share. And I'd be okay sharing that dessert, too. But...somehow I don't think they are going to ask my opinion about the dining plan!

You could totally go to a park - it would only be $8 to add a day - such a deal! You could go and shop in the WS. Or not - if you want to shop, you should shop with me so you can get the 20% discount! But exploring - or just going to ride EE in the single riders line 300 times could be really fun, too!

And that is so funny about the Tiki room - but then again, I haven't seen it either. I don't think we are missing anything. But. I do like the Flights of Wonder show.

Hooray for 4 days :yay::yay:

I can't even tell you how jealous I am of you. I have been going through the Disney withdrawls lately . I was at the Disney Store the other day and wasn't even excited because I had no purpose, no upcoming trip to buy for. It is too early to prep for DH and mines trip next October or even our 2013 trip as a family? :rotfl:

Have you considered leaving a day early to try and dodge the dreary drive? It's been so hard deciding what to do, but last night we bit the bullet and paid the money to change our flights to Thursday. Since we were paying we went ahead and did Thursday morning so we'd have most of the day there, may as well since it's costing us so much and didn't want to risk cutting it too close to the storms arrival by coming in Thursday evening.

Just abandon your family for a week and come join us :thumbsup2 - no problem, right?;) I am so excited - and my to do list is getting smaller all the time. But...what is left are some big things - like prepping for my classes that start the week after. ACK - so much to do there - but I like my title of queen of procrastination.

And you can plan that Oct trip now. I happen to know a fantabulous travel agent that can get it all set up for you ;)

I don't think that it will work out for us to leave early - but based on the tracking map TODAY (and who knows what it will be tomorrow!) - our drive shouldn't be bad at all - we are coming down 75 - so no where near the coast. But it looks like the coasts further north really need to batten down the hatches if it really comes in as a category 3!

Just wanted to say have a great trip and especially a safe drive down!!! Can't wait to hear all about it come September!

Right back at ya!! Message me on FB if anything changes - would still LOVE to figure out a way for our paths to cross :)

Enjoy your extra day and I'll see ya on the other side!

Well.

Angie is here.

Our pajama party is lovely. Except that Angie has a sinus infection. I am hoping that she keeps her germs to herself.

The van is all packed. And all we need to do is have some sweet dreams. And then we are off to the world!

I'll be updating facebook if you would like to friend me there, I'd love for you to follow along - Katrina Slagle Harris.

Otherwise - I'll be back in September and tell you all about the plans for October!
