Epic Mickey - 10 day girls trip - Aug/Sept! *Updated 8/25 - 7 hours!!*

Welcome back , glad you had a great trip, can't wait to hear more about it. Followed on FB as much as I could, but I was "off the grid" for most of the past 2 weeks. I feel so out of the loop!

ACK!!! I can't believe it's been this long since I've updated. During our last few days at Disney, I was dealing with a kidney stone issue - and that really didn't clear up til last week. And doing much of anything was not on my agenda. But. School starts tomorrow. And I have lots to tell you!! (And I have to decide if I have the ability to do a whole trip report - or if I am going to stick to telling you about all our plans for trips!)

Will update tomorrow. Promise. Really.

Really.

Sorry you weren't feeling well! Can't wait to hear more - either about the trip or the next one! :thumbsup2

I had no idea of your kidney stone issue!

I kinda like your TR-within-a-PTR... I have no problem with you doing that! ;)

I am feeling much better - I am just so hoping that nasty stone won't rear its ugly head again - and especially not while we are at the world!

Okay - my day is finally settling down - off to work on an actual update post!

Well. What started out at two trips has managed to quickly morph into three - and then four trips for this year. (Though I must admit to be thinking about #5 in there too. And that's just for this year!)

We had a fabulous time on our two week trip. Love, love, love the waterparks. I wish there was a way to fit them into our upcoming trips. Maybe in November - but I suppose it will depend on the weather. But. Let's talk about the next trip.

There was this study I read recently that said that people get more enjoyment out of planning their vacation than their actual vacation. What do you think? I am actually not sure. I LOVE to plan the trip. And change things around. ;) With Disney though - I think I love the trip a whole lot too. Is it more than the planning? Same? I am not sure I could quantify!

Way back when - when I first told you about trip #2 - and how I became a Disney travel agent because of it - this was the scoop:

My friend Angie and I were going together. Our third co-conspirator couldn't go because she already had plans with her mom and sister to come down the day we were leaving. Well it just so happens that said co-conspirator is writing a PTR right here on the DIS. So. I happened to suggest to her that she come with Angie and I for at least part of our trip. She got to thinking. And planning. And plotting - just like a good co-conspirator. And she finally had her eureka moment when she found airfare for under a $100!!

Here are the three amigos and players for my upcoming girls trip: (me, Shannon and Angie)

When I first made the reservations - it was for us to start on Sunday, August 28 - with hopes of free dining. And when that dining came out - and our first day was the first day of the promotion - it was like the heavens aligned! We are booked at Pop Century from Aug 28 - Sept 4. Shannon is joining us mid-week. Which is oh so cool as we can use her dining credits before she arrives!

And then to make our trip even more exciting - Angie and I aren't arriving on Sunday. No we are not. We are leaving Atlanta on Friday the 26th! So we needed another place to stay. Well. Being a travel agent. It's my job to check out all the resorts ;) - so we are staying at Port Orleans - Riverside on Friday night. This will be great for Angie as she is thinking about staying her in a royal room when she comes with her family next fall. Then on Saturday morning, we will check out and head to the Wilderness Lodge for the night. I am so excited about staying here! I think our only problem is that the first part of our stay will be so nice - I am worried that POP will be disappointing by comparison.

Especially in regards to the beds. I need a soft bed. I have thought about buying a memory foam pad to bring. But that seems like a pain. And they are so expensive! Anyone know if the value beds are soft or firm??

girls get together to make shirts
Dining plans!

Ahhhh, the infamous 1st photo of the three of us!

That's interesting about the study... I can definitely see how people would get more enjoyment out of the planning of their vacation than the actual vacation itself.

And I'm sooooo glad you planted the seed in my brain about joining you guys! We are going to have SO. MUCH. FUN! :hyper:

Oh, and glad you're feeling better! Hopefully you won't have any more problems with a pesky kidney stone!!!

I LOVE that picture of the three of us :) - it just makes me happy! And I can't wait to see what other beauties we capture while we are there!

17 days!!! And I know. We are going to have a blast. I inform my family daily about the countdown. They might be a bit tired of hearing about it. ;)

Well. I am off to do some Latin tutoring. And then hopefully get another update in this afternoon.

I think I've asked Shane "Are you going to miss me?" just about every day for the last week. By now, he just rolls his eyes and walks away.

Pretty much the only Latin I know is:

Veni, vidi, Visa.

I came, I saw, I shopped.

:lmao:

Unfortunately - my student can't remember that much :-) It's been a tough year!

We leave for our girls trip in 17 Days!!!:banana:

I am just so excited. And my calendar is filling with all kinds of things that I need to get accomplished before I go. But my favorite thing to is still more trip planning. ;)

When we went on our trip this summer, I made tshirts for all of us. And I figured that we should have shirts for our girls trip as well. They had to be the same ones as I am so not creative enough to figure out a different plan. So. Angie and Shannon drove down from Chattanooga for a day of crafting, lunching, and pin trading!

Wait. What? Pin trading? Yep. We have decided to be pin traders. After watching my girls trade for years - I decided that it really looked like a lot of fun. So, the three of us found a seller on ebay and bought 100 pins to divide between us. We put all the pins on the table and then took turns picking which ones we wanted. And then my girls decided that they needed to trade for some of this new bounty! My plan is to trade for villans :)

We started on our shirts - making our spirals - and then we went out to lunch at Red Robin while we waited for them to dry. When we got back, we did the spray paint part - and we helped Shannon out as she was also making the shirts for her group that was coming when we left.

The shirts dried quickly in the hot sun while the three of us visited and laughed and plotted and planned.

And then Shannon made me realize that I really didn't have a park plan in place. I was thinking that with all our meal reservations, we would be hopping a lot and seeing all of the parks. But. After looking closely, I saw that I really needed some sort of plan. Which I finally got together. And that naturally caused some tweaking of our dining reservations (my favorite! I love to make those reservations. And then change them! Does anyone else constantly second guess their decisions?!).

Shirts were finally dry - and I made Shannon and Angie model their efforts:

And then we finally got a group photo:

I know -- SO, SO excited -- 16 days - almost 15 days til we have 10 days at the world. With no kiddos. I am just beside myself :banana::banana::banana:

(And WELCOME to my PTR. Love that I am not talking to myself :thumbsup2)

I think that SIXTEEN days before we leave - I might finally - maybe have my plans under control. Possibly.

So. Here's the scoop:

On Thursday, Aug 25, Angie is going to drive down from Chattanooga and have a pajama party with me :thumbsup2. And I am hopefully going to be completely packed. Have the itinerary for my girls written out for my mom and husband. Have homeschool plans for my daughter completed for the following week. And have lesson plans for the first week of homeschool classes that I teach (and that is for five classes!).

On Friday, we'll wait for Atlanta traffic to die down a bit - or we'll head out into the thick of it - I suppose it might all depend on how late we stay up! I am hoping that we'll be out of here by 8:30 at the latest. But we'll see. If we get out that early, we should arrive 3:30ish at Port Orleans - Riverside.

I am going to try and keep it simple by just having an overnight/toiletry bag for tonight. We'll find our room. Maybe even go to the pool. And then eventually head over to Downtown Disney (I am not sure if we'll drive or take the boat) for our 6:45 ADR at Raglan Road. I have been stalking the Dining board - and there have been a lot of reviews of it lately. The food and the show look fabulous!

After dinner, I am not sure what we'll do. I suppose it might depend on how much sleep we got the night before ;). But...if we are up to it, we might go to the Magic Kingdom for their evening extra magic hours. Or back to the resort for sleep or pool time.

On Saturday, we'll get up and check out - heading to the Wilderness Lodge for the evening. I am hoping to spend some time exploring the resort and hanging out at the pool. We are contemplating a jaunt over to the Beach Club to see how long the wait is to get into Beaches and Cream (maybe 11ish won't have too long a wait?). After an afternoon at the lodge, we'll get cleaned up and head over to Epcot for the evening - and we have an ADR at La Hacienda at 8pm. I am hoping that we'll be lucky enough to get a table by a window so that we can watch Illuminations.

After snoozing in our lovely deluxe queen beds, we'll check out and head to our home for the rest of the week: Pop Century.

And we have a logistical issue :) I am planning to rent a scooter from Apple Scooters. But. I can't lift it into my van. So. I'll have to have Angie drive my van from the Wilderness Lodge to Pop Century while I catch a boat or bus to Magic Kingdom and transfer over. Hopefully it won't be too big of a pain!

After we check into Pop and get situated - we'll head out to the bus and go to Epcot for the day. I am hoping that we'll get there by noon. I am not sure of our plan quite yet. We might do some of the shorter line attractions like Nemo, Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land - and then head over to the World Showcase. We'll have to see what the fast past return times are for Soarin' and Test Track. Wow. My plan is much more lucy goosey than I thought ;) But. Tonight we'll be having our first free dining meal - at 7:30 at Les Chefs de France. I can't wait to make Angie try some escargots!

Coming up next:
Even more plans!

You've stayed at POR before, right? Or was it POFQ?

Even though you'll just be there for one night, I want a full report of your stay at WL. :thumbsup2

And if you get Angie to try escargot, you must get pics, LOL!

Hi Kat!

Sorry it has been so long since I posted here! I have been sooo busy. Wow, you will be back in the world in a few days! I am sooo envious. I hope you have a great time.

Alright, I think our paths may cross again. I see you will be at Disney over Thanksgiving and so will we!!! I have tweaked and changed our plans some so my ticker isn't accurate. We are now arriving on November 18th and leaving November 26th. Right now I have us at 3 resorts! :scared1: OKW, BW and SSR. We are not doing the dining plan this time so I only have a few ressies but I need to tweak those. What are your dates?

Erika

I have stayed at POFQ - twice - but not at POR. I am so excited about WL. We tried to stay somewhere club level - but our only option was at the Poly - and with it being almost $400 - with my agent discount - we decided WL was a better option!

I hope that Angie will try the escargots - and that she'll like them much better than calamari. Though the reason I scheduled our Cape May reservations for Thursday was because it's calamari night :rotfl:

Love the shirts!

Your ladies trip sounds like it's going to be great!

Hey there! I am loving your trip report. I wish I was motivated to write my own - and many thanks for continuing to follow along here. I am beyond excited about my girls/mom trip. I can't even imagine being there without my girls - but to have 10 days where no one demands anything of me - it's a dream come true :thumbsup2

Hey stranger! I am dying for you to update your TR - I want to know what happened to get that title!:)

I so hope our plans will cross - especially since we missed each other over the summer. We arrive on Nov 17 - but I haven't made resort reservations yet  - but I am hoping to get my agent discount at AKL. And my thoughts now are Fri - MK (I haven't decided about the xmas party - but am leaning towards not doing it), Sat - HS (we are eating at the Sci Fi for lunch), Sun - EP (dinner in France) and Mon - AK. At least those are the plans for the moment. I am always open to changes!
