Epic Mickey - 10 day girls trip - Aug/Sept! *Updated 8/25 - 7 hours!!*

Oh - I am SOOOO jealous! A third trip!!!! AWESOME!!! You are certainly getting your money's worth out of those AP's!

:banana:Yay for trip #3!!!! I have never been to F&W but was there in September for MNNSHP. Really wish I could swing that again this year but Thanksgiving won out.

Don't you love those AP's. I am starting to think about when we will go back in 2012 to make sure we get our moneys worth!

"Burning a hole in your pocket", LOL! You haven't even been on your FIRST trip yet, and you're already planning your THIRD?!?!?! :lmao:

I know! But if anyone deal with my craziness - it's ya'll! (And I suppose I shouldn't mention the other three trips on the horizon. It is the Year of Disney!)

Oh - I am SOOOO jealous! A third trip!!!! AWESOME!!! You are certainly getting your money's worth out of those AP's!

If I am going to spend that much money -- I really want to feel like I got a huge bang for my buck. And really, that third trip should not be a big deal as far as funds go. I am loving the idea of Mickey on the cheap!

I am loving the APs. It's funny because I don't actually have them yet!!

The F&W is fabulous. Even my kids wanted to make sure that we tried to go this year...and they were over the moon when they heard that it looks like a done deal. MNSSHP is great too. We have done it twice - and had a great time. The next trip that my AP is beckoning me to take is one where I can see the Christmas decorations - and maybe even do the Christmas party. I am contemplating going right before Thanksgiving.

So...how many trips are you going to plan to get your money's worth?!

Thursday, April 7

Today was our do-nothing day. We slept in. Had leisurely showers. I photoshopped my pictures from Sea World Day 1 – and then uploaded them to facebook. Got my directions to DTD…and finally we were on our way.

First. What is the deal with the parking at DTD? Those lots are insane. We meandered quite a bit trying to find a space. And finally lucked into one by the T-Rex restaurant. (Actually, I had thought that Rainforest Café was gone and that T-Rex took its place – but that is not the case!).

Our first order of business was not to check on my KTTW for old tickets – but to get lunch. And we headed to one of my favorites – The Earl of Sandwich. My favorite sandwich is gone – Le Frenchy (ham, brie, and dijonaise) – I am still in mourning. I am not sure what I ordered – I think a club. Katie got a chicken Caesar wrap. Madalyn a turkey and cheese. We had no trouble finding a table outside – and our sandwiches were ready rather quickly.

Somehow. My child. Decided that she didn’t like Earl of Sandwich. Because of the bread! I on the other hand thought it was divine. And Katie decided that my sandwich was much better than her wrap – so she ate half of mine. And then we needed a cupcake. Or two.

Madalyneatingcupcake.jpg

We headed towards guest services. But first we had to stop in Once Upon a Toy. Where the girls found the need to check out the light sabers.

girlswithlightsabers.jpg

We walked through another store. That I can’t recall the name of. The one with the “fancy” Disney stuff. They had some really cute things. And Katie found a purse that had her name all over it. It had Disney characters all over it. Not babies. Maybe the teen versions. And they all wore geeky glasses. Complete with the tape over the bridge of the nose. I think it even said Disney nerds on it too. But we decided to wait until summer to buy it as I’ll have a 20% discount with the PAP.

Madalyn on the other hand does not have quite the restraint as her sister. And desperately needed to buy something with her money. But she just couldn’t decide. We went into the sports store – and I discovered that Guest services was right next to it. So the girls entertained themselves with Disney basket balls and golf while I went to check on those tickets.

I brought ALL of my KTTW with me – just to see if there might be anything on any of them. Fingers were crossed. Toes were xed. And…miracle of miracles. There was not one. But TWO one day tickets still available! Our day at Epcot was all set – I just needed to buy a one day ticket!

Our good news needed a celebration. So. We went shopping. First stop: pin traders. My girls love to trade pins. But, I didn’t bring them on this trip. I wasn’t sure if Disney was in the cards – and I didn’t want to attempt to find or hide one more thing! The girls aren’t into collecting them per se. They just love to stop and talk to EVERYONE. And pin trading makes them social. Rather than creepy.

We bought a lanyard and two pins as a birthday gift for Madalyn’s friend Hannah that will be joining us later this month. (Can I get a “SQUEE!!” It’s later THIS month! As in less than 30 days. Squee!!)

And then we went into the World of Disney. Where the girls tried on all the hats. And I tried not to think about all the other people who have put them on their heads.

And Madalyn found a Mickey plush that was screaming her name.

MadalynatGoofys.jpg

And naturally, we ended up at Goofy’s. Where Katie needed to buy a slushie. And some chocolate for her bff Claire. And I found some jellybeans for my mom. We were putting the jelly beans in a bag – but I really don’t want to spend $10 a pound on jelly beans. But there is no scale out for you to see how much is actually in your bag. So I go up to the counter to ask about this – and they weigh my bag for me. Love ya mom – just not quite that much. They say we can dump out whatever we don’t want. Which I do. And we weigh again. And dump again. And maybe even one more time! I want to know what they do with the beans people “put back.” Do they put them back? Throw them away? Is this why it’s $10 a pound – to deal with the mistakes?

My favorite things are the chocolate covered pretzels. But I cannot rationalize spending $5 on a pretzel stick. So we continued to walk some more. Back on our first trip, the girls did the make your own marshmallows. I’d love to make some pretzels. Love that sweet and salty thing. But. I abstained.

I had to take pictures of the Minnie and Mickey cake. It’s a rice krispy treat cake – my mom’s favorite thing! I wish I had enough talent to pull that off for her birthday.

My feet were starting to hurt, so Katie and I sat down to relax on a bench while Madalyn went for a ride on the carousel. She chose the “teacup” rather than a horse and spun herself silly.

We went back to our car, but we weren’t quite ready to head back to my aunt’s house, so we drove a bit around Disney property. I wish we had gone to check out the Boardwalk, but the girls were disinterested – so we finally did head back to St. Cloud.

Next up: Day 2 at Sea World.

Right now, summer and Thanksgiving so I think you must go right before Thanksgiving! ;) Not sure about next year. We are wanting to do a cruise and we are still out on when that will be. I know there will be at least one more in 2012, just not sure when.

Earl of Sandwich is definitely on my list this summer. We have never eaten there. Those sandwiches look awesome.

Wow, never noticed that rice crispie cake before. It looks great!

All caught up on your report! I've been slowly catching up on everyone's while trying to get a start on my TR. I think we are definately going to have to do Seaworld on our next trip. I'm glad to hear your thoughts on the meal plan because I think we would have probably gone for it, now I know to skip it! Smart move on the Shamu show, when we went back in 2002 somehow I was convinced to sit in the splash section. Let's just say I had to go buy myself a new shirt and DS a pair of shorts because we got so wet and never dried out! Never again, we have annual passes to the National Aquarium and the kids always sit in the splash zone with DH while I sit safely a few rows above them at the dolphin show, lol.

I can't believe your DD didn't like the bread at EOS, we decided while eating it on our trip that the bread was what made the sandwich!

As I've already told you, we've never been to DTD. I'm actually afraid of what would happen if I were to let my two girls loose in Goofy's Candy Co.! :hyper:

When will you be there for Thanksgiving?? I am thinking about driving down on the afternoon of Thursday the 17th of Nov - and drive home on the 21st or 22nd. I have no idea where we might stay - with points - or using my agent discount or with my aunt.

EOS is fabulous - don't let my 10 year old convince you otherwise!

Absolutely skip the meal plan - and bring some snacks! But...really we loved SeaWorld - it's just not Disney. I need to get myself in gear and get my next day done so that I can get to the Epcot day!

The last time we were at the National Aquarium was when Katie was a baby! They didn't allow strollers, but would swap them out for a backpack. I just remember Michael complaining about being kicked in the ribs - and then all of a sudden having this dead weight when Katie fell asleep

And, yes -- the bread really does make the sandwich at EOS. Madalyn is just a strange duck!

As I've already told you, we've never been to DTD. I'm actually afraid of what would happen if I were to let my two girls loose in Goofy's Candy Co.! :hyper:

When we have gone before, we were able to let the girls loose because we usually go there on our way home to use all our snack credits. It's kinda fun to say "get what you want!"

It's no secret amongst my friends - I am not crafty. I don't like the mess. The bits. The pieces. The mess. When my girls were in preschool, their teachers would tell me that I needed to work more with them on their scissor skills. But. Yeah. That didn't happen. Cause it might have given the girls the impression that I supported crafts! My youngest LOVES to do crafts. I encourage her to make friends with girls with crafty mommas so she can do crafts at their houses.

Anyway.

Today. I did a craft.

Let's have a moment of silence.

I made mickey shirts. And supervised the painting of said shirts.

This is what we did:

First, I mixed flour and water - and poured it into a squeeze bottle. Then I made a spiral circle - and two spiral ears.

detail.jpg

I let those dry outside while I made a bunch more.

flourandwaterdrying.jpg

When they dried, Katie use fabric spray paint to. Ummm. Spray it. This one is for her friend Claire.

Katiespraying.jpg

She sprayed Claire's favorite colors - purple and black.

And then when all of that was dry, we peeled off the dried flour/water stuff.

And voila! A cool Mickey shirt.

Clairesshirt.jpg

My mom on the other hand. Did not want a willy-nilly spray. She wanted more of a controlled. Structured. Mickey spiral. So, she painted hers.

And here is her finished product.

Not too bad for a non-crafter!

We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow!!

We have been collecting grocery items to take down with us - so that our grocery trip will be less exhausting - and so that we might find the things we like for better prices.

suppliesforthetrip.jpg

We have all kinds of non-perishables set aside. And I have even cooked a few meals (baked Ziti and chicken tacos) that are frozen and ready to go with us.

On Sunday we are having the families of the girls that are coming with us over for a cookout. I have a list of things for them to be sure to pack - and then we need for them to do things like medical release forms (just in case).

Here are some of the things from our list: sunscreen for 2 weeks, goggles, hat/sunglasses, water shoes, clothes/toiletries, $$, backpack to take to the parks, snacks for the parks, dozen bottles of water, wii games, things to do in the car, pins/lanyards.

Also, a week from Sunday, my oldest daughter leaves for camp. So she'll be gone that whole week before we leave. She comes home on Friday - and we leave on Saturday. I am thinking that we will pack her for both camp and Disney at the same time.

My other quandary of late is our AP upgrade. We have 7 day tickets that we are going to use to upgrade - but I can't do that online or from home. I am kinda bummed about the price increase before I swap over to my APs!

So...can you think of anything else we might need the girls to bring? Any suggestions for a freezes easily meal that I can make before we go?

Thanks again for the detailed instructions for the shirts! ;)

I can't believe you just have 2 weeks left until your Year of Disney starts!

I think the only thing you didn't mention the girls might need would be autograph books... but are they even interested in those? If not, I think you've got everything covered!

And thanks, too, for reminding me about the ticket prices earlier. Glad we got those taken care of tonight!

Now I really am going to bed. Pinky swear.

It would be so fun if you and Angie come down and we do a shirt day! I have all the supplies - just bring yourselves and the shirts! It would be way fun!!

I am not sure if they are interested in autographs - but I will mention it. You would think that they might not even be interested in characters - but wait til I post day 2 of SeaWorld - and see who the girls DEMANDED to go see!

Thanks for getting your tickets through me - now whatever shall I do with my $17? ;)

Have a great time at the beach - post pictures!!

Packing!!!!! :woohoo: Getting exciting!!!

Tickets going up early this year, I saw it on Facebook last night so I hopped on this morning to order mine. Was going to wait till next billing cycle which is only a week a way, but what the heck.

I was really surprised to hear that they were raising the prices - and not waiting til August when they usually do it. I am hoping this means that they might go ahead and let us book 2012 packages soon.

We got a lot more stuff today for the trip to Sams. It's a good thing that we are going in 2 cars. I think that one will be for luggage and the other for food!

Tomorrow is our day to talk to the families of the girls that are going with us. We are having a big cookout - and tonight I made cupcakes for dessert.

We have established that I am no Martha Stewart. But, I thought my cupcakes turned out pretty cute. Until my youngest said they look like Mickey frownie faces.

My other trip planning "adventure" was that I finally got a point and shoot camera that is waterproof. I have a Canon dslr - but I wanted something small that I could stick in my purse. But also one that could go to the water parks. One I could give my husband to take on Splash mountain or Kali river rapids. And especially one that I could take to the parks if it is raining. We tried it out at the pool - and the pictures are pretty good. The darker ones were taken late in the day, and the others in full sun. Looks like it's going to be a great camera for a sunny day!

Love the cupcakes! And I love those tees you guys made as well. I am really not very crafty either unless I have very specific instructions, :rotfl:

I'm really going to look into a waterproof camera now, we are going to the beach next month and that would be great to have there!
