EpcotMan returns from his week of bliss

After short hiatus and people ribbing me to keep going with this trip report. I think it would be in the best interest of my health to pick it back up. So for day three we went to Typhoon Lagoon. Now, I must admit that I am not really a huge fan of the water parks but if I go to one this is the one I like best of the two. I guess it has more unique attractions than that of Blizzard Beach in my opinion. So here we go.

First off everyone else that I was with has at this point either bought their water park ticket or has a park hopper with the water park option. I have an AP but I don't have the premium because of what I stated in the previous paragraph. No big deal though because I would have to go to Typhoon Lagoon three times or go to each of the premium options at least once to make it worth it to buy the premium so I still come out ahead. So far. So I get to the ticket booth at Typhoon Lagoon and there is this guy in front of me that is trying to get his passes redeemed at the window and go to Typhoon Lagoon. Well, the guy speaks enough English to know what he is doing but apparently not enough to know that he didn't purchase a pass that includes the water parks. So while I am waiting behind this guy I didn't notice that the other window opens up to the left of me and this lady beats me to it and she is full of questions as well. Here I am knowing exactly what I want to do and I am at the mercy of ignorant tourist. A man with lesser patience would have contemplated murder suicide. Well, at least the lady's problem didn't take too long to solve and after a good thirty mins I have finally purchased my ticket to get in. I pass the guy who is now have his issue being explained to him in his native language and am off to the turnstiles.

First up we have something that I had not done yet at Typhoon Lagoon. The Crush N' Gusher. I am not really sure how long it has been there now but at this point I had not been to Typhoon Lagoon since 2002 so it was new to me. Tip: when they tell you to lay flat they mean flat. If you don't you are going to end up with a sore butt. I got to the bottom of the first hill and my bottom slammed down. To make matters worse after the ride was over I was getting out of the tube and scraped the top of my foot against the rather rough bottom of the pool. Is it just me or don't you think they could smooth all of that out just a little bit? Oh yeah, and there are three different slides you can take once you get to the top. Two you can do solo and I believe the other one is for two persons only for some reason. I went back and did the other solo one and this time I was a bit wiser concerning my sore right butt cheek. That may have been unnecessary to include but hey, its ME.

We leave from the Crush N' Gusher and head on over to the wave pool for a little while. Pretty much the only thing I learned at the wave pool was just how out of shape I am. lol I mean I thought I was doing pretty good but apparently I am not in the condition to be swimming out as far as they will let you and attempt to ride the wave in. No to mention my body must be too dense to ride it very far. And as far as the out of shape thing goes. I had to wait a couple of waves before trying it again.

After trying to drown myself I did just a little bit of people watching. Notice that there are people of all shapes and sizes at Disney. Some that are self conscious, some that are shameless, some that could make a good living as a plumber. Anyway so after that we went on the family raft ride and the other slides over to the left of the wave pool.(I forget the names) decide to take the lazy river from there down closer to where Humonga Cowabunga is. It doesn't compare to Summit Plummit over at Blizzard Beach but it is still fun.

I believe not long after this we decided to have lunch. Pretty much the only place to eat over there has your typical CS stuff. About the only eventful thing that happened at lunch was Heather narrowly escaped having a bird drop a deuce on her head. Literally could see it drop about six inches to her right.

After that we went back to the wave pool for a little while. I decide to try and see what happens when you try and stand up to one of the waves as it was coming in. I would say this was not successful. As the wave came crashing towards me my left calf muscle cramped up something furious. I had to limp back to words the beach and let my bro help me work it out. Good thing I was not out in the water above my head when it happened. Then again the lifeguard didn't look all that bad so maybe I should have been out there.

So after Typhoon Lagoon was done we went back to the hotel and rested for a moment. Heather, Robbie and Jett were going to the MNSSHP later that evening so they took a nap. I decided that I would call and see if I could get a ressie for Kona that evening. Well, the lady told me that the earliest I could get would be 9:00 and James and Laci didn't want to wait that long to eat. So, I convince them to just go on over anyway and see what we could do. We arrive at the Poly about 6:30. I ask how long it would be if we don't have a reservation and she said it would take about an hour. I went ahead and told her to put us down. I tell James and Laci how long it is going to be and James groans a bit but I told him it wouldn't be as long as they said. We ended up being seated by 7:15 which was about the time I was originally looking for in the first place. So folks if you don't get the ADR you are looking for you can most likely still walk up. You may have to wait a moment but it is possible. There are some that are impossible to get in on walk up but only a few. We each thought the meal was great. James and Laci were glad in the end that I was persistent on going. James had the Ginger Crusted Ribeye and said it was the best steak that he personally had ever had. Laci had the vegetarian version of the Pan Asian Noodles and she cleaned that plate except for the snap beans or whatever they were. I had the Miso Glaze Mahi Mahi and was just as excellent as before. For dessert James had the Banana Chocolate Creme Brulee and Laci and I each had the White Chocolate Cheesecake. The White Chocolate Cheesecake was good but it is hard to beat the Banana Chocolate Creme Brulee that James had. I know this was the best meal I had all trip and I am pretty sure that Laci and James agree with me as well. Well, that pretty much puts an end to this section of the Trip Report. I leave it now in the hand of my peers for scrutiny lol. I am sure that even though she wasn't there that chick will somehow find a way to put her spin on this day lol.

I've thoroughly enjoyed your Day Three of the trip report and thank you very much for sharing it with us. :) Sounds as if you had a fun time and hey, you didn't leave with any broken bones so what's more to ask for. I'm making a mental note ;) that if we don't have an ADR for a certain restaurant, to just go and ask. Can't wait for Day 4!

Hey EM I would agree on the restaurant thing - always worth a try. We did Tony's at an off time with no wait! It was delicious.

Write more!

Hey Man!!! I'm enjoying your report and can't wait for the next installment to be written. Sounds like you are having fun, but want to hear more about your hotel. Glad y'all got to eat at Kona, the food sounded wonderful!! Keep up the good work...

It's peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time. peanut butter jelly, peanut butter jelly, peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat. peanut butter jelly, peanut butter jelly, peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat.

Well, if you hadn't been wearing a speedo, you wouldn't have hurt your bum with that wedgie. Next time stop by and buy some trunks. Those are easier on the behind. :thumbsup2

I don't recall that Newby. Maybe you should have sent me an email of guidelines for me to ignore as well lol

For you to ignore??? Excuse you! See if I ever take my precious time to give you tips about a park again! And I do recall a request made for advice on that park and that email as well. If I had known you were going to ignore it I wouldn't have even bothered. Guess this proves yet one more reason for you being single. Or is it proof that you are male? Both, I believe. I am so charging you next time!

After short hiatus and people ribbing me to keep going with this trip report. I think it would be in the best interest of my health to pick it back up. Umm the best interest of your health? Someone threatening you to finish your trip report? What are they going to do? PM you to a bloody pulp? :surfweb: So for day three we went to Typhoon Lagoon. A man with lesser patience would have contemplated murder suicide. Well, at least the lady's problem didn't take too long to solve and after a good thirty mins I have finally purchased my ticket to get in. I pass the guy who is now have his issue being explained to him in his native language and am off to the turnstiles.

Oh EM, I know a bunch of the lifeguards over there. They do look hot don't they? Did you get the guy's name that you spotted that day? Maybe I can hook you two up? Oh I know! Maybe you could go to Basin together.

So after Typhoon Lagoon was done we went back to the hotel and rested for a moment. Heather, Robbie and Jett were going to the MNSSHP later that evening so they took a nap. Maybe one day I'll go over there for something besides breakfast. I don't know if I could go to Kona though knowing that I couldn't have my Tonga Toast.

Well, that pretty much puts an end to this section of the Trip Report. I leave it now in the hand of my peers for scrutiny lol. I am sure that even though she wasn't there that chick will somehow find a way to put her spin on this day lol.
Hold up now! Oh no you just didn't! What in the world would even make you say such a thing? I have no idea what you are even talking about! In case you forgot, I am the innocent one. And I know several people from the chat room that would gladly back me up on that. You, sir, are the one who twists EVERYTHING around that everyone else says. I would NEVER do such a thing! And why would i want to put my spin on a day at a water park anyways? I mean if I was going to comment on anything it surely wouldn't be a water park day. What a waste of time! I can't believe you would even say that I would do such a thing. You must not know me as well as you think. You assume too much. Hmm another reason maybe?

Well, if you hadn't been wearing a speedo, you wouldn't have hurt your bum with that wedgie. Next time stop by and buy some trunks. Those are easier on the behind. :thumbsup2

HAHAHA Love it CLR! How in the world did you come up with that one? :rolleyes1 I'm sure he fit right in around there with his mankini on though. I'm sure he probably blinded a few people as well. :cool2: :scared: EM, it's time to get rid of the banana hammock and get some swim trunks. Please, we are all begging you!

You know that is an awful long box with a lot of red writing in it for someone who says such things as you see above.

Today, we head to Epcot. At this point we have taken advantage I guess of the continental breakfast that was being served at our hotel pretty much every morning. I think this was the last day that would be the case. Let me think about it. Anyway, for a continental breakfast they had some decent stuff. Every morning available was sausage, eggs, danishes, cereal, and I believe there were some bagels. Odds are. Again not bad considering it was free.

Once we arrived at Epcot it was already a bit more crowded than normal for this time of year because it was EMH night hours at Epcot. This would be the first time the entire trip that I set foot in a WDW theme park. :sad2: You can bet this wouldn't have happened if I had my own vehicle. We approach the gate and I don't know why but it seems as though every time I could find a turnstile with no one going in. I don't know if people have tunnel vision when it comes to this sort of thing or what. So once inside we walk pass the graveyard.(don't you just want to leave your legacy on something that looks like a tombstone) and notice the Spaceship Earth is pretty much walk on so we go ahead and get on. I really like the new version of this attraction. Not only were the changes throughout good the ending is always fun. I always try to answer the questions to get something that I haven't had before. I wonder just how many combos there are?

So, after we leave Spaceship Earth we head toward Test Track because that is where Jett really wanted to go. At this hour the wait time was not anything I would consider terrible for Test Track. I think it said 30-40 mins. It was pretty accurate. I think we got on the ride a shade under the time advertised. Is it just me or does Test Track seem as though it is getting a little jerky compared to what it use to be. Back when it was brand new I don't remember it being quite as rough as it is now. Especially at the end after the big loop when you slow down. It feels like when someone quickly puts there foot on and off the brake in a car.

After Test Track we headed toward the Land for Soarin'. Now this is a bit different order than I would normally do or suggest for anyone, but I was kinda following for the moment. The only time I was going to step in was if someone was going to do something incredibly stupid planning wise. I was going with the flow. So we get to Soarin' and the wait time there says about 60 mins. So we try it and as we are going down the line just judging by where we caught up to the line I knew that was going to be a little off on the good side. If I am not mistaken it ended up being 45 mins. Still a while, but not too bad. Soarin' is just as good as always. Has anyone else ever noticed the bugs in the projector at times? I mean that in the literal sense. For those who have never tried it I also suggest doing this attraction barefoot. I usually wear flip flops/sandals and leave them on the ground during the attraction. Only way to fly lol

From here we head next door to The Seas with Nemo. I think this attraction is a change for the better overall. I mean there were certain parts of the original attraction that were a bit boring. The only thing I truly miss about the original is the music. After the ride part we hang out and look at some of the aquarium part and Jett, Heater, and Robbie decide to get in line for Turtle Talk. I thought about going in but I was watching some of the fish when the went in and missed it. So James, Laci, and I ended up waiting for them outside for a few mins. While waiting we decided to gets some Ice Cream from the cart nearby. I had the first of a couple of those sugar free strawberry ice cream bars. Those were quite good. Plus it was always easy to find and it was hot. lol

After Nemo we decided it was time for some lunch so we headed back to the land for Sunshine Seasons. I have said this numerous times before but this is one of the best CS on property if not THE best. You actually have some choices at this CS which is something that you don't find at most. I had the salmon with carrots and rice pilaf and had the strawberry cheesecake thing for dessert. Everything was good. I kinda wish I would have gone with the Creme Brulee instead but I managed to steal some of James'.

After lunch James and Robbie were going to head back to the room for a short nap before they went on over to the Wide World of Sports Complex for the beginning of the Men's Major softball tournament. This is their true purpose for coming to WDW in the first place.

So once James and Robbie have taken off. We decided to walk towards Journey into Imagination. As we were approaching Heather asked bout the attraction and I came to find out that the only thing she and Jett had done at the Pavillion before was Honey I shrunk the Audience. Therefore Lace and I took them on JII with figment. My personal feelings on this attraction is that it is better than the previous mistake and should never have been changed from the original in the first place. I guess they were trying to make up for it by placing "One little Spark" back in the attraction. Heather and Jett liked it ok but obviously it is not the most entertaining thing in the world.

Speaking of world. From there we went to World Showcase on the way in since we had Jett with us I suggested that maybe we try out the Kim Possible thing. For those that don't know what it is it is this scavenger hunt game that is played throughout world showcase. So we sign up or whatever at the entrance to world showcase and they tell us that we need to be at the both in Norway by a certain time. Since we had a about thirty mins or so we decided to go in Mexico and try out the new Grand Fiesta Tour starring The Three Caballeros. This attraction is ok. I mean the only thing I really liked about "Mexican Small World" before was the song. Not sure if this will be a popular enough of a change to stay for a while or not. Something is wrong with the universe if it doesn't outlive Stitch's Great Escape. Ok that is a bit off topic. After the short detour we continue on our way to Norway for the Kim Possible adventure. After getting started with this I am thinking that this game is not going to keep Jett's attention at all. It seems like it is more for a bit older kids. As a matter of fact I saw some older couple playing it. Needless to say we were ready to give it up after the first mission. So we did. I am a bit curious to find out just what else there is to the game. Perhaps I shall try it myself next time. We didn't spend a whole lot of time in World Showcase. I think we walked about to Italy before taking the boat back across.

After we rode back across to the entrance to Future World Laci and I went to Mission Space. Jett might would have done this. I know that Heather can't handle it because of the spinning. This girl's equilibrium must be off or something because she gets messed up just from the spinning of the Astro Orbiter. Laci and I being the astronauts that we are take on Orange with no problem. I really believe that this is my new fav at Epcot. I was debating at first between this and Soarin' but this one wins out because of the adventurous part I believe.

After short break at hour hotel we came to the decision that dinner would be somewhere in Downtown Disney. Heather had received a preferred guest card or something like for a free appetizer of spinach dip at Planet Hollywood so we decided to go there. Also I could get and AP discount here. As it turns out we can't get both the appetizer and the AP discount together so we went with the free spinach dip since the price difference between that and the ten percent with AP was would have been about the same when I was said and done. They seated us in this place almost like a little house. We were all to ourselves. I decided to go with the chicken alfredo. It was quite good. I have had better before, but it was still good quality and a lot of it. I don't remember it but I am pretty sure that Laci had whatever the vegetarian choice was and Heather had a burger. Jett got the kids pizza. For a kid's pizza this was larger than the average personal pan pizza. Needless to say there was a lot left over for him to eat at a later date.

After dinner we decided to stroll through Downtown Disney for a little while. I eventually made my way to World of Disney where I easily found BEAN. For anyone reading this that may not know Bean is one of the regular visitors in the chat room. Well, she used to be before she started working for Disney. She still checks in a good bit. So I hung out and talked to Bean for a little bit. She tells me that I was her second DISer she has met. She met Jan a little earlier in the week. I guess I should also mention that it was at this time when the light bulb went off. I had totally forgotten that I was going to meet Jan myself at Yee Haw Bob at oh right about that time. Being at the mercy of transportation I couldn't jet off right then so I eventually talked to Jan an apologized for standing her up lol. Well, I talked to Bean for a bit before this crazy hard to please lady came around and was taking up her time so I decided that I would leave the insanity behind and talk to Bean a little later. So I catch up with Laci, Heather, and Jett and we go to the Gharadelli's place in DTD. This place is awesome. I had The Gold Rush. The Gold Rush is a peanut butter hot fudge sundae with hot fudge and melted peanut butter throughout and is topped with whipped cream and roasted peanut halves. It was the next best thing to the No Way Jose that I have had and I would definitely go there again. Did I mention that AP discount works here too? Another good reason to go.

So we wander around DTD for a bit and Laci points out that the Trading Pins says it has a ten year pins. Which is significant only because ten years prior was also the first time that we took her to WDW. We came to the conclusion that she somehow started this fad even though she doesn't give a crap about trading pins.

Well, I believe that does it for day four. All we did after that was go back to the hotel and do not much until bed time. This would be the last quiet evening one could experience at the hotel. Details shall be in the next update. See ya next time.

Somehow I totally left it out. It is there now. I will spare you the anguish of having to go back and find it and tell you that it was Planet Hollywood. ;)

Sounds like a fun day and yummy food. You know, I didn't realize that Sunshine Seasons was a CS place. I will definitely have to fit that in for my next trip. :goodvibes

Another update!!!!:banana: Sounds as if you had a busy and fun day. I can't wait to try the strawberry shortcake at SS myself!!!!

Wow Man, you have introduced me to several new things in this post. I didn't know you could get sugar free strawberry ice cream AND I didn't know that the Seasons CS had such good sounding food! You keep writing and I will have a bunch of new things to try in Dec. Thanx a bunch!!!! It sounds like you had a lot of fun and so good to see Bean, we will stop by her too. "Patiently" awaiting the next installment...... ahem......

Every morning available was sausage, eggs, danishes, cereal, and I believe there were some bagels. Odds are. Again not bad considering it was free. Free is always nice. I wish Disney had some freebies I could use. When you're CEO you need to make sure they have freebies for people like me. And no I don't mean the ones I already get. Be creative and come up with something good.

Once we arrived at Epcot it was already a bit more crowded than normal for this time of year because it was EMH night hours at Epcot. This would be the first time the entire trip that I set foot in a WDW theme park. :sad2: You can bet this wouldn't have happened if I had my own vehicle. You know you are such a whiner!

Now granted it was your brother's food but next thing you know you're gonna be offering some chick that you basically just met to share some of your slurpee or something.

Lace and I took them on JII with figment. My personal feelings on this attraction is that it is better than the previous mistake and should never have been changed from the original in the first place. Uh yeah who's idea was it to change it in the first place anyway? Why mess with a classic? I guess they were trying to make up for it by placing "One little Spark" back in the attraction. Heather and Jett liked it ok but obviously it is not the most entertaining thing in the world.

After getting started with this I am thinking that this game is not going to keep Jett's attention at all. It seems like it is more for a bit older kids. Yep could have told you that. You should have made a mask. That is better suited for kids that age.

I guess I should also mention that it was at this time when the light bulb went off. I had totally forgotten that I was going to meet Jan myself at Yee Haw Bob at oh right about that time. Shame on you! I know your mama taught you better than that!

Not bad. Although I am sensing a lack of drama. I mean come on, this is a family vacation. Family vacations always include some sort of drama. Four days together and no one is getting into a "discussion" as to what to do next, no couple is fighting over whether or not buying the child "just one more" toy would be too much, no children (or adults) are whining about how hot it is and driving everyone absolutely nuts??? And I mean besides you and the car issue. Are you holding out on us? What REALLY happened?

There is only one person on this trip that I am related to by blood chick and the other I am related to by marriage. I don't think this qualifies as a family vacation. My brother and I had a couple of rather ugly arguments in the days leading up to now. I felt it best to leave those out. Especially since I can't remember what they were about in the first place.

Oh trust me it still qualifies. And if you can't remember what the arguments were about then you must not have won.

How about they were just that petty and stupid. Much like this banter.
