OK, we've never really "done" the world showcase and I keep reading all kinds of neat things there. When we've gone all we see are restaurants and shops. What are we missing? I read reports of characters and shows and bands and all kinds of neat things, including some secret church and baseball museum(?)
My DH isn't all that thrilled to go back but I keep telling him there must be more to it then we know about.
So....tell me what we don't know! LOL

there's so much - i know that you'll be getting a lot of responses so i'll give you the best of what we like -

canada - off kilter - it's a fantastic celtic rock band - they are even so good that we have bought their cd's and try to visit the irish festivals they play at - and the circle vision movie is great

united kingdom - the street theatre - it's hysterical - and for all ages - my kids love watching it - and my brother saw for the first time this year and was really impressed - and of course the british invasion - great beatles songs along w/other british songs -

i know that others will give you other countries - but we spend an entire day in these two countries - going back and forth between the two - and if you like to engage in a nice beverage - you can sample the best of the uk & canada and relax while you take in the shows

Pretty much every pavilion has some sort of show outside. When you get into Epcot, pick up both the map brochure AND the Times Guide. The times guide will show you what is going on and when for the outside entertainment.

A British invasion band plays Beatles songs. Off Kilter performs in Canada. Mo Rockin performs in Morocco.

The American pavilionhas the fife and drums plus the song groups Vibe and Sons of Liberty

Acrobats perform in France and China.

Italy(?) has a show that has audience participation.

The baseball museum is/was in Japan. Even if it is still there, it will not be in the times guide. Most of the items were donated by individuals from their personal collection so I am not sure how long it is there.

Have you done the boat rides in Mexico and Norway?
The show in the American Pavilion?
Movies in Canada and China?

The church you are referring to is in Norway. You walk right by it - it is the wooden building, but many people don't realize they can actually go in. It has many pictures and history of the stave churches in Scandianvia. Neat.

If you like Japanese food, I highly recommend that you get a PS for Teppanyaki in Japan. The food is wonderful and the chefs cook right at your table. It is really good!

Depending on when you are going, you can hit the Food and Wine festival, the Flower and Garden festival, the Flower Power concerts, or in the winter, the Candlelight Processional. There is always something to do at the WS.

Mexico - El Rio del Tiempo (River of time) boat ride through Mexico from past to present. Exhibit on animals carved from wood in the lobby.

China - 360 degree film about China and acrobats.

Norway - Boat ride and movie about Norway. Stave church and viking ship play area.

Germany - watch the clock strike the hours. (Germany was actually built to house a bot ride boat was never developed.)

Italy - Living Statues

American Adventure - 35 minute show; a must see. Features a walking Ben Franklin.

Japan - museum and Mitsukoshi store

Morrocco - admire the architecture

France - 360 degree film about France. GO TO THE PASTRY SHOP!

England - street performers and the gardens.

Canada - gardens outside of Le Cellier, 360 degree movie.

Also, the four Buckingham guards that do a little Keystone Kop slapstick comedy routine (did that give away my age;) ).

We missed them last year, but saw them in 2002. I am still amazed you could get four people in the phone booth at the Rose and Crown.:D

We love WS, there is just so much to do & the atmosphere is wonderful. You can find out about the entertainment that is at the pavilions now at: http//pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/index.htm

The site is updated weekly & includes links for the various acts in the parks. Don't miss the Living Statues--always very entertaining.

Follow the link in my signature and download the DIS-ney Secrets doc. It has a separate section on World Showcase (pages 20-23 out of 28).

BTW I wasn't excited about EPCOT the first time I went there. The main entrance and buildings made me think of a bad Brady bunch movie set. Last summer was my third time there. I was determined not to pass on an attitude to the whole group (35 of our closest friends and family) so I went out of my way to get all kinds of info, all the shows and times, all the attractions etc, then I brought the group in through the international entrance via the boat launch from Studios (We did early opening there for a couple of quick RnRC and ToT rides). WHAT A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE. My 17 year old son, visiting EPCOT for the first time, absolutely loves the place. All the Mom's and Dad's that were first timers talk more about the EPCOT park thatn any of the others. I guess I overdid it :), but they had a great time and were busy the entire day.

We spend more time in World Showcase every time we go. We all -- two adults, two teens and a 9-year-old -- really like it. I work in the arts, and some of the street/country entertainers are absolutely top notch. My personal favorites are Imaginum (living statues) in Italy, Le Mime Roland and A Chair Act in France, Muyuki (candy sculptor) in Japan and Off Kilter in Canada. If you are at all into choral/acapella music, there are two wonderful groups in America -- my dh would like to see Voices of Liberty every day.
