Has anyone else on the DisBoards been an honorary World Showcase Player?

In October I was selected to portray Sir Galahad in their version of the King Arthur legend (in England on the World Showcase). It was so much fun, and I hope to do it again next time we're there. I am not an especially 'hammy' person, but it's very easy to get into the spirit of things. After the performance, we took my family's photo with the real WC Players, and they gave me a groovy WC Players button (which is now a permanent part of my WDW touring hat).

I don't remember ever reading a thread about it. I will say if you are lucky enough to 1) watch a performance or 2) be a performer, it WILL be the highlight of your day at EPCOT for your entire family. We still talk about it 2+ months later.

Same group of "improv" CM comedians (there are several who "rotate appearances") perform at UK and FRANCE in Epcot.

As they say, "Same silly SHOW, different silly ACCENTS."
(Or sometimes, "Same silly SHOW, different silly TOURISTS.")

We ALWAYS make it a point to see these shows when at Epcot (I put it on my itinerary every day we are there.)
I love how even the "same show" changes because there will be different guests used in each show.

Each show only lasts about 15 minutes and takes place out-in-the-open on the sidewalk area between the buildings.

I agree that its very good fun for guests "drafted" into the show AND for those who get to LAUGH at 'em!!

My dad was King Arthur on our trip in 1999. We had a blast watching him and the others in the cast. When I went with my husband in 2004, I was hoping that he'd be selected to participate. He wasn't, but we sure had a fun time watching those who were.

This is one of my "don't miss" attractions at Epcot.

I've never been lucky enough to be chosen but we watch the show whenever we can catch it. It's always hysterical and different each time due to the guests.

Yep, I'm a World Showcase Player also. I played the role of Romeo in a production of Romeo & Harriet (Couldn't be Juliet as she was in a different union the players explained) in June 2005. It was very embarrassing and fun at the same time for me. My Harriet was from Romainia and did not speak English. What a hoot. I got shanghied into the play in Italy. They announced they wanted a young, tall, good looking guy with a full head of hair for the part but chose me, early 50's, short and balding. :rotfl:

You lucky people! And thanks for all the WS Players-it's been so much fun watching the performances. I never miss it when I'm in Epcot. However, maybe it's because I'm usually solo there, I've never been fortunate enough to be chosen. I can imagine it must be an unforgettable experience.

We got lucky enough to catch this on our trip this week! I got so involved in the show (my kids loved it too!) that they asked me to scream and I had no idea at all that they were talking to me! I kept waiting for someone behind me to scream and when no one did, I was mortified that they had been talking to me the entire time! My face was beet red. It was a great show and my kids (ages 2-7) LOVED it and still talk about dusting each other off with their hats. :earsboy:
