Epcot without Soarin...will anyone bother

When I think of EPCOT and Future World I do not think of Soarin. The park holds many other attractions that brings us back.

I'd love to know which attractions people like to do over in Future World. We like Spaceship Earth and spending time at the Living Seas aquariums but beyond that I got nothing.

Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Living With the Land, Living Seas, Club Cool, the fountain show, (sometimes Ellen, not brave enough for Mission Space) make it a morning for us at EPCOT, even without Soarin'. World Showcase is saved for evenings :) as we parkhop every day.
Unless you have motion sickness, there is always the "Green" side of Mission Space, which is nothing more then a simulator like Star Tours. No really jerky moves, just tilt forward and backward like the other simulators. No courage necessary.

Epcot is always a two day adventure. Not the whole day mind you, but, one day I will go to Future World in the Morning and the next day, or so, I will do World Showcase in the afternoon (or flip that). I always park hop so I usually fill the rest of the half days either at DHS or MK.

If we didn't have an AP or couldn't hop we would not go to Epcot at all. If we are doing a rope drop at epcot its TT, Soarin, Nemo 3-4x:sick: , crush, figment, mission space, maybe one country & see a unique character at 11, and then out. If we do an evening (like after AK closes) its one country's pavilion, a dinner and illuminations.

We like some of the restaurants, illuminations, test track, soarin, nemo for my daughter and thats really it. We've felt a lot of the attractions are like being in a lecture hall, either for the environment (future world) or for a promo to visit a country. World showcase is nice to walk through but its not for us to spend the day in at this point, if we run into a performer that is nice but we aren't seeking them out and last trip it was DD "I want to go on something". lol

I can't wait for the new Soarin' Around the World and the new projection system with no more dust bunnies!

I've been in love with Epcot since the opening month of October '82.

I love Soarin' (and hoping it will be back up when we go in August) but if it isn't? Still planning two days at Epcot. Love Test Track, Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, Living with the Land, the character meet, World Showcase (looking forward to trying to new Frozen ride) and Illuminations. Plenty to keep me busy. DH and I both love the atmosphere at the park (and are neither shoppers or serious drinkers. I generally do WDW without any alcohol because the prices are so high).

Have you ever tried Sum of all Thrills? It's one of my family's favourite rides.
Plus TT, MS, LWTL, and Figment. We do Ellen every other year.

Plus my kids love Club Cool, shopping at Mousegears, and eating at SS.

Test Track?

Can't believe I forgot to mention Figment in the list of what we do in Future World, my daughter will smack me one for that! It's her favorite :) Mission Space - I'm worried about my claustrophobia.

At $100+ pp when my favorite ride is down and my kids favorite is gone- nope not going to bother on this next trip. Epcot has always been one of our favorites, we have been many many times-so I'm ok with skipping it.

We aren't skipping it, BUT we usually commit 2 mornings to EP (+ evenings for WS) during week long trips. Our trip in 2 weeks will only have 1 morning at EP now.

I love EP, always have. But realistically, with Soarin closed, the Imagination pavilion in less than great shape and Innoventions not really being at the level it was in the past, there are some holes in FW. They really should get something going in the Wonders of Life pavilion.

We love Epcot and Soarin while fun was not top of our list. I love Living with the Land and Test Track much more!

I have no problem skipping Soarin because of the line. I actually love to go on Spaceship Earth, smell the fire, make my future. Then go see whats growing in Living with the Land, eat at Sunshine Seasons, head to the Seas and sing "In the biiiiiiiiiiig blueeeeeeeee world", head over to Test Track for a spin around the course. If its nap time, then we go see on an adventure with Ellen. and then start to get cultured by walking around the world. I never feel that I missed out on anything because soarin is closed/too long of a wait, etc.

We have taken 5 trips to WDW and have only done Soarin on 2 of the trips.....Epcot is our fave park, we love the atmosphere and the World Showcase. My 7 yr old loves Spaceship Earth and The Land....he learns a lot from those rides especially.

You went to epcot while it was open? I go to epcot every trip but I really don't get the love some have for it.

Have a grapefruit beer in Germany, and your mind might clear enough to see why people love Epcot.

If that doesn't open your eyes, have a Gran Mariner Slushie over in France.

If that doesn't bring about any revelations, head on over to Japan for...I think you get the drift :)

Now that DW no longer goes with us to WDW EPCOT is a one day park. Now with Soarin out of commission it is only a half day park. Seeing as the non-MK parks are basically half day parks, Disney should allow people to park hop between them without paying for park hoppers tix.

I think the rest of FW will actually be more busy. Without Soarin, The Land may be something of a ghost town. People may not make a trip for Living with the Land, Sunshine Seasons, Circle of Life. Some will, but many may not. But those people will still spend time in other parts of FW. I think lines/crowds for other FW attractions may be even longer than usual, especially once Frozen ride opens and people are trying to make a whole day of the park with kids who don't care about the WS so much.

So a serious question..for all that are saying we will just not go to epcot or now it's only half day, etc. without Soarin being open, what did you do when Soarin was open? Get a FP and then when you got off get in the standby line and ride again, then get off, get in standby line and ride again, and just keep repeating this? Just curious as to what the mindset is to one 2 minute ride being closed? :confused3

Yep we will bother. We love Epcot. We spent nearly half our time there in a week long trip last summer. Soarin' is a cool ride, but there's a ton to do at Epcot without it. WS was probably DD's favorite part of Disney (she was 5 last trip) and she's already talking about getting her passport again!
