Epcot will expand dining options

The expanded Mexican eatery will pull double duty: Previously a counter-service restaurant selling quick meals such as tacos and burritos, it will remain a quick-service facility during the day. But each evening, the indoor portion — about 250 of its 400 seats — will be converted into a more-expensive, sit-down restaurant.

This is the really interesting portion of this article.

Thank you for this link CR Resort Fan 4 Life! Very interesting! The concept of the restaurant going from QS during the day to TS at night is intriguing. I wish they would keep the eateries open til 10 pm every night!

Interesting...

But what I find maddening is that there are already so MANY good choices of places to eat at Epcot.

Why can't they "fix" the dining black hole at DHS? Ugh. I HATE eating there!

amen!

I really hope they will serve real pizza. My DD always wants pizza but I cant stand that microwave crud you get all over WDW.

Interesting that they expect a jump in attendance this year. Could be bad news for those of us waiting for deals!

I liked this part:
"It will be the first “flex” restaurant in Epcot and will serve as a precursor to an even larger facility slated to use the same approach: the Beauty and the Beast-themed “Be Our Guest” restaurant that will be part of the broad Fantasyland expansion under way in Disney’s Magic Kingdom park."

It will probably be mobbed like CRT since it's in Fantasyland, and I assume they are building it to try and alleviate the crowds at CRT, but at least it does add another TS option.

I am looking forward to the refurbed Cantina though....I'm so glad it will be open by the time we get there in October!

Although I 100% agree with the PP's discussing the dining options at DHS. I like Mama Melroses...I really do! I've eaten there twice and had a great experience both times. However, the food at Sci-Fi took a turn for the worse sometime between 2004 and 2007 (loved it in '04, had a less than memorable time in '07). 50's Prime Time just doesn't appeal to us.

My BIL participated in the CP and worked at H & V for 6 months and he said the food is great but I've heard so many terrible reviews that I'm afraid to eat there!

Ooooooh! So exciting! I have a feeling that new Mexican restaurant is going to impossible to get an ADR for anytime after 7pm with the prospect of an Illuminations viewing. We often had dinner at the old CS location to get a bench against the lake for Illuminations.

Wow - both look great. And I guess I'll have to give Mexico another try. Let see - dinner reservations at 8:00 for Illuminations at 9:00.
