Epcot vs Universal

Universal. We stay on-site there to take advantage of the express pass. It actually works too well. You can get on so many roller coasters and other rides my motion sickness kicks into overdrive.

I'll be the solo here, and say EPCOT.

At some point we'll visit The dark side with the kids, but quite honestly I'd never tour WDW and not visit all 4 parks...Unless of course I/we only had a day or 2 to spend..:confused3...

I agree. I would never choose a Universal park over any park at Disney.

But it depends on your family and what you're looking for. I can see some teens loving Universal instead or those who don't care about being immersed in theming. Personally I find Epcot to be one of the most interesting parks of the 4.

The Harry Potter theming is some of the best.

I'm not trying to turn anything into a Disney vs Universal because both are awesome, but the Harry Potter sections alone are IMO worth a trip in itself.

For those that haven't been to universal/ioa, it's a great trip to see another park. And it's not just a teen park, there's tons for the whole family

For HP fans (and I'm one) yes, it's worth it just for the two HP lands, and the Hogwarts Express. But not everyone is a HP fan, and the OP has little kids who may be too young to be HP fans, too short to ride a lot of the attractions for the high cost of park hopping tickets for a day.

Universal 100%, we would choose that over Epcot with or without children

That doesn't answer the OP's question at all, does it? They have children! What if the kids are too small to enjoy most of the attractions there?
I'm sure that they can determine that. Some report that even their small children had a great time at Universal. There are certainly plenty of kids in the parks when we go. But of course YMMV.

I apologise for offering an alternative view. :rolleyes2
I'll reword - UNIVERSAL is better than Epcot if you have children or not, there is plenty for them to enjoy and a lot for adults too.

There's more things to do in universal for young kids vs Epcot.

I'd say it would be opposite, if you have young/short kids then they'd be too small to enjoy most of the attractions at epcot

Here's my scorecard:
If you have young kids-Universal wins.
If you have tweens-Universal win.
If you have teens-Universal wins.
If you have no kids-The parks are so vastly different in focus that there can never be a winner. Personal preference will dictate the outcome.

But of course, finances will come into play. A single day jaunt up I-4 is expensive.

Definitely Universal. Stay at a hotel that gives you the unlimited express pass and get the park to park ticket so you can go on the train from park to park. It does cost a bundle but especially when the crowds are coming in for Christmas, it is well worth it.

Right, but you just said it.....You don't have kids......They have 2 little ones....a lot of theming is lost on them, and a lot of the rides they may not make the height req. Yes there is a ton of over stuff there, but to each his/her own. It's a lot of EXTRA $$ to spend on only some parts of that park, as opposed to adding an extra day at Disney...:confused3
That's just my$.02

Wow...This seems like a clear 12 round Split decision...LoL:teeth:

Another vote for Universal if you can swing it. There's a breakfast with the Grinch that was, hands down, the most interactive character meal we've ever done.

OP, you know your kids and what they like to do. Only you can decide which park is the right choice for you. Personally, I have visited Universal's parks a few times and find them lacking because I am not a thrill ride or Potter fan. Not saying it's a bad product. It's just not for me. Epcot, even in its current state is my favorite Disney park (followed closely by MK) so my personal choice would be Epcot.

OP, I know you already made your decision and I think it's a good one based on your kids interests and previous enjoyment of Universal Hollywood.

I do think you should consider Epcot in the future. While it is not your traditional kid focused theme park, days there can be enjoyable for kids, despite what many others say. I once was one of those kids who fell in love with Epcot at a young age. I have two little ones (2 and almost 1) and won't spend as much time at Epcot right now. Two half days planned for our upcoming trip. With just our first child we did the same amount of time.

While I think Universal is the right call for you on this trip (even though I don't like Universal :) ) I strongly vote for you to visit Epcot in the future!
