Is the boat the fastest way to get from World Showcase area to MGM? How long a walk is it? I assume going by boat or walking is faster than going back out to the buses. Can anyone give me an idea of travel time? I don't really have a sense of how far apart they are. Also, do you come out at the main MGM entrance, or a side entrance? THanks!

The boat is about 20 minutes, it stops at the boardwalk, then the Yacht club, then the swan/dolphin, the walk is about the same amount of time.

From Epcot to MGM with stops at Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Club and Swan/Dolphin takes a while. I want to say 25 minutes but I may be off. It's a wonderful relaxing way to travel from one park to another. You can probably walk it faster but unless you're there in cooler weather I would suggest taking the Friendship boat. The stops at the resorts don't take all that much time.

boat goes from epcot to bwi to yc/bc, if you miss the boat and can see it, walk to yc/bc. five minute walk and saves you waiting for the next boat.

I do not think there is a bus from the Epcot main entrance to the Studios, but I am not sure. I agree with everyone else that the boat takes about the same time as walking. Since you do so much walking at WDW the boat is a nice and relaxing ride. As for your other question, there is only one entrance for the Disney Studios. Whether you walk, drive, boat or bus, everyone uses the same entrance.

Can anyone confirm this? If there is a bus, which would be quicker: bus or boat? Thanks!

Actually, there is a bus that runs between the main entrance of Epcot to the Studios. If you are in the Future World portion of Epcot when you wish to go over to the Studios, then that way is quicker than the boat/walk.

If you are in World Showcase when you wish to head over to the Studios, then taking the boat/walkway is quicker.

For me, walking is quicker. I can go between Epcot and the Studios in about 15-20 minutes.

The boat ride from Epcot to the Studios is about 25 minutes, but that doesn't include waiting time. So if there is not a boat sitting at the dock that you can walk right onto, then walking is most definitely quicker.

I'd rather walk it as the fumes and motion from the boats made me green...did not care for the boat experience at all and also did not see that it saved any significant time. Too many stops.

Is it one boat that goes from Epcot to MGM or do you have to change boats at one of the resorts? I was under the impression it was two routes between the resorts and MGM or Epcot. It sound like I was wrong about that. :confused3
As you can see we always walked, but my sister is going with a bad back so she was real interested in the boats.

Generally speaking...the boats run the course of WS (Intl Gateway) BW, YC/BV, S/D then MGM. Then it is reversed going back. You are left at a dock that is off and over to the side of the main entrance to MGM.
If you walk, it is about 20-25 minutes depending on your pace. My family usually does it in just under 20 minutes..maybe 17-18. But we have long legs, even the 12 y/o!!!
So, should you take the boat or walk....well, if there is a boat loading the the Gateway and you can get on it, then do that. If there isn't a boat in sight, just walk to the resorts and see if there are any there. Only problem with doing this is, unless you are sure where the boat is coming from, and then going to..you could head to a boat that is going to where you just came from!! If I miss the boat at Epcot, I just walk to MGM. Unless it's very hot/humid. A lot of the walk, after BW, is out in the open and can get pretty steamy. The pathway is very nice, and well lit. It runs along the parking lot area and on into MGM (The Studios).
It's always one of those 'make up your mind as you go' things for us.

No, there is just one route: Epcot>BW>Y&BC>S/D>MGM>S/D>Y&BC/BW/Epcot. There is usually more than one boat operating though.

I agree with clkelly's advice.

Thanks for all the help! My daughter and I will be touring WS for a little while one morning while DH and DS are golfing. We are to meet up with them after lunch at MGM, so we may try the boat.

take the boat and relax, much more fun than walking. We walked it and I thought it was pretty far, besides we do enough walking when at disney. The walk was probably about 15-20 minutes and we were walking fast.

It takes me 15-20 minutes to walk from the Swan/Dolphin to MGM...so add another 5-10 minutes if starting out at Epcot.

I'll be going between the two in Dec. and I think I'm going to take the boat to the Boardwalk and walk the rest of the way to the Studios. It's the 1st stop, and you'll have to be on this side of the lake to walk all the way to the Studios. I like the boat but the whole ride can be long waiting for everyone to board...
