Am I the only one who thinks Illuminations was better when sponsored by GE?

Isn't it odd that an entire resort complex based on "Imagineering" has a pavilion called "IMAGINATION" with Figment -- which is a weak, unattended attraction?

;) I remember waiting in line for 45 minutes to ride Journey Into Imagination before they refurbed it. I liked it better before.

I do agree that the illuminations from way back was better... it's a personal preference. :)
As with Imagination... I miss the OLD one. I used to love that ride and the dreamweaver and think that both the "re-vamps" kinda suck. But I keep my hopes up that it will be fixed sometime. :)
My latest peever is the living seas... I'm going to miss the little movie... "and it rained and rain and rained....the deluge"

Dream Weaver = Gary Wright

" Ooh dream weaver
I believe you can get me through the night"

Dreamfinder = Figment's Pal

"One Little Spark (whistle) lights up for you"

I was going to correct the previous poster, but didn't want to be nit picky....how funny the way you did it, made me laugh.... :rotfl2: It is funny how you could wait 45 minutes with the old attraction. Since they changed it, I have YET to wait for that ride, always a walk on, and how sad, because Figment is cool, but that guy from Monty Python ( think that's where he's from? ) just doesn't fit to me....

I love Figment, just because I think he's adorable. But the ride really does need some more imagination to it....I was talking about that last week with DH. They really need to redo the whole imagination section - it has potential to be great.

For all those die hard EPCOT fans, I'll don the flame suit but....

while I like EPCOT, I think it is way out of date. Look at the geosphere for example...in the future teachers will be communicating by video link. In my school here in the UK we have a teachign programme via video link. Wake up imagineers and rethink the future.

i remember thinking imagination was great before( well not capt. eo, yikes that was scary :rotfl: ) and being really disappointed last trip..it reminded me of a cheapo carnival fun house..don't know why they changed it :confused3

what's different about illuminations? are there less fireworks? i thought it was different but thought maybe i was just remembering it wrong or something

sorry i think they should have left world of motion alone to..maybe update it but i liked it better than TT by far

my fav. at epcot is and will always be ws at night...epecially sitting at a table outside the french bakery, just enjoying the evening air and a yummy dessert ( and my hubby, can't leave him out of the equation) and i'm really glad they are bringing the sea cabs back even if they will be clam shells.. what about the "elevators"...anyone know if they will be part of the new nemo thing at living seas?

This is the USA - we're always a few years behind you guys ;) (Although I, too, have taken online classes like 5 years ago).

But you hit on the major problem Disney had with Epcot - it becoming outdated too quickly. This is why many of the original rides have been replaced with ones that are more "timeless" - in some cases not so successfully.
Most of Spaceship Earth is still great, but the "return to earth" part is in dire need of updating. I do hope that the Time Racers concept is dead - while I think that WDW needs more thrill rides, and especially roller coasters, I don't think that should come at the expense of well-imagineered, family friendly dark rides. Now that SSE has a new sponsor, they may have the funds to update the "present/future" segment in time for the park's 25th anniversary.

I also generally agree that the entire Imagination pavilion's inside could use a healthy dose of re-imagineering. Same with the Universe of Energy, which is full of factual errors and is way too biased in favor of its original sponsors (though I LOVE the ride-through portion of it - one of my favorite dark ride segments at WDW).

Well its settled then . . . . .

If there are any Disney VP's reading this board, there are about 9 "consultants" here who will help re-do IMAGINATION.

:cool1:

LOL do the 'consultants' get paid consultancy prices. Or free trips to WDW will do instead!! :thumbsup2

Things that make you say HMMM in EPCOT::

How about Universe of Energy and Test Track

At Universe of Energy you learn about how fossil fuels need to be conserved

then over at test track we are supposed to be test driving hundreds of new cars (which use fossil fuel)

However, Test Track is a lot more fun than Universe of Energy.

I'll second that motion. :sunny:

(I need to either make more money or cut my Disney trip expenses!)

Epcot . . . . . hmmmmmmmm

Isn't there anyone from the actual Japanese Dept of Tourism who can help this pavillion? A museum of tin toys? . . . . really?

Japan has the bullet train and some of the best electronic innovations in the world. The pavillion shows tin toys?? :surfweb:

I love Figment :rolleyes1 ! I do agree with the posters saying it was better before the refurb....but we still love it nonetheless :confused3

I was at the pub, waitin’ for the fireworks
Drinkin’ beer, I had a yard or more
I heard a voice, said that GE
Would put on a show in just ten minutes more
I thought, oh yeah, the point of my visit
I kept on saying, how much longer is it?
The show had fire, and a big ball
That looked like a globe, they showed pictures on it and all
I watched the show, thought it was great
It was worth paying that much at the gate
But five years have passed and I believe this show
Just isn’t as good, get it? No! Yup!
GE lost control, who’s paying the bills?
I can’t find out, I even asked Deb Wills
They don’t seem to have as much smoke and boom
Is this Epcot?

Things that make you go hmm
Things that make you go hmm
Things that make you go hmm
Things that make you go hmm, hmm, hmm
Things that make you go hmm

A long time ago
There was an attraction that had imagination and life and action
No longer there, gone who knows where
What’s left behind?
There was a purple guy with wings
Who had you imagining all sorts of things
He had a friend, who liked to pretend
He’s called Dreamfinder and he was the end
So what happened later we can’t comprehend
One year Dreamfinder disappeared
Away went the purple guy, that was just weird
They put in some Brit who did nothing but talk
That wasn’t enough, the crowds started to balk
They didn’t like that, they wanted purple dude back
They put him back in but left it on the same track
Don’t they know that idea’s bound for doom?

The things that make you go hmm
Things that make you go hmm
The things that make you go hmm, hmm, hmm
The things that make you go hmm
Things that make you go hmm
The things that make you go hmm.

Mickey Mouse - break it down!

Give it to me Give it to me Give it to me Give it to me
Give it to me Give it to me

LOL, great thread! My hubby has one.....he said he always thought it was a bit "hmmmmmmmm" that there is a lovely seafood restaurant.....in the aquarium?!?! Hmmmmmmmmmm..... :rotfl2:
