Epcot Takeout

Is it possible to order meals from one of the Epcot restaurants and pick it up? I've never seen anyone do this. I'm staying at the Boardwalk with little kids and I'd rather eat in our room, but I don't want to miss the good restaurants.

No, the TS restaurants don't do takeout. You can get room service at the Boardwalk though.

I don't see why you couldn't do take out under one condition-make an ADR at the TS resturaunt. Then when you arrive, say that you need to get the meal to go This wouldn't cause any extra meals above what the kitchen was planning to make. But just to walk up to a TS resturant that's already booked, I don't see how the kitchen could make the extra meals. But I'm sure that people make ADRs, then someone gets sick, falls asleep, etc. sometimes necessitating the well person to take their meal back to the hotel.

Table service restaurants at WDW are not equipped with the supplies necessary for take-out. If you want a take away meal, you would have to go to a counterservice restaurant. In person. They don't do phone orders either.

I'm not sure how much ability they'd have to box up several full TS meals so they can be carried. Besides, to do the bit where they sit down, order the meal and then box it up I'd think one would have to bring the whole family to sit down and order the meal. I am not sure one person could come in, sit down, order several meals and then have them boxed up to go. If they're going to bring everybody they might as well eat in the restaurant.

we did this last year at planet hollywood, as soon as we were seated we ordered or food and told them to just put them in a to go box. we didn't have adrs

I would recommend choosing the pavilion food you want (i.e. Mexican food) and order food from that pavilions counterservice restaurant (i.e. Cantina de San Angel). It should be easy to transport this way. :)

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to try it and see what happens. I'll make a reservation and then place my order to go. If they say no, then it's no. At least I tried. But somehow it seems silly that they wouldn't do it.

Their kitchens are not set up for takeout. You'd have to be seated and be served and then ask if you could package it up to take with you. That would pretty much defeat your purpose.

I think you are missing the point. It's not that they won't, as a few posters have already said, it is that they are not prepared to do this. Bringing your whole family to the restaurant, waiting to be seated, sitting and ordering, - you might as well eat while it is hot and enjoy the atmosphere as well.
Another option at the Boardwalk is room service. Also there are some off site services that will deliver to the Boardwalk that might meet your need.

Assuming you aren't going to bring the family to the restaurant, I wouldn't consider making a reservation for one at an Epcot restaurant, sitting, ordering enough meals for the family, having them brought to the table (if they don't bat an eye at one person ordering that much) and then asking them to pack everything up. The WDW restaurants really are not carryout restaurants. You wouldn't be able to make a reservation and then order a meal to go at the podium. You'd have to have it brought to you at the table and then ask the server to pack it up.

And remember you will owe the server a standard tip.

Making a reservation to do this and expecting Disney to be happy is not a good idea.

The last time I was at LeCellier I saw two people come in and try the 'take out' question and get told no.

What OP and others are doing is VERY different from take out. Since they are being seated etc... they need to plan on a FULL tip. It's not fair to rip off the server because you are trying to "get around Disney's rules"

There was a post on another thread stating you might be able to get carryout from the Captain's Grill (YC) or Kouzzina (Boardwalk). They're not Epcot restaurants like you wanted, and I can't be certain they will allow this, but you can ask. I wouldn't count on it though.

As everybody said they aren't set up to be that way.

And if you are seated, order your food (to then ask to box it up), know you can only order for yourself if you are on the DDP.

Unless the whole family is with you, you cannot order more than who is on the plan.

So if you are thinking you will go and try this while the family does something else, IF they accomidate you....it will be only you. As to use a credit you have to be present.

Not sure if they deliver to Disney but maybe look into Grub Taxi to have more options than getting counter service to go.

As long as you don't have your heart set on it and would be hugely disappointed it couldn't hurt to ask. The worst they can say is no.

That being said, the walk to and from the Boardwalk may be long. Food might not be the best quality by the time you get back with it. I'd hate to spend all that money and not get the quality I was expecting.

There are some great restaurants right there at the boardwalk. I've heard good thinks about Kouzzina and Big River Grille.

I think it would probably be easier to go to Picabu at the Dolphin and get that food 'to go'. You wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of getting denied at the Epcot restaurants, or try to work around an ADR, and it would be a much closer walk.

And Picabu is a "buffeteria", so they should be able to accommodate take out.
It's been a few years since I had been there, but I thought the food was decent.

Here is my take on this:

1. I have not tried this at Epcot Restaurants (and would not -- they are far too busy these days)

2. I have done it at other Disney restaurants, they usually accommodate me; I tip very generously

Picabu definitely does takeout. But I hear they now have a "service charge" so you might want to check on that.

Some have pointed out that the CS may not even be able to help you as they may not have containers for "take out", bags and other normal take things like cup holders. So if you do go to one they maybe able to put another plate on top of your food but it in no way seals it and if you ordered 4 meals they would hand you four plates. Maybe with some foil or something over them.

At least at the CS they would have silverware as this was the other problem with TS take out as they don't have things like packages with knives and forks.

To the OP, this comes up a lot, you should see the threads where people were determined to get "take out" pizza from Via Napoli even if it killed them.

They sat down ordered their pie, it came to table and asked for it to go. The servers came back with a bunch of Styrofoam calm shell boxes and they just stacked the pieces in the box. Not exactly the pizza box they expected. :goodvibes
