Epcot Segway tour-entering IG before opening, also ? about AAA discount

Wow - thanks - so they *MUST* have changed this. Our experiences predated your most recent trip. OP - you're right - sounds like this is your answer!

Now (so, sorry!), but you can check on the buses. I did not think they ran very early in the morning, either, but just learned - through AP-holders on another DIS board forum I frequent - that the buses do start around 6:30 a.m. So, theoretically, she should be able to get to the main entrance from the Swan in time for the 8:30 Segway tour. But, again, you'll have to scan the DIS for info or chase down CMs yet again to get the skinny on when they start up in the morning. (Your friend really BETTER appreciate all you are doing to ensure she has a smooth trip! )

LOL, oh, she does appreciate it! She used to make fun of me (goodnaturedly) about my Disney obsession, but now she is reaping some of the benefits!

I will find out about the buses. I would hate for them to have to pay a cab...but I really don't want them to have to drive their car. At least they can LEAVE the park thru IG and get back to their room, ya know?

Seems she COULD get a bus from the Swan to Epcot early enough, but it will say "Character Breakfast" on the front sign...but again, the info here isn't crystal clear (it gives this info for the MK character breakfasts, but doesn't mention it for the Epcot (princess) breakfast.)

Thank you for finding that! I think she better just check with the resort when she checks in. I am scared to give too much info! Heck, I would have BET MONEY she could go thru the IG...but I guess I learned my lesson...things can change at Disney, and sometimes not for the "better!"

First of all...good choice on your friend doing the Segway tour! We did this last February (during the apparently coldest Feb on record, LOL!) and despite having the winter jackets on, loved it!

We were staying at the BC, and I "think" I remember asking a CM about entering thru the IG. We did, but even tho we spoke to a CM at the gate, they said the RD was just in a few minutes (which it was), and he wouldn't let us in earlier. We had to huff it to the Tour and still made it with plenty of time...even with going to the front of the park, then finding we had to meet at GR off to the side of SE. (Whew...lot's of Abb's there!).

Anyways, if your friend goes to Epcott before the tour, tell her to ask one of the management type CM's about getting in thru that entrance early, just to be safe!

If you can't get in through IG for the 8:30 AM Segway tour, it must have changed since October 2009. We have done 12 Segway tours at Epcot, all beginning at 8:30 AM. The last two were during our October 2009 trip. We have been able to enter through IG at approximately 8:00 AM to arrive at Guest Services by 8:15, as directed, each time. I did hear that you couldn't get in before 8:00 AM, so guests on the earlier tours may have to go to the front. We are returning in May, so I hope we all get some "rock solid" information soon.

I have a "Surprise" Epcot Segway Tour for my DSthen18...May 14th...

WE are supposed to meet at Guest Relations at 8:15am...and I've "Been Told" that we would need to get a taxi to bring us to Epcot..

(OR drive our vehicle...as we will have one..BUT ...why would I bring my vehicle....when I plan on "Walking Home" to our Resort?)

We are staying at BCV....

I had planned on asking at the resort when we visit...but it would be GREAT to know in Advance !

What a great gift for DS! I look forward to doing a Segway tour with my DD one day. She is 11 now.

I think I need to call WDW Dine...and ask-- if I have an early breakfast ADR for the Princess Breakfast at Akershus....can I enter thru IG? Or would I have to go to the main entrance also? Not sure why they would have a list at IG for one group and not the other.

We did the early tour several years ago but I remember we were told that we had to go to the front gate.

There are no buses from BW/YC/BC to Epcot (not sure about Swan/Dolphin) so we ended up taking cab from the BW to the Epcot main gait. It cost about $8 but it was worth it to us to have the piece of mind that we could get in with enough time to make our tour schedule. An $80 tour is too expensive to miss.

Yeah, but imo, having to take a cab from one of several resorts in order to partake in a Disney tour is not what a guest should have to do!
