Epcot - rides wearing a skirt?

I wear dresses to the parks all the time and never had a problem at Epcot. Soarin' and Test Tack will need some creative adjusting while seating, but other than that you'll be fine.

I've also worn shorts to all 4 parks with no problem.

But I don't generally wear more than underwear with them.

My bike shorts have padding in the seat. Where do you get them without the padding?

20170611_110659-1209x1612.jpg I wore a sundress or skirt almost all week long during my last summer trip, with Teva's (well....Payless's version of Teva's anyways, lol), and it was fantastic. No issues on any of the rides. Will do it again.

I wear only Tevas for just these reasons. So light yet with so much support. And they don't get slippery in the downpours--and they dry quickly afterward. Just the thought of soggy sneakers, yuck!

I'm now a Teva convert. I have two pairs -- that I'll alternate between at the parks. I'm also wearing down a pair of sneakers I got from L.L. Bean that are supposedly "quick drying."

And I'm planning on wearing simple sundresses - with moisture wicking slip shorts under it.

I’m curious...as I’m a man and not Scottish, I have no experience of this but why would wearing a skirt be problematic on rides?

If you can imagine why skirts of various lengths would be a problem whilst riding a bicycle... or getting on or off of a bicycle, the problems can be similar (not exactly the same obviously) as that. (Modesty, dexterity, how one sits, gets in and out of a ride, etc...)

And, whoever asked about biker shorts, Amazon has different styles to choose from.

I just got back from our June trip. I wore skirts nearly every day. It is the most comfortable I have ever been. I did wear white biker shorts underneath so I could even ride space mountain in a skirt. I wore a sundress to Epcot with no problem at all. I prefer to wear the white biker shorts underneath because you never know when there will be wind with a thunderstorm. I wore no lace tennis shoes or teva style sandals with all my dresses.

Instead of bike shorts, wear slip shorts. You can get them in all prices, but the ones I like best are Vanity Fair from Walmart. Only a few colors (I took 2 black and 2 "nude"), but absolutely worth the money. Nicer lacy ones are available from amazon under name brands like Under Summers, Thigh Society, and Jockey (Walmart and Target both carry the Jockey brand as well).

I wear skirts with bike shorts (not sure what they are actually called, they are a very thin layer so not noticeable at all but there just in case the wind blows or you get in and out of a ride awkwardly. I also wear skorts, same idea, skirt but with the short portion attached. Super comfy, I hardly ever wear shorts anymore at WDW.

Yes I was not sure what they are called. They are found on Amazon and such sites. I believe they are exercise shorts. I wouldn't ever wear them by themselves but they work great under dresses. They are not padded so I guess they are not biker shorts technically. More like very short, fitted yoga shorts.

The only ride I've ever struggled in while wearing a dress/skirt was Astro Orbiter. It was just difficult to get out of in a lady-like manner. :P

I struggled to get out of that one in a lady-like manner and I was wearing shorts! I think I ended up just swinging both legs up and over the edge and kind of falling out and hoping I landed on my feet. :rotfl2:

I'd say they're probably "active shorts" or the Jockey slip shorts (which roll and slide down on me, so they're a no-go for parks). I know I wear the Old Navy Active compression shorts. I wear the Compression active capris regularly, too. I just like to call them bike shorts, but I think they're just active shorts?

Either way, I wouldn't be caught in a dress without them at this point. :D

Do any of you mind sharing pics of your Tevas???? I'm always on the look out for comfy park shoes.

You can more easily find the ones without padding if you put in "workout" shorts in the search. I go with the slip style shorts when dressing up, not for a day in the parks, as I find they just don't "work" for me walking long distances, but the biker/workout shorts seem to do the trick.

Shorts! While I never had a worry about a ride, I seem to fall over easily and like to know my assets are covered. I have even been thrown from my seat on the bus, during a sudden stop while riding to work one day. Yep, I wear skorts to work every day that I don't wear pants. Bike or slip shorts would do, just test them out in advance. Anything that can roll down, will, and never at a good time.

Trip in mid July with DH, he is attending a convention at the Swan. One night, the convention dinner is in Epcot with a spot for illuminations and 3 after hours rides available to attendees and guests. The rides aren't specified, but my best guess would be TT, Soarin, and ???? Frozen, Mission Space or Spaceship Earth?

It would be nice to get a little more dressed up than usual park attire, since there won't be a ton of walking and I can swap the sneakers for some teva-style sandals. Anyone have experience/thoughts on a knee length or longer skirt on any of those rides? I won't ride MS, and Soarin is iffy for me with migraine associated vertigo. Any others with motion sickness/vertigo, how did you do on Soarin? I'm considering it since I'm only doing a couple rides that day and it is late at night and can go back and sleep right after if need be.

If it’s the Tessitura conference, the rides are specified. It’s Soarin, Test Track, and Mission Space. I’ll be there too!

This is a great question. I usually dress up for this event and didn’t even think how a very long or very short dress would work.
