I'm considering renting DVC point for a late May 2019 stay at BWV, but I'm concerned about potential gondola construction. Is it possible that IG would close for some of the construction? I'd hate to be locked into BWV and then not be able to us IG! Thoughts?

It is doubtful that that IG will be closed for any of the major Disney Skyliner construction. The IG station is being built in the old VIP Bus loop right next to the IG. Only issue might be a limited closure for the actual cable pull but I would expect that to happen rather quickly. The cable loop from the IG station lifts up and over the IG walkway and meets the first main tower behind the France pavilion.

Here is a picture of the early Disney concept art showing the IG Skyliner station adjacent to the IG entrance.

I agree with @Dave006 the IG construction is adjacent , but off to the side. Regardless, you would never be “stuck” in your BWV

Thanks for the info and picture, Dave!

I am worried about the IG being overwhelmed at bag check and ticket entry areas. The IG is not built to handle large crowds.

Part of why we love staying at BW is the IG, so easy to get in to EPCOT.

One rumor is that the skyliner people might bypass security as they were checked prior to going on the skyliner, so that might help crowds.

Our DVC is at the Boardwalk and I have also wondered how the IG with the 4 hotels and 2 DVC resorts which make up the Epcot Resort Area now can handle the flow from the Gondolas'. After Illuminations it can get pretty crowded now at the IG with the people trying to get back to their resorts. Rose and Crowns will need to expand!!!

Based on the current model that does appear to be the logical model of having guests per-screened before the park. This would help with the Bag / Security check but not address the limited number of Tap-stile points just before park entry.
