Epcot moonlight magic February registration

They are going to have to do something, or over time more and more members will have bad experiences and be left out of MM as the number of direct members increases. And bad word of mouth is probably not the best for their sales.

They at least need to open more things/staff more and increase the number of members allowed in (which would make the experience slightly worse) or substantially increase the amount of MMs throughout the year while still limiting the number per year or number per season like they do now to help more members get in every now and then.

Many things can be done, they honestly do not try very hard at all.

They could only include people on your reservation to stop people from giving away tickets.

Make it easier to cancel your MM extra tickets that are not needed and give members another shot at registration with the tix that had cancellations. When I needed to cancel mine when I tried it was unsuccessful.

Lastly, they have been allowing resale points to be used book your room. If they actually followed their own rules and stop that, that will open up ALOT of space for early registration.

Agreed with most, but this last part I don't think is correct. Nowhere does it say that you have to be using your direct only points in order to qualify for a MM. Just that you have a reservation using your membership in the state where the MM is taking place.

If they allow cash bookings through DVC then IDK why they wouldn't let resale reservations from qualifying members qualify too

If you call MS they tell you otherwise. I use my direct points only due to continually being told that by MS. Cant risk showing up in FL and being denied entry.

Yeah you can't really trust what someone at MS says these days unfortunately. They will tell you wildly different things depending on the day or the CM you talk to. The terms on the website are pretty clear that any reservation qualifies as long as it was made in time, in the right state, and the membership itself qualifies

I think this type of thing was the reason for the last few changes. At one point I remember some people getting 2 events 5 days apart in one trip. Those people were really good at planning and working the system, attending many events each ad every year. Great for them but it was especially frustrating to those who tried repeatedly for years and still kept failing.

That disparity gap narrowed a bit since each membership now only gets one queue number, regular onsite cash was removed from qualifying, limit now only 1 event per membership and season, and no double dipping same park within same year (exception: winter AK).

Well I agree but Disney and DVC gains a lot from these bloggers so that will probably never happen. Where they seem to draw the line is when they make money directly on property, like the third-party tour guides and "nannies". They don't care about bloggers making ad revenue or t-shirt deals on youtube.

as the number of direct members increases.
Does this number net increase? There’s a lot of resales out there….

And a lot of the resale contracts out there have been resold multiple times, or are just from a member downsizing, etc. (not resulting in less direct eligible members overall)

If/when I sell any contracts for example, my direct would be the last to go and most likely only in an emergency

So yes I believe the number is steadily increasing

I hold a lot of resale points. But I would be 100% on board with them actually restricting to needing to have your room booked with direct points for early registration. If you need resale points to be used then you have to try for general registration. Just my opinion. And I havent had any issues getting into MM like others have.

What about mixed reservations? If you have a reservation with 99% direct and 1% resale would that disqualify you? What about 75/25? 50/50? 25/75? It would cut a lot of members off and create a lot of confusion and frustration with less savvy members I would think.

I personally would rather give advantage in the queue to those with more direct points, those who booked the reservation earliest, have longer reservations (ex: 3 days vs 1 day) haven't been to a MM in the last year, etc.

Actual MM qualifying night needs to paid with direct points.

Hmm, and if they are staying for a week with 50/50 direct/resale points? No points are specifically assigned to individual nights, so it gets confusing.

IMO that would actually give an advantage to those who book later and just book that one MM day just to grab a MM spot, so I would be against that change I think

I have done twice as a new member Its not confusing at all.
But then a person that used 100+ direct points as part of a week stay could be blocked out while a member who uses like 15-20 for 1 night gets in? I wouldn't like that at all.

Most wont like a member with 500 direct points getting more privileges than a member with 200 gets either. Just look at how many people lost their minds with MMB and lounge access priority.

There are already 250k plus members, I don't know how many of those are DVC-Y but I'd assume the majority are. No matter what they do, someone will always walk away with out-turned pockets. And they'll spend a week coming up with ever ridiculous scenarios that would make it more "fair"

The members with 200 wouldn't like it but I bet the members with 500 wouldn't mind 🤣. More points is always going to give an advantage anyway. More trips means more possible MMs to try for.

I would still much prefer that to a system that gives preference to those on super short trips like locals or those that booked 1 nights just for the MM alone.

I guess it could lean that way. I am far from local and I booked 1 night on direct points the other nights on resale. Merged my reservation. Wasn't hard to do. I personally have more beef with the west coast MM because it's released so close to the event date, and so many rooms are already booked for rentals.
