Hi guys! I have been searching tirelessly for an answer to this question all over google, but cannot seem to find anything, so I'm hoping someone here can help me out :) I've wanted to be fitted/possibly purchase a kimono from the Mitsukoshi department store in Epcot's Japan for several past Disney visits, but have always been extremely "pooh-sized." We are going back in May this year and I'm down four pant sizes and still dropping, which is exciting because it makes me feel as if my dream of fitting into a kimono might finally become reality! However, I definitely don't want to go and ask to be fitted just to have them say "Sorry, we don't have anything big enough for you" :( So, does anyone know anything about the sizes of the kimonos? I'm a 16 right now, could be a 14 by May, but we'll see! Do they run that large, or are they all smaller sizes? Thanks so much for any info you guys can provide!!!

Congrats on your weight loss! My DD bought one for herself and DGD. I don't think you'll have any problem with size. I don't remember them all being small. My DGDs was small, but my DDs was an adult size. They have a belt that wraps around the waist that you can adjust. The kimonos are really pretty.

While they are not one size fits all, they are definitely not just sized for small folk. I've been told that these kimono and yukata have been made for western tourists, so are both longer and wider. FWIW, I am normally a size 16 and have never had a problem finding a good fit. I've bought several yukata there over the years. They are incredibly comfortable to wear as a summer robe.

Idk the answer to your question, but congrats on your weight loss! I hope you have a wonderful vacation and can find a kimono to take home!

Thank you all SO much for the information, I truly appreciate it!! I'm going to give it a shot and get fitted! Thanks again!!!

First off congrats on the weight loss I know how hard that is to do! I don't know about the kimonos, but the other items in the store I was told by staff when i asked to buy a jacket was that they are sized 1 above what they actually are so a xxl is really a xl.
