I just checked the hours for May, and it shows WS closing at 7pm on May 1st, and yet Illuminations is listed for 9pm. Do you think that's correct? If so, what is there to do in the two hours while we wait? Are the shops open? How about the restaurants?

are you sure it wasn't fw that closed...it usually closes at 7 then world showcase is open till 9. i would think if it was for aprivate party or somethng no illunimations would be listed

i looked it up on the disney site but couldn't remember the exact date but most i say fw closed at 7, ws later

checked again and it says ws open till 9, future world till 7 ( only took me 2 tries )

I have another Illuminations question. Are the views of Illuminations good from FW. Also, are there any other spots around the lagoon to watch the show that aren't to crowded?

It's actually May 1 that we will be there and the hours on this site do list FW as 11-7 that day. Maybe it's a mistake; I haven't checked the official WDW site.

Future World does close at 7. The major rides are still open in FW till 9. Illuminations is at 9.

This HAD to be some sort of typo, IllumiNations is always 9pm, except between Thanksgiving and NYE when it is adjusted to avoid the Candlelight Procession to 9:30pm.
Aside any sort of special press event, you can bank on 9pm and 9:30pm.

I think the confusion is that Future World is closed at 7 PM, but World Showcase stays open until 9 Pm with Illuminations at 9 PM. As SafetyMom said, even when FW closes at 7 PM many of the "bigger" rides in FW stay open until 9. They are listed in the times guide.

cdrn1 is right, if you're looking at the DIS's listings. It shows WS closing at 7, not only May 1st but the 3rd and 5th as well.

However, WDW's website shows the normal hours for those dates, with WS closing at 9.
