EPCOT Foreign Employees

One of the aspects that really made EPCOT special to me was the authenticity of people working at the different pavillions. I speak several languages and when I talked to them I sensed that they had not been in the United States that long. It was as if they were teleported out of their native country...

I read today that Disney flies them over for a one year program, how does this work? Being nosy but how much are they compensated? They stay on site in dormitories apparently which must be a lot of fun as they get to meet people from all over the world...

I don't know about the compensation, but I do know that special visa definitions were created for the international jobs at Disney, and that drives the length of time that the international employees are allowed to stay in the US.

The international employees working under the special visas must perform jobs like those in World Showcase, sort of ambassadors of their country, in roles that educate about their culture. You won't see any of them loaned out to help in other areas of the parks.

This is true, only also some CM's at the AK and AKL are also part of this same program, However not nearly as many as when the park opened.

One of our favorite CM's at the Morroccan (sp) pavilion...ended up getting married right before her year ended...so now 3 years after meeting her we get to still visit with her and her hubbie...

She very much enjoyed her time at the Morrocan pavilion.....
