***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

We plan on doing a couple of the Party for the Senses (love them) and I have a question for those that haven't booked the first morning booking is available. Do you think there would be any trouble booking them in September? I'm trying to spread our expenses out over a couple of months and it would help to hold off booking them another month. I know the smaller events sellout within a couple of hours but the Party is so big that I can't imagine it selling out.

You don't have to worry about booking PFTS right away monday morning, you can definately wait until September. We have booked them with a weeks notice and gotten in. Enjoy!

Please forgive me for asking this but what is it we are looking for? :confused3 What does it look like? Again Please forgive me ;)

Well if it's a Florida thing I better get to the mailbox. Maybe I can get there between rain drops:umbrella:

I would have thought Le Cellier would be booked for a F&W pairing. I guess it makes sense why we were able to book Le Cellier for lunch during October.

HI!
The event is posted as resort casual and they ask for no shorts, tank tops , bathing attire or flip flops. You will see people who haven't followed this but most people dress up from what you would at the park all day. Hope this helps.

We have gone to the PFTS every year including the Odyssey days and have never been told that shorts are not permitted - it has the same dress code as the signature restaurants (and the venue is a lot warmer than any signature restaurant - we were uncomfortable last year).

Sorry .. we were told that when we booked the last couple years. Im not saying at all that people don't go in shorts, I was just telling the person what the Disney reservation person told us on the phone. :confused3

Vertical Wine at World Showcase! Hmm. That changes complexion for me. $195 is a lot ($20 glass) but you got to look out at Magic Kingdom from the California Grill. Being cooped up in the dark Wonders of Life environment may be a deal breaker.

Ah, but there is a very nice room upstairs at the WofL Pavilion. Last time we attended a DDE special event there it was quite well decorated with a terrific lounge area. You can never be sure just what Disney will do other than try their best to make it special.

I hope that area is handicap accessible. Last year we were shocked that the Marrakesh Pairing was held in the raised area of the restaurant and they had no ramp! My DH who uses a power WC had to be lifted by the waiters into another chair & the chair carried up the steps. They were very nice & helpful, but it was not pleasant for him.

We accessed it by an elevator.

No need to apologize - everyone seems to get different messages from Disney...in any event plenty of people wear shorts to PFTS and there is no reason they should not - it's a fairly casual event and the venue is warm. For me it's a decision that afternoon...a walk over from the BW when it's still like 88 degrees at 6PM in long pants is pretty miserable.

You are referrring to the room where they have done the Wine Schools. The part that overlooks the floor of the WoL (reception area) is not large enough for the Vertical Tasting and the room where they will probably do it (same as the wine schools) looks like the ball room of any reasonably good hotel. Takes away most of the glamour of tasting 10 vintages of a top shelf wine.

Whoa! I know that the Party is much more casual than in years past (used to be a dress up affair) but I've never seen anyone in shorts and we go to 3 a year. I see mostly sundresses, skirts w/nice top, slack w/nice tops, some dressier than others. Course, I admit maybe I just didn't notice any shorts. I would just not want for someone to go extremely casual and then be uncomfortable because they feel underdressed.

See, we've only been doing it since 2004, but we've always been told "no shorts" and a "business casual or dressier" dress code on the phone, as well.

I don't find it very casual at all, either - we've always described it as a large cocktail party. DH wears pants, a button up long sleeve shirt and a tie, and I wear a nice dress with dress shoes and we've always been around the middle of the "dress" - we usually can count on one hand the number of people in shorts, and we normally see quite a few people in suits/tuxes and long cocktail gowns.

Watch your mailboxes, my dde announcement has arrived.
allears has pretty much everything right...no surprises. the TBD spots are filled in.

French Regional lunches are Sundays, the dates listed, not Saturdays as described.

Bocuse is now 7pm to midnight.

Well, don't keep me in suspense! Someone on the podcast board mentioned that 10/16 Kitchen Conversations TBA was due to Robert Irvine being the scheduled chef. Given his recent circumstance of lying on his resumé, I wanted to know if that TBA has been changed. :)

How about a nice pair of white dress capris (not denim) with a knit sweater set and strappy white sandals. Will I be underdressed? I'll have a couple dresses with me but was planning on wearing those to a couple signature meals.

I think you would be fine in nice capris with a sweater.
