***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

I'm glad I wasn't the only one disappointed in Collette Peter's Sweet Sundays. I flew my mom down special for that event and we were beyond disappointed. I didn't attend the free event but now I'm sad we didn't. Definately not worth the expense.

One more question about ressies. Do you have to give them your credit card info after each reservation or can you do it at the end. It would seem that doing so after each reservation would waste lots of precious time.

Thanks.

If I remember correctly you have to give your cc# for each event booked since they are charged separately. Yes, it does waste a lot of time, which is why I book the smallest things first and leave stuff like PFTS last.

Is there a special phone number to call for ressies for F&W or are they all handled through the 407-WDW-DINE number?

Thanks!

You can use 407-WDW-DINE or 407-WDW-FEST (939-3378)...they both get answered by Disney Dinning.

Seems to depend on what CM you get. Last year mine required me to read it only once. Year before I had to give the same number for every booking. AND she insisted on reading the spiel for every booking (dress code, cancellation - which you could do then -, no smoking, park admission required, blah blah blah)

Best thing to do is ask for the events that either fill up really quickly, or the events you can't live without, first.

I went to a Sweet Sunday to see a particular presenter. This was not a chef or a baker, but a cake decorator. She made it clear at her presentation that she does not bake anymore, she only decorates cakes. I wanted to see her decorate some cakes. What did she do? Show how to bake them.

That and I had to get through two huge slices of cake and some cookies in addition to the breakfast buffet (which was pretty good actually)

This same presenter did a free demo the next day, which I went to because my friend wanted to. Guess what she did? Decorated cakes. And we got a slice of the same cake she presented at the Sweet Sunday. With the exception of the breakfast, the free demo was far better than the paid event. I won't be signing up for one of these again no matter who's presenting it.

Interesting observation. I had no idea. We were at Collette Peter's Sweet Sundays as well and did not know about the free demos. We'll be re-thinking that. Thanks for sharing ~

Does anyone remember from last year which events booked up the first day (or first couple of hours!:scared1: ).

If I remember, I think Le Cellier was a quickie. Taking only a couple of hours, right? And I think the Brewer's Dinner was two days or so.

Just trying to plan what to ask for first! Any insight? :)

I went over to All Ears and looked at their updates from last year ...

All the Le Cellier pairings were gone on the first day as was the Scotch pairing at Rose and Crown and the Sweet Sundays with Colette Peters. There was also a pairing that was supposed to be held in the Seas Salon over at Coral Reef that sold out on the first day and then later those sneaky wanks moved it back to the regular dining room in the restuarant.

Within the week, the following events were also sold out: Two vertical wine tastings, a sensory wine lunch featuring Caymus and Conundrum Vinyards, the signatue dinners at Bistro Paris and California Grill, The Brewers Dinner, five of the six exquisitely expensive evenings that were being offered, the kitchen conversation with Cat Cora, two afternoon tea sessions with Stephen Twinings, all of the F&W pairings in Italy and France save one each, a fair number of the additional pairings that were supposedly being held in the Seas Salon, and half of the available pairings in Morocco.

I agree with TDC Nala ... book what you most want first or the event that is likely to sell out quickest and then work down the list from there.

:goodvibes

Thanks Brenda!

One more question: What is the Seas Salon at Coral Reef?

Thanks Brenda!

One more question: What is the Seas Salon at Coral Reef?

It's a banquet room or some such in the Coral Reef pavilion ... I'd heard that there was another aquarium view there as well. I assume it gets used for receptions and things along those lines. The food would have been the same as that provided in the Coral Reef restaurant. And that is all I "know." :goodvibes

Sounds nice. Thanks!

Has anyone posted pictures of last years menus? I'm trying to budget our vacation money and curious about the prices for drinks at kiosks.

Mmmmm.....that menu brings back memories!! Yum! :goodvibes

We made a mistake last year and only allowed a few hours to explore the kiosks at World Showcase. We didn't even make it through half of them - too many other events that we had reserved. Ugh, tough decision because we loved all the hard ticket events too!

Hi Everyone,
I am new to this thread and will be attending the Food and Wine Festival for the first time this year. I am sure this has already been answered so I apologize in advance for re-asking. :cool2:
I have heard there is usually some sort of beer tasting. Can you tell me if this is just at a kiosk or if this is something I will need ressies for? I like very little wines, only a handful, but enjoy drinking different kinds of beer and thought it would be neat to try some new things.
Thanks for any advice you can give! :woohoo:

The Le Cellier pairing sold out completely (for the entire festival) within the first ten minutes of booking.

There was a Signature Dinner in the Seas Salon which I did go to. It is pretty much as Brenda describes. I did not take photos of the room, only the food.

All pairings were moved from the Seas Salon because it was needed for weddings and corporate parties, according to Coral Reef's manager.

Sam Adams has a beer tasting. You do not need reservations or to sign up. It's just that, a tasting. You get a few tastes of beer.

Before 2008 there was an international beer seminar where each table got several FULL bottles of beer to taste and share. That is no longer presented. As of 2007, the sponsor, InBev, got involved with Anheuser Busch which is associated with other theme parks in the Orlando area. (It's now being said that InBev is set to actually buy Anheuser Busch)

It is actually more like tastes of 5 or more different Sam Adams' beers. If you total them up you get at least a nice cup full. :thumbsup2

It was four or five different kinds, that's like the one thing I didn't take a picture of.
